Argos accused of racism after selling black and Asian dolls for £10 less than white toy despite them
The idea is that it's racist because it somehow makes white people be "worth more".
It's a ridiculous thing to get worked up over though, I'm sure it was just a honest mistake.
Would it be racist if you sell white slaves for more than colored ones?

This is wildly off topic, but I would argue that it technically could be, yes. (But not necessarily, it would depend on the reason for the price difference, if it's just because one is black and the other is white then it would be racism).
But that's not the point, even if you agree with that or not I was just pointing out why people (read. a single person) was reacting. This is a stupid thing to get worked up over in the first place though, because there's no reason to think it was anything except a mistake.

Irish slaves used to go for 5 sterling. African slaves for 50. You'd have to choose between 10 expendable Irish and 1 sturdy African that could bear the heat for longer.
Excessive Political Correctness is creating a society of overly sensitive bitches who find wrong in the most mundane and trivial things. I don't like it one bit.

SEXISM!!!!
If I saw this in a store I'd simply laugh. That's it. The world isn't stopping because of a couple price tags on toys.

Especially because a kid isn't going to care about the price.
A white doll considered more expensive than a black doll and an "Asian" doll is the definition of privilege :v:

Irony being I can't take two steps through SH without stepping in a whiny political correctness post.

I hope not. I have no idea how I could live knowing people are on the internet complaining about things and stuff.
This reminds me of this fucking hilarious story I heard on This American Life several weeks ago. It's by a woman who worked in a store that sold these super high-end baby dolls. Holiday season rolls around, and all the white babies sell out. Then the Asian babies. Then the Hispanic babies. Then it came down to a bet on what would sell first: The remaining black babies, or the fucked up monster-like white doll they used for display purposes?
Take one guess what happens.
maybe it was a pricing error in this case, but if for example the black or asian dolls didn't sell as much, wouldn't it be logical to reduce the price?
Yeah it seems to be more of a reflection of society than an deliberate act.
Fucking bullshit. What if they got the white dolls from a different supplier which charged more?
My only question is why does the asian doll have so much hair.
Exactly why make the other babies bald then make the Asian baby have hair it looks odd.
I wish people would shrug it off instead of finding everything intentionally malicious.

If you mean demographics i.e. populations of race then I 100% agree. There are different proportions of race.
The only way tgis is racist is expecting white people to pay 10 pound more. As a white person i find it racist.

This is actually what I was thinking too - like some weird affirmative action type of deal. Of course it's stupid and false, but it's equally as stupid and false as saying there's "lessened value" with the black and Asian dolls, and it's weird that people aren't up in arms about having to pay more.

There seems to be increased interest for white women from other races and it seems to be a partial reference to that.
Here's a video of someone reflecting on it
