HK>FN :colbert:
HK is fucking expensive. They make good guns, don't get me wrong, but they're really expensive.
I believe the SCAR can be modified to use AK magazines, which will prove useful.
Yeah the rangers are weird. They operate in squads much larger than normal special operations.
That's because they're more light infantry guys rather than the classic US Army Special Forces.
Why don't we just hand out piston conversion kits? That would be way cheaper than replacing the entire fucking rifle.
I've never confirmed it, so it's entirely possible it's simply a rumor, but I've heard that several special forces (U.S.) units are given an allowance to purchase their own sidearm. Totally wouldn't work for rifles or whatever, but I think for sidearms it is pretty neat.
Sidearms is a good idea because some people are more comfortable shooting certain handguns.

This has probably been said in the three other pages I didn't read, but they're not cancelling the SCAR, they're just using the SCAR-H with the 7.62 barrel, over the SCAR-L with the 5.56.
I was under the impression that they received new guns every time they got promoted.
You've been playing too much BF2.
Banning gold members makes me hard though. HARD. H.A.R.D.
what an awful waste of two 05 accounts too
Why don't we just hand out piston conversion kits? From what I've seen, all these guns seem the same. I believe that the main problem with the AR-15 platform is that it jams too often, so get something gas-piston oriented. That 7.62 X 39mm compatibility thing sounded interesting though.
Fucking US military cancels everything Land Warrior Comanche SCAR XM8 I get the Comanche but the others don't make that much sense to me.
The land warrior was just wayyy too expensive.
I think the Bushmaster/Remmington ACR would be a good choice for special forces thanks to it's ability to swap out ammo and barrel types really easily. Plus the thing is easy as shit to take apart, clean, and put back together.
Good. Hopefully they'll remember to take it out of L4D2 because it's a fucking shit gun.
The land warrior was just wayyy too expensive.
That and most of it was useless (or more accurately, situational), heavy, prone to failure, and a bit too fragile. A stripped down version is supposedly in the pipe though, made to emphasize the more important parts.
Dang. My cousin went off to join the military. He was heading into special forces. He had this little pamphlet of the SCAR L.
Good. Hopefully they'll remember to take it out of L4D2 because it's a fucking shit gun.
FYI: The SCAR in L4D2 is in no way a representation of the Real Life SCAR.
AR carbines w/ MOE Gear are the best looking.
I need some furniture like that. Looks amazing.
That's because they're more light infantry guys rather than the classic US Army Special Forces.
Direct action capable unit is the correct term IIRC, every other country just calls their equivalent forces Commandos. But yeah, like the brit RMCs, they really are just highly specialized Light Infantry.
By the way, just saying here, the SA80 isn't a gun, it's a series of 5.56 weapons.
It's a good thing our soldiers are using 'Stopping Power Pro'.
By the way, just saying here, the SA80 isn't a gun, it's a series of 5.56 weapons.
More or less the equivalent to calling an M16A4 an AR-15, isn't it?
I like the SCAR-L People used to call it the SCAR-Locke variant after me :saddowns:
More or less the equivalent to calling an M16A4 an AR-15, isn't it?
I guess, you have to be specific with it. The L22a1, L85a1, L85a2, L86a1, L86a2, L98a1 and L98a2 are all SA80 so uh... Also for people saying the L85 has reliability issues, it does, but they fixed that a long time ago with the a2, now the only problem is accuracy (one shot fine, second shot not so fine).
What we REALLY need is a firearm that can accept all forms of 7.62mm rounds. .308, x39, x54, x63...
What we REALLY need is a firearm that can accept all forms of 7.62mm rounds. .308, x39, x54, x63...
Not practical at all, unless you mean one that has the ability to convert with relative ease. As for accuracy, I haven't used the L85 myself, but I haven't heard of any complaints from soldiers about it's accuracy, infact I've always heard the opposite, that it's a very accurate rifle.
Nobody has said in this thread that the L85 has reliability issues.

something of that sort, but without the shitty reliability.

Not practical at all, unless you mean one that has the ability to convert with relative ease.
No, I mean no conversion necessary. It can take all those without any change to the gun itself.
No, I mean no conversion necessary. You're talking about a firearm that auto regulates and adapts it's parts. The T1000 of firearms.

The only part that would need any kind of 'adaptation' is the width. A .308 and a 30-06 are the same width, for example. They just have different lengths.
