I love how you people mindlessly jump on the GFWL SUCKS OMG MICROSHIT HAS ABANDON US 4 EXBAWKS!!111 bandwagon. :bandwagon: It's a perfectly fine system. Get over it.
Except for the fact that it's an awful way to standardize the Windows platform by shoehorning a combination of DRM, bad overlays and a terrible program.

Get over it.
It's really not. It's far too invasive for what it is. Either go steam like and help me launch and update my games or fuck off away from my saves. It has stupid amounts of downtime, during which you can't retrieve your account and for some games, saves that are already on your machine. Steam does everything it does, 500x better.
My dislike of GfWL comes entirely from having to use it, no bandwagon for me.
Certainly a little competition isn't a bad thing? This can only make the services better/cheaper for the consumers.
Remember how it turned out for microsoft when they joined the console war?
Remember how it turned out for microsoft when they joined the console war?
Yeah, they made millions in what can only be described as a "ridiculous money fountain of success".
I wonder how this will turn out.
Yeah, they made millions in what can only be described as a "ridiculous money fountain of success".
...Along with horrible lines of failures as well (huge amounts of security flaws in Xbox 1, and huge amounts of hardware flaws in 360) Those who marked me dumb obviously don't know shit
Oh wow, Mac-lover much?
Maybe, possibly, he's a linux fan instead? :kiddo:
Microsoft is drunk.
Valveosoft.
I like the sound of MicroValve better.
I've had serious problems with how G4WL worked on Fallout 3 to the point that I turned it off after the second day playing. Though unfortunately it is unavoidable when I play DoW II Games on Demand I can't see doing much unless they take an approach like Steam does with discounts and a decent selection of titles. But Microsoft has the resources and potential to make some waves in this market, so I wouldn't count them out just yet, but we'd better hope they don't give valve any ideas.
I don't understand how I could be rated late considering I posted it four and a half hours after the article was released. On a related note I agree with Rotinaj, maybe this will increase all those wonderful sales we see on Steam.
i never liked games for windows live and i don't think anyone else really does either so gl w/ this microsoft
Once again, a digital distribution service that will come nowhere in the terms of even rivaling steam.
This'll probably flop like Zune
a what now?
a what now?
I think he's making up shit
Microsoft is great, they gave us Windows, but if they want to make a smart move they should team up with valve to make the ultimate gaming company :science:
In a perfect world we would get: Valve quality games, with the funding of Microsoft. In the real world we would get: Valve trying to be awesome like always, and Microsoft telling them to start shoving out more half-life and get more $$$ or fuck off. Though I really do want some damn EP3 already.
Just fuck off, Microsoft. Nobody likes you
Yeah, apple should take the job instead.
Yeah, apple should take the job instead.
Hah. If you have a desktop, you can never move your saves off, and they're encrypted in a proprietary format. If you have a laptop, you MUST buy an Apple GPS so it can make sure you're in your house while you play. Also you must leave your webcam on, to make sure no one else is playing.
Do they really have to compete in everything?
Do they really have to compete in everything?
and fuck shit up yea
Damnit, I dont want to have to run 40 different DRM programs to play my games.
I don't understand how I could be rated late considering I posted it four and a half hours after the article was released.
I swear, I saw a similar article posted a few weeks back.
Distribution is the last part of the software business that Microsoft doesn't control, and obviously they're trying to gain a monopoly on that as well.
Major flaw in Microsoft's plan to steal customers from Valve: Plenty of Steam users have spent $50+ on games. What the hell does Microsoft expect them to do? Switch over to their service and buy games they already own on a better digital distribution service that actually cares about their customers?
When I see news on Games for Windows Live I think to myself "What did Microsoft fuck up again."
Competition is good for the downloable media economy. Just think... Valve will crank out even more sales if "GoD" ever sees the light of day.
Won't hold a candle to Steam
never going to catch on
