Fucking hell! 21 years old?
What the fuck are you on? 12-15 Is the average...... Or so said the website I just went to.
15 may be pushing it, that's the human equivalent of 105. I'd say 10-13 maybe.
The dog was so old he could buy alcohol.
Cigarettes got his lungs, real cause of death
What the fuck are you on? 12-15 Is the average...... Or so said the website I just went to.
depends on the breed, smaller breeds typically have longer lifespans
We do we use dog years?
A year is a complete revolution of the earth around the sun. How the fuck does that differ for another animal?
it's a comparison of how long it takes for dogs to reach certain stages in life on average compared to how long it takes humans to reach certain stages in life on average. also, their heart beats faster, that plays a key role.
depends on the breed, smaller breeds typically have longer lifespans
it doesn't have a lot to do with size. that's part of it, but metabolism, muscle mass/density and weight are also part of it. however the larger breeds tend to live shorter lives, this is true. but not just because they're bigger.
Paw thing.
That's because Cat's are smart enough to stay away from danger.
shut up already.
Cats dont give a shit about their owners
While dogs are fun and alot more social
My cat is 23. Bitch.
That is because cats have a longer life-span. I think the oldest one was around 30.
my dog was 17
Dogs > Cats
And I hope my dog lives that long :<
it looks like it has cancer.
dog cancer
The worlds oldest goldfish lived to be 64, when most die after a few months :geno:
Lol, my grandma's dog is 20 years old (and she is treated like a damn god, my grandma treats animals better than people, literally). She's fucking cool too, and doesn't act much different from a dog around 10 years old. Except she waddles 'cause of megablubber.
That dog looks really cute and just calm. It almost has a wise look to it. At least to me anyway.
21? My Mother had a dog that died at 23 years old, and it was a little ratty dog.
Indeed. I've seen several dogs who are able to open doors. Teaching a cat to use a litterbox or a toilet is not unlike teaching a dog to do his business in the back yard. People prefer the backyard because most dogs are significantly larger then cats and not nearly as agile.
Dogs live in packs, and as such they already understand social order and class responsibilities. That's why dogs are used in everything from sniffing bombs to leading the blind. It's their job in the pack to do it, and they understand that. Cats are more independent creatures, and don't really see a family as a unit that needs to work together. Does that mean cats are any dumber? Of course not.
It's like comparing apples and carrots.

"Cats are so smart that they are too smart and as a result do nothing and are hard to train."
Look I'll agree that there are different kinds of intelligence, and that comparing a cat and a dog directly is pretty much impossible, but dogs are infinitely more useful and flexible. The sheer adaptability of the animal and wide variety of functions in can perform make the intelligence it wields USEFUL intelligence.
The genius in his mom's basement jacking it to porn may still be a genius, but the retard behind the counter at mcdonalds is wielding intelligence in a fashion infinitely more useful. (And he delivers my fries with a smile!). So regardless of whether or not dogs are less intelligent than cats, they are still doing the retard behind the counter bit and making themselves useful.
As a companion it is purely a matter of taste. Unless your taste is small yappy/frilly/french dogs. In which case fuck you. I have a dog and a cat, and I love them both.
My cat has even proven to be a functional family member as he commits genocide on the local rodent population. I'm getting like 3 dead voles (Like a mouse) a week now. Keeps them from getting to the garden, which is very nice. I worry about what happens when the vole population runs out. He has killed rabbits, birds, and a baby raccoon now in addition to his steam stream of voles. Leaves the local skink population alone though, which is nice because I like skinks and they eat bugs. I keep expecting him to drag a small child through the dog door.
Cats can't kill you, unless you are a huge pussy.
Edit:
But dogs, once they get a little taste of blood..
Meh I'll get a parrot instead, outlives both cats and dogs (and can outlive me). Not to mention it can talk and (sometimes) solve puzzles. Sadly parrots cost a lot to buy, maintain and you need a large free space for them (I was going to buy one sometime ago, but then I thought that it was better not to).
Anyways I had a dog that lived to 16 (or 15), which is pretty damn long (nowhere near the dog in the OP though).
Also transforming dog years into human years is bullshit, 5 dog years are 5 human years (so saying "he was 140 years old" is pointless).

No, It's used to give us humans a sense of how old the dog is.

My favorite thing about dogs is their unconditional love.
My cat does show how much he likes me sometimes, but i have to do shit for him first. And that bastard will walk into my room at like 3am just to meow a few times and leave. what a dick
bawww :(
What a cutie :3

I don't understand why doesin't my country do anything about it,
Rate me dumb or disagree if you want, you just don't know it yourself

Unlucky for you man, usually when my cats enter the room when I'm asleep, they lay down next to me.
Or on my head. Licking my hair. As is the case for one of them.
Your countries is a dog?
Well my country is a little over 230 years old. Is that old?
Actually, your country CAN do something about it, you grind up your dog and and then freeze dry it so it turns into fine powder which can be turned into a land mass.
Fix'd
That's because Cat's are smart enough to stay away from danger.
I don't think you know how many cats get run over... with the rest of the possum and skunk.
I personally love cats but when I look into my cats eyes I see a blank emotionless stare back at me. My dogs have a personality.
sorry just had to get that out there :P
cats are smarter than dogs hurr durr
Did nobody read that damn study where they definitively proved dogs are MUCH smarter than cats? They trained them via a reward system or touch the pad get food. The cats took far longer to learn it.
We're all gonna die

You just have a very bland cat. All of my cats have very distinguishable personalities.
