Holy shit this woman should be fired.
She says that she doesn't agree with gay kids, but it's the same with special needs children and that the kid needs to make the right choice towards god. I'm glad to know that children with mental and physical disorders made the wrong choices too.
That school counselor is just lovely.
Yeehaw, good 'ol Southern Indiana makin the news again, 45 miles away from me.
Please burn down their prom
Please burn down their prom
Naaah, crash the prom instead. With fabulousness. Gay crash :v:
I wish every time something like this happened the ones guilty of being this retarded should be slapped in the face.
Please burn down their prom
better yet let's plant a gay couple in their church, and have them dance infront of the bigots. B)
I have a feeling the gays they're discriminating against are the ones with the 'gay accent'. Or at least the gays that have 'no purpose in their life.'
While we're at it, why don't we fix racism by having blacks drink from different drinking fountains so noone's gonna call 'em racist slurs while they're drinking.
Point taken. Rate me boxes.
Wait wait wait wait wait, so when Atheists at some other school get mad because the graduation is held in a jesus-dome, its okay to let them run their own thing. but when Religious dudes at a school want to have a prom for themselves because they don't want one with gay people, OH OH OH NOW ITS A PROBLEM. nobody is forcing anyone to go to anything. If they want to run their own prom on their ownresources, then fuckin yeah let them do what they want at their own event. Mormons do it all the time, they call them Mormon proms. Its just Mormons, but each member is allowed (and encouraged) to bring 1 non-member with them. Why is nobody pitching a fit about those? Yeah I disagree with the school officials being assholes about it, but why is it wrong that they want to do their own thing for themselves?
"'So the same goes for gays? Do you think they have a purpose in life?' No I honestly don't. Sorry, but I don't. I don't understand it.
homophobia in a nutshell
She says that she doesn't agree with gay kids, but it's the same with special needs children and that the kid needs to make the right choice towards god. I'm glad to know that children with mental and physical disorders made the wrong choices too.
No, if you read it she's actually saying that there is a purpose and a reason for everyone in life. Except for gay people. She's essentially saying homosexuals are completely worthless as people and will never amount to anything in life. How the fuck she's a counselor I don't know.
Should really start a campaign to get her fired.
Maybe because they're teaching their kids to be homophobic just because they are?
What and the athiest kids in the previous example aren't being taught to desipise religion simply because their parents despise it?
Wait wait wait wait wait, so when Atheists at some other school get mad because the graduation is held in a jesus-dome, its okay to let them run their own thing. but when Religious dudes at a school want to have a prom for themselves because they don't want one with gay people, OH OH OH NOW ITS A PROBLEM. nobody is forcing anyone to go to anything. Not to hate each other for the way we are.
What and the athiest kids in the previous example aren't being taught to desipise religion simply because their parents despise it?
Most athiest people I know don't outwardly despise religion but rather don't choose to participate in it. I wouldn't think they'd be brainwashing their kids to hate religion, but rather choose whichever path they feel is best for them.
What and the athiest kids in the previous example aren't being taught to desipise religion simply because their parents despise it?
I think it's more that atheists, or even non-religious people, hold the whole separation of church and state thing to a little bit higher of a degree. I mean, if you don't believe in something and are forced to attend one of their places of worship in order to celebrate your own hard work in school, there's a bit of a reason to be mad. I dunno, I suppose those bigots could have their own prom, but that doesn't address the problem. Fact is, they were initially trying to get the prom to be segregated. I'm sorry if "gay is wrong" is your opinion, but when that opinion gets in the way of rights of others, it's a wrong one.
What and the athiest kids in the previous example aren't being taught to desipise religion simply because their parents despise it?
Religion and sexuality are two different things here. One is a way of thinking about what happens after you die and are ways of thinking about the divine, while the other is a lifestyle and dictates how you live huge parts of your life, such as having a family and who you love. You can hate someone for what they believe in sure, but hating someone just because they exist is so much more. Religion is a choice, your sexuality isn't.
On a side note, I don't know any atheists that were "indoctrinated" into atheism by their parents. They all sort of just discovered that they didn't like what religion stood for. There goes that merge.
Most athiest people I know don't outwardly despise religion but rather don't choose to participate in it. I wouldn't think they'd be brainwashing their kids to hate religion, but rather choose whichever path they feel is best for them.
Thats what I'm saying, the Atheist families in the previous and very real example were flipping their shit because the graduation was held in a church. They were dead convinced that the whole purpose was to try to convert their kids and as such they wanted to hold the ceremony elsewhere. Are you telling me that that is okay but this thread's situation is not?
I love how they say this like they're the injured party.
I love this especially
"We want to make the public see that we love the homosexuals, but we don't think it's right nor should it be accepted," said a local student.
They know they're being cunts.
Not at all, but graduation in a church isn't anywhere as terrible as outright saying gays are going to amount to nothing.
Thats not my issue. I absolutely agree with you that what was said was terrible and people do deserve to lose their jobs over saying and/or supporting such a comment. My issue is why we're condemning the separate prom, but not condemning a separate graduation.
Because the level of bigotry in this example is much more significant than the graduation, and I'd wager a good portion of it is because more people agree with athiest viewpoints than anti-gay ones.
Funny how christianity is the cause of both problems. ''My 2000 year old bible says this! My 2000 year old bible says that! Durpa durpa durr!'' Id like to see those rednecks get shipped of to pakistan and japan and italy to get a real sense of culture.

Durpa durpa durr!''
Well it's funny because Jesus preached a message of love and tolerance and somehow plenty of Christians manage to be extremely obstinate for the sake of being obstinate.
Because the level of bigotry in this example is much more significant than the graduation, and I'd wager a good portion of it is because more people agree with athiest viewpoints than anti-gay ones.
How does one measure a level of bigotry though? Its either bigoted or its not. Its okay to say "fuck your chruch held graduation because fuck churches" but its REALLY FUCKING WRONG to say "fuck your prom because fuck gay people"?? Its the same thing, just spun around. Two opposite groups disagreeing with something on the other side. Both sides want to do something else, yet its only okay for the atheists to do so.
Who said we weren't. And who are 'we'?
The general opinion of the people in that thread, myself included, had no issue with them holding their own graduation as long as they didn't expect the school to suddenly pay for it as the church was letting them use it free of charge.
Well it's funny because Jesus preached a message of love and tolerance and somehow plenty of Christians manage to be extremely obstinate for the sake of being obstinate.
I know, its just their dumb inbred literal interpretation of the bible that's the root cause of it. Jesus could have been some alien for all we know setting some moral guidelines for human society, if he did exist.
