One of my family members is a correctional officer and my stepdad served time. Trust me, I know exactly what the job environment is for people convicted of crimes.
You really think a 30 day sentence has the implications of a Felony? Are you fucking serious?
A 30 day sentence is no more alarming than say, 1000 hours of community service. I've seen people get into larger jobs with convictions larger then this.
Obviously you fucking don't. The only time an employer gives a fuck about your record is if you were convicted of a violent crime or robbery. To say this guys life is over because he pisses on corpses is highly fucking idiotic.
It shows a severe lack of professionalism on his part, and a business would not want to be saddled with the stigma of hiring "that dude that pissed on people he killed."
Yep. And I have no problem with it.
but those people have families :'(
lets not forget the dead body at one point was trying to kill him
Yep. And I have no problem with it.
Well I know you have no problem with it. You're an uneducated child playing soldier, it comes with the territory.

As opposed to just killing them.
lets not forget the dead body at one point was trying to kill him
Well that doesn't mean you can do the ultimate disrespect and piss on his dead body
Yep. And I have no problem with it.
slightly disturbing

The whole thing changes due to the "military" aspect. committing highly unprofessional acts while in a military organization reflects VERY poorly. There is no way this man is getting an honorable discharge. A court martial has severe implications, otherwise he would have just gotten NJP'd.
I am in a fucking combat zone, deal with it. A few of my buddies have died, and I take incoming fire. How much more of a combat zone can it get?
Actually being in an actual combat zone?
Just getting a few mortars your way doesn't mean you can say you understand the mentality of a front-line soldier more than the rest of us. You're no more knowledgeable then an Israeli living on the border

Theres your problem.

You need to see your councilor right away.

And you're basing this off of what?

You seem to forget that I am surrounded by infantry. I understand a hell of a lot better than you.

If you don't have a criminal record, you can get a light sentence such as 30 days for a felony.
A very low qualifying felony, but it's very possible if they have no history.
I keep bringing that up but it seems to be ignored.

You make it sound like he massacred a village. No one is going to overlook all his military training and experience just because he pissed on a corpse. Also he could turn around and sue a company that refused to hire him on that basis.

Have you killed anyone yet, yes or no?
Because with your attitude, you sure as shit should not be handling a firearm.
'I'm fine with killing people' is something someone who has never shot at a living thing says.

You seem to forget that I knowingly joined an organization whose entire purpose in life is to kill people and break things. It is us or them, and it sure as hell isn't going to be me if I can help it. =

You can legitimately turn away people with criminal records as long as you state prior, with no legal pitfalls.

Second hand sources. I can acquire the same knowledge, using YOUR standards, by reading a book.
Yeah, it's not like the Geneva convention specifically labels desecration and mistreatment of the dead as a war crime!
Yyyep.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the rules established by the Geneva convention only apply to combatants who are wearing some sort of uniform that distinguishes them from civilians? I'm assuming most Afghani freedom fighters don't.

Except there's a different between civilian courts and military courts. Military courts are much harsher and soliders are held to higer standards, hence why 30 days is a light sentence with no long-term implications. Unless he got a dishonorable discharge with his sentence (which he didn't), then his sentencing is symbolic at most.

Like I said, I am given a weapon for the entire purpose of killing another human being. I was also issef a grenade launcher to kill several at once if need be. No, havent killed anyone. I will when needed however.

You realize you are basically just serving the agenda of a bunch of 60-year-old men who conduct our politics and send people like you to war, right?
You realize that the military is used as a labor force when there are natural disasters, right?
You realize that they think the exact same thing, and you can't justify anything with, 'us or them', right?
You seem to forget that I knowingly joined an organization whose entire purpose in life is to kill people and break things. It is us or them, and it sure as hell isn't going to be me if I can help it. =
It wouldn't be "us" or "them" if you didn't join the "us" you nonce.
Yep. And I have no problem with it.
this is why people critique or demonize the US military
you are also part of why the US army targets youths with a certain mentality in public schools: "i'm hardcore and i'm unbeatable grrr"
stop coming into every US army thread and advertising that you're part of it because we all fucking know that you do vocational work for helicopters in stressful environments - it isn't your life mission to tell us that 24/7

So tell me how the fuck you 'know what it's like' if you haven't had to kill anyone yet.
Tell me how the fuck you think you'd be perfectly fine with killing people, when you have yet to harm a butterfly?
It looks like you really need to be reevaluated for your position if that's your mentality.
Nah guys General Fluttershy is right, this dudes life is over! I mean, now people will say snide things about that time he got locked up for a month (!), he may as well off himself now.
