Because that would be the smart thing to do, something the US government has a hard time comprehending.
Then why don't they legalize it? I mean they must have a good cause right?
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh the naivete
I'd like to see those hurpaderpa "STATES REIGHTS!! SECEED!" people defend this.
California would be so screwed if they seceded. [editline]17th October 2010[/editline] any state would actually, but California in particular
Then why don't they legalize it? I mean they must have a good cause right?
If you're serious, you're naive as fuck. If you're joking, and are implying there's something medically wrong and morally wrong with it, don't bother, you'll be torn to bits in here. [editline]17th October 2010[/editline]
I'd like to see those hurpaderpa "STATES REIGHTS!! Fuck Holder.

These propositions don't really mean much if they contravene federal law. Federal law trumps state law.
These propositions don't really mean much if they contravene federal law. Federal law trumps state law.
LOL NO. pretty sure it's in the constitutions that states rights are above federal rights.
LOL NO. pretty sure it's in the constitutions that states rights are above federal rights.
The Supremacy Clause. Which is in the constitution.
So it's going to be like the american gun law? Legal but still illegal in most ways?
It'll only be legal in that it was technically passed into state law if this proposition succeeds. However, that is meaningless as state judges are still obligated to prosecute for it as cannabis is still an illegal drug under federal law.
Supposedly there has not been any official studies of weed on health because it is illegal. However even if studies were to show a list of negative health effects I would still support it because people should be allowed to smoke weed just like they can drink alcohol.
Who gives a fuck? Seriously just legalize it already and give it restrictions generally like being drunk. (Maybe not exactly the same but you get what I mean, hopefully.) By leaving it illegal, there's too many people out there who are decent people who are getting labeled as criminals purely because they smoke a little weed.
They're just scared of it because hippies like it.
Ok. English guy here. I'm so fucking confused over what could happen if this proposition goes through. Let me get this straight. * The Federal Body would consider weed illegal. * The State body would consider weed legal. * If you smoked up at home, the police, who answer to the state wouldn't arrest you * But technically, any federal police (the only body I could think of is the FBI, but I'm sure that they have better things to be doing) could arrest you for doing exactly the same thing. And the state police couldn't stop them? * If you got arrested for something else, I dunno, a brick of cocaine or something. If you showed up in court, you would be tried under.... federal law? And so even though can't be arrested for it, you could be tried for possestion of both the coke AND the weed? God this is confusing.
I hate fascists. So what if I want to smoke a blunt, what right does the government have to call it detrimental to society?
Do you even know what fascism is? Smoke weed erry day man

These studies have been hidden and considered fake by the State though, since their aim was to obviously "tell people the truth" about weed being a drug leading to Heroin. Well, wasn't it kind of obvious that this would happen?
This just won't happen. Obama already pledged not to prosecute medical marijuana users in states that have legalized it and this will call into doubt America's claim of being a democracy if it happens. If state laws mean nothing then they should be abolished. Obviously they do mean something and they should be respected as such. [editline]17th October 2010[/editline] I'm pretty sure the money spent on policing and perhaps court cases will not be less than the money gathered from fining. It's a gigantic waste of money.
Obama can't just say, don't prosecute these people. Congress voted it into law. He is required to enforce it.
* But technically, any federal police (the only body I could think of is the FBI, but I'm sure that they have better things to be doing) could arrest you for doing exactly the same thing. And the state police couldn't stop them?
The DEA agents and US Marshals could probably arrest you under federal law. Along with the police, which maybe could be overrided when it goes to court by a jury or the district attorney. It's a really slippery slope.
I swear if I lived in CA when it was legalized and some DEA officer tried to arrest me, I would kick their fucking ass for assaulting me.
I swear if I lived in CA when it was legalized and some DEA officer tried to arrest me, I would kick their fucking ass for assaulting me.
Or more likely they'd use their training and kick your fucking ass.
I swear if I lived in CA when it was legalized and some DEA officer tried to arrest me, I would kick their fucking ass for assaulting me.
Looool.
Holder's basically saying "Legal weed will ruin society because we don't know what to do if it's legalized"
I swear if I lived in CA when it was legalized and some DEA officer tried to arrest me, I would kick their fucking ass for assaulting me.
No you wont.
I find it hard to believe that federal law enforcement would waste their resources on arresting stoners with dimebags. I've heard that sometimes they'll go to a medical marijuana place just to make an example but don't they have bigger fish to fry?
No you wont.
With a gun he would.
I sure hope California taxes the shit out of legalized marijuana, just like cigarettes and alcohol.
Good one, I see you enjoy your sin taxes that really only affect the poor.
I don't care for the drug, and I think if used right it can be nice to have, but it needs to be legalized to slow down drug runners.
