It won't. At least not for everybody.
if we don't pass some kind of universal income + healthcare, then its going to be another gilded age where the rich are too rich to work and the poor too unskilled to work.
We're already in a second Gilded Age.
America is stupidly prepared compared to other nations. What do you think China will do when there are no more unskilled labor jobs for their billion+ nation to work in? That's nice, and what about the unskilled labor you were talking about?

However, I do see it as a form of preparedness considering how you guys are experimenting with base income, even if just a small group of 100 people. In America of all places.
Basic income has to be tried out to see if it works, or could be implemented in times of automation becoming more widespread.

"We're" not really experimenting with it. Some random silicon valley startup is. The majority of America would view basic income as "BIG GUBMENT GIVIN OUT WELFARE TO THE ILLEGALS"

The unskilled labor goes away...
I wasn't addressing that point. What were you trying to prove with your post?

You responded to someone who said America is unprepared to automation. Then you said America is stupidly prepared for it because "at least we have a pool of skilled workers who will be able to hold on for a little bit longer"
So, what the were you trying to prove with your post? And personally I wasn't trying to really prove shit, if anything I just expressed interest over this basic income testing in America, which is, well.. kinda interesting? That's quite it.

Not sure really, maybe trade with favors of some sort.

adamsz is probably right, humans are too greedy currently. But current system is not working for everybody either :v:.
