I must be fucking deaf because I've had loud noises go through mine and I didn't even wince at it.
You really can't blame them. The only two circumstances under which someone who is not a medical doctor can pronounce someone dead, is if the body is showing obvious signs of decomposition, or if the head is completely severed from the body, and even then it's sort of a grey area.

Try tapping hard with your fingernail.
It's like...
WOOHF.
And you can feel your ear contract.
Wouldn't really consider him lucky, isn't it the longer you go without treatment the worse your situation gets?
Golden hour. There's a reason ambulances have lights and air ambulances exists. This guy's chances got seriously lowered due to this delayed.

My friend has screamed into it and it didn't effect me. I'm probably just deaf.
My question is why did they not even bother to check the body? Reading the article it says they just saw the man in the porsche, said "well he couldn't have survived THAT!" and continued on.
Hell even if he was obviously dead, you'd think they'd still get the body out of the car pretty quickly.
