Again, the same for any crime committed in the US, regardless of your position.
Why is this man so special so as to receive a lighter sentence than anyone else?
Where are you getting that he's being treated special?
You can't exactly compare this to anyone else since only one profession can possibly have this accusation.
30 days? wow yeh that'll show him
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
at least he's getting demoted
People always say this, "Just 30 days?"
They never stop to think that 30 days is a long time in jail. 30 days of no friends, no family, no freedom. 30 days of monotony.
Highly doubtful, many jobs don't really give a shit about prison sentences, they just need to know it doesn't effect your work.
You really don't get how it works in the US. Pretty much every business DOES give a shit. McDonalds will not even hire him.
And you think that being an EMT somehow makes you morally superior to everyone. Thing is, you can't count on contact from the Taliban. It is intermittent. Military guys do dumb shit on the fly, it is really hard to premeditate what he did.
Thank you for (not really) addressing my question Mr Soldier Man.

Exactly. This guy doesn't have a prison history so, just like anybody else, he's not going to get a hefty sentence.
That's not exclusive to soldiers.
Thank you for (not really) addressing my question Mr Soldier Man.
Thanks for the sarcastic as fuck response. Look, I can't know exactly what he was thinking, neither can you. However, in a deployed environment, you live day by day. Pretty much all thinking is spur of the moment decisions that are completely born out of impulse.

First of all, I have never made that inclination nor have I ever used my occupation as an argument of morality. Have fun trying to find an example.
Second of all, you're trying to justify this, as I expected to do. You literally refuse to believe that a US soldier could do anything bad on his own volition. This was premeditated, they took a fucking image for fucks sake. It's not like he blacked out and woke up standing over the corpse. Does it matter if he thought before hand if he would do it? They killed them, walked over and did the entire thing, there is no room for error.

I don't NEED to know what he was thinking. Actions speak louder, mate. You can see it in the photo, clear as day, his mentality doesn't fucking matter other than he did wrong.

That sounds like nonsense. That would be an awful state of mind for such an environment.
You really don't get how it works in the US. Pretty much every business DOES give a shit. McDonalds will not even hire him.
EMS will hire convicted people if they get a clear from the State. And they are VERY stingy with whom they let in. And for the record, McDonalds does hire people convicted of a crime.
There are provisions, dude. Sounds like YOU don't quite understand how it works in the US.

You ever been deployed to a combat zone? No. Trust me, that is how stuff works.

Neither have you
He legally got a plea agreement. You can argue for a heavier sentence, but in the end he got a plea agreement and there is NOTHING you can do about it.
That's not the fucking point, have you failed first grade reading comprehension or some shit?

Little miss soldier.

argument from authority?

First things first, I am not your fucking mate, cut that shit out. Second, wherever did I try to justify his actions. I literally have said that I support his sentencing and what he did was awful and reprehensible. I am just simply saying that we all make impulsive decisions, and his got him in deep shit. His fault, he did wrong, he is getting punished. He got a plea deal, it is over. You can't extend that sentence so you might as well accept it.
A year would be fine, 30 days seem like a slap on the wrist.
A year because he pissed on a body? You do realize that despite what he did the shit they go through over there might as well be his sentence. 30 days is pretty reasonable.
I don't see how this is news, soldiers have been pissing on the bodies of their fallen enemies for thousands of years. Its a very symbolically powerful statement and obviously the taliban would understand it considering how barbaric they are.
Neither have you
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all the rockets fired at me, or the battle damaged aircraft I need to repair.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all the rockets fired at me, or the battle damaged aircraft I need to repair.
Maybe you should stand infront of one of those rockets
I'll be sure to piss on your body

Thing is it is a morally and legally reprehensible action that goes against our core values. There is no excuse for such unprofessional conduct.
You really don't get how it works in the US. Pretty much every business DOES give a shit. McDonalds will not even hire him.
Have you ever been convicted and/or served time? Cause it sounds like you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about

It's kind of repulsive and bad for their local reputation, you know. He did something stupid and got slapped on the wrist for it, fair enough in my opinion.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all the rockets fired at me, or the battle damaged aircraft I need to repair.
are you one of those guys that stay at base and repair stuff?
First things first, I am not your fucking mate, cut that shit out.
It's as if there are different cultural vocabularies. What a crazy concept.

You're taking this tough love approach where you're trying to tell us that somehow this is an excusable act. It was pre-meditated, regardless of when it happened, the thought entered his little fucked up head and he carried it out.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all the rockets fired at me, or the battle damaged aircraft I need to repair.
That doesn't prove anything at all and I can't begin to tell you how over dramatised this post is.
Have you ever been convicted and/or served time? Cause it sounds like you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about
One of my family members is a correctional officer and my stepdad served time. Trust me, I know exactly what the job environment is for people convicted of crimes.
Thing is it is a morally and legally reprehensible action that goes against our core values. There is no excuse for such unprofessional conduct.
Your core values are killing people. You realise that right?
I think it's fair because it sounds like what a normal citizen would get.
I mean desecrating a body in general is like 1-3 years maybe.
If they have no criminal record, then that person would almost always get a lighter sentence than that.
If this guy didn't have a record, then less than a year sounds about right to me.
I dislike soldiers and I dislike killing others
but I sorta dislike Skeea just for being Skeea
It's as if there are different cultural vocabularies. What a crazy concept.
It is my understanding that mate is equivalent to "dude" or "friend", correct me if I am wrong.

Ok? What he did is still wrong on all levels.
That doesn't prove anything at all and I can't begin to tell you how over dramatised this post is.
I am in a fucking combat zone, deal with it. A few of my buddies have died, and I take incoming fire. How much more of a combat zone can it get?

One of my family members is a correctional officer and my stepdad served time. Trust me, I know exactly what the job environment is for people convicted of crimes.
Obviously you fucking don't. The only time an employer gives a fuck about your record is if you were convicted of a violent crime or robbery. To say this guys life is over because he pisses on corpses is highly fucking idiotic.
Your core values are killing people. You realise that right?
Yep. And I have no problem with it.
