• Movie Theater Bans Madonna for Texting During Film, Refusing to Stop

"I'm going to tell everybody how shitty you are!" Cinema proceeds to use it as marketing. The amounts of win in this are volatile.
In a world where every released movie can be pirated from the safety of your home, and the only advantage you gain by going to the theater and paying is greater quality of image and sound, why oh why would you even go there and not pay attention to the movie, texting instead? I see 0 excuses to this, unless you don't like the movie then you should probably leave or go to the bathroom.

They didn't even kick her out which sorta defeats the point.
You can cancel out the noise of popcorn-eating by eating it during loud or intense scenes in the movie and it won't bother anyone.
No one in their right mind is going to time their overpriced popcorn indulgence only for the "loud scenes," and with good reason.
i think its an overreaction to get THAT bothered by it, but whatever, then again i don't really get why people would text inside a theater to begin with.
I paid 10 fucking dollars to go into a dark room with a giant screen and surround sound and watch a movie I like, if your bright-as-fuck phone ruins that experience, I will grab it and snap it in half after politely asking them to turn it off doesn't work. If you don't silence your phone, I will find out where you live and snap your neck

If you go to a concert you wouldn't want someone next to you playing some other band on their phone, so why should I put up with hearing other people's conversations when I'm watching a movie? If I go to a play I want to see the actors perform, not see your phone . why should I put up with people using their bright ass phone when I'm trying to watch a movie?
if you've ever legitimately gone to a movie with a texter seated near you yeah, it's a little bit annoying third time i saw pacific rim there was this guy half a row down from me that started texting every once in awhile didn't annoy me so much since i'd already seen it twice but yeah, the glimmer was irritating
whats so bad about texting in a theater?
Seeing a bright as fuck cellphone screen while watching a movie is distracting and really unpolite this bitch thinks she is fucking almighty
if you broke my phone in half i would probably break your face in half because my phone is my personal property
If you were being a distraction in a theater you'd deserve it though.
i didn't realize going to the movies was so serious for some people

whats so bad about texting in a theater?
If you read past the title, you would notice that it isn't just any day in theater. It was 'during a premiere screening.'
Madonna was reportedly texting up a storm while attending the New York Film Festival premiere of 12 Years A Slave last week and reacted in a rather spectacularly annoyed manner when asked to stop (‘It’s for business … enslaver!”). maturity of this thread = zero [editline]15th October 2013[/editline] this is probably why members only theatres are best

This never used to bother me so much, now with fucking Phablets and shit like that screens are getting bigger and brighter. Of course they are going to be distracting. What is even the point of being in the cinema if you are going to text. Some of my mates go out for cigarettes, during the film. So pointless...
I fucking love films. And I fucking love popcorn. I put so much effort into minimizing my crunching sound i deserve a fucking medal. Keep my phone on but always always put the brightness right down so I can barely read it. (Only bother to check it if its likely to be some fanny texting.
Last time I went to the movies it was ruined by a bunch of teenage girls that kept walking in and out of the theater. They were in a group of six and every once in a while two would walk out and another set would walk in giggling with their faces lit up by their phones. I had no idea what the hell they were doing, but it was probably one of the most infuriating trips to the cinema.
You can cancel out the noise of popcorn-eating by eating it during loud or intense scenes in the movie and it won't bother anyone.
I can't stand hearing myself eat stuff, not just in theaters, don't ask me why. But in this case, I usually just let the popcorn melt in my mouth :u
I personally don't mind a texter since I never get distracted by them but it's common sense not to text in the movies since obviously ALOT of people get annoyed by them. Which is why it's against most theater's rules in the first place.
i never got distracted by people pulling their cells, i didn't even knew people could get lol, its such a weak light.
"It doesn't bother me so it shouldn't bother other people." That's pretty much what you've been saying this entire time.
This is why I love the Alamo Drafthouse, they're pretty hard on stuff that distract from movies.
"It doesn't bother me so it shouldn't bother other people." That's pretty much what you've been saying this entire time.
not really, i was simply saying that i don't get how it bothers, thats pretty much it.
I can't stand hearing myself eat stuff, not just in theaters, don't ask me why. But in this case, I usually just let the popcorn melt in my mouth :u
I just eat before going to a cinema. Even when I am watching a movie at home I rarely eat something while doing it.
When people text in front of me I constantly kick their chair, and whisper very loudly "I hate assholes who use their phone during a movie" They get the hint
i'm surprised you haven't got your ass kicked by doing that, or maybe you did. :v:
Everytime there is talk of this theatre, I can imagine them showing something like this before each movie
i'm surprised you haven't got your ass kicked by doing that, or maybe you did. :v:
Maybe because there are people who can take a hint. Unlike some.
guys facepunchers are really sensitive its best to stop arguing and let them be angry at people in peace
