Well, when you put it that way it is kind of ridiculous to think it works. I mean there is no proof it works at all, so the fact that alot of people believe in it is surprising. Again, I'm not calling them retarded, it's just surprising.
Meh, it's their beliefs, and like some people have said, they're stubborn about it, saying god works in mysterious ways. When good things do happen, however, they say prayer helps, which is sorta dumb, but it's what they believe, and it makes them feel better, so I'm perfectly fine with it.
So atheists, can you prove there isn't a God?

It'd be a good troll-face if you didn't ignore the good ol' "burden of proof" thing

yes because you see you can't disprove anything 100%, you can only weigh up the evidence and make a logical conclusion on it. So we can say that god is ALMOST 100% -... wait... Oh damn I fell for it. You win then...

Any proof "against" God can be interpreted in many ways, so god-believers will probably ignore it, using various excuses. In the end, you get nothing accomplished.
Not shocked with the news here. I pray to god everytime bad weather approaches to protect me and everyone I know.
And it usually works.
And really, who cares if they believe in God. Sure it may be a ridiculous idea to you, but if they aren't the pushy type of religious person, they're perfectly normal people, just like you or me.
For example, Mormonism is insanely crazy (in my opinion) but the people at my school that are Mormon are all very nice, and very close. Some religions are a community thing, and they like it that way, and it makes them happy.

Unless you change their minds, so they won't ignore it. Which is the point of discussion and argument...

They will ignore it, or effectively ignore it by using excuses to avoid getting into it.

Here is the thing though, most stereotypical atheists are just as bad as the Christians/Catholics/whatever stereotypes they hate.
What I don't understand is why most atheists can act as if they are victims when in reality they are just as bad as the religion they are bashing. I am a believer, but I don't think there is anything wrong with atheists. Do what you will, its all a choice. The fact is that the "bad" atheists are just as if not worse than the "bad" Christians.
Why cant we all just get along I say. We can all have a beer right? Doesn't take a god to determine that.
Poll. They never asked me.

Yeah, I sadly am sometimes (I don't know what's wrong with me) the stereotypical Atheist. But by their logic, religion causes more harm that it saves, and that is debatable, but that's what they believe, so to them they are the victims. But to push your religion/beliefs on people is bad, and Atheists should never do that, as that's what they're trying to stop in the first place.

Okay once again I don't know who your arguing against. No one in the thread so far has gone on some huge tangent on belief in god (apart from my sarcastic comment). I don't care if people believe in god, one of my best friends believes in god.

There's a difference between atheists who want to combat religion, and religion which instigates LEGISLATION against others, and idea that have no logical backing. The two are not the same at all.

Well, I guess I did jump the gun on my debate or whatever I'm doing, but still, it would have happened sometime in this thread.
Lots of people don't understand that God answers all prayers. However, sometimes his answer is "Fuck you."
Well played :golfclap:

I don't think most stereotypical atheists are as bad as extremist religions, it seems like you just pulled that out of your ass. At least stereotypical atheists fight with words instead of guns. Whether you are atheist or not is irrelevant when trying to combat religous institutions that have so much power in the world, especially when their actions and ideals fall short of any logic or reason.

I don't think he's trying to mention the extremists that murder people, because that's just not fair.
When somebody prays, there are three things that might happen:
a)What you were praying happens => God exists; call it a coincidence if you have any braincells
b)What you were praying for happens but with a long delay => believers say that God still exists; It's actually a coincidence. And it's easy to occur. Example:
A kid wishes for a new bike and unintentionally says/shows his parents, kid gets bike for his birthday and becomes a believer.
c)Nothing happens => God doesn't exist.
And if you look at it through the eyes of believers, God responds to 2/3 of prayers.

The second you called people who believe in prayer idiots is the second I stopped caring.
[editline]12:21AM[/editline]
Also, maybe God put his parents there to listen to his prayer?
The second you called people who believe in prayer idiots is the second I stopped caring.
Well, these people rely on the fallacy that correlation=causality. If you use a fallacy as a support for your ideas, those ideas are idiotic.

You know for an all powerful omnipotent and omniscient being god sure does go about things in a really weird way.

And is pretty petty, saying that if you aren't following him, you burn forever.

Or because prayer makes perfect sense to them, because it's their beliefs.

The second you said God made his parents buy him the bike is the second your argument started sounding idiotic.
(At this point it's debatable, which is where the whole "personal beliefs" thing comes in.)
The second you said God made his parents buy him the bike is the second your argument started sounding idiotic.
Because I gave you reason as to why it could have been prayer?

No. Because if God is so all mighty and powerful, he would've just made the bike appear from nowhere.
No. Because if God is so all mighty and powerful, he would've just made the bike appear from nowhere.
But he works in mysterious ways.
Look, it depends how you interpret this stuff, and it depends if you believe in God or not. All this makes sense to someone who believes in God, but I guess you just can't.
Poll of 1000.
Because 1000 people are the voice of the entire population.
