For the last fucking time, there is a huge difference between atheists who talk shit about religious thinking because it's based on faulty premises, and religious people who push through LEGISLATION to get what they want, and deprive others of rights, freedoms, and privileges. To even compare the two in the same vein, is just silly.
I guess, but they're still both bad people.
83% of americans are morons.
Yeah now people can't believe what they want to believe, just because some morons on the internet seem to think that religion is a horrible thing. You all are for promoting gay rights and shit, but you can't even be tolerant to peaceful religious people.
Good job, facepunch, good job.

I believe everyone deserves rights, but this is just sad.
oh no, people have a opinion, quick athiests attack their freedom of religion before it's too late!!!

No one should care what anyone else believes, until that belief starts affecting others. Sadly, what people don't get is, religious thinking happens to influence a disgusting amount of policy, but wait, that's ok! It's just an opinion.
Well i've prayed a few times, and it worked, like when my grandfather was in the hospital, I prayed(I was like 10). A week before, he was diagnosed with cancer, a week or two after I prayed, the tumor was gone. Coincidence probably, but it makes you wonder.

I prayed to my refrigerator and now I have a sandwich.
92% americans say they believe in god. I've lost faith in americans :(
what exactly is wrong with believing in a god?

.
My prares never get answered...
I prayed for a powerstrip for my PC. It didn't work, I had to go to staples and buy one.
oh no, people have a opinion, quick athiests attack their freedom of religion before it's too late!!!
Attacking their freedom of religion would be trying to pass legislature against people thinking what they do. Contrarily, explaining why someone is wrong, pointing out where their arguments are illogical and showing them that they are relying on logical fallacies, is not in anyway, "attacking their freedom of religion".
I prayed to my refrigerator and now I have a sandwich.
I prayed to mine and all I got was this moldy thing.
:saddowns:
People who don't believe in a god can criticize others for it, but we can't.

it all depends if the majority wants it :)

If you can't respect his beliefs how can he respect yours?
I have no problems with religion. Go ahead and believe what you want to believe if it makes you feel better about yourself and the world. The ones that I can't stand are the ones who take their religion literally. Like the people who are convinced that the whole Adam/Eve shindig happened and that the dinosaur bones were placed there by the devil.
Also, with the whole religion/insanity thing, religion does contribute a lot to how people will interact with eachother. Look at the whole Israel/Palestine thing. If there were no Jews/Muslims, they would have all been part of the same people, and had no reason to fucking hate eachother like they do. They wouldn't be blowing themselves up thinking that they would get their 72 virgins, and they wouldn't be wrestling over temples in Jeruselum.
They would just be a bunch of people from Israel.
If I pass with 5 As this year, get accepted into Uni with an unconditional when I apply, my shares in Lloyds bank increase in value, then I'll believe in god. Until then, I won't.
No is an answer
never asked me.
That said, I don't mind religious people, personally I don't really believe in any of that, but you don't see me calling people who do idiots or retarded, who am I to say that?
so inb4 'LOL AMERIKANS R DUM CAUSE THEY BELIVE IN GOD LOL I'M FROM EUROPE' or 'I'M AN ATHEIST SO I KNOW EVERYTHING'
regardless of what you believe you don't have the right to tell another person they can/can't/shouldn't believe in something.
I don't really give a shit. I'm not even surprised. A good amount of these people still practice secular thinking overall.
I don't really give a crap about religion nor do I express faith in a God, but I do like to pray every so often. I don't expect some mysterious invisible man to make things go my way. It's more of a way to voice what I want to happen to myself, to make it more of a tangible task than a nominal option.
For example, I wouldn't simply pray for a car. I would pray for a path to choose in getting the car. I'd ask for ideas to save money or something like that.
Also, I pray to Saint Anthony, not God. He was my confirmation saint and I keep a medallion of him in my wallet. Because he is the 'finder of lost things', I would say something like, "Help me find a way to deal with this.."
Earlier today I noticed St. Anthony in my wallet and tried to think of something I wanted him to help me find or discover, but I couldn't think of anything. So I guess life is good. :)
most people are mindless drones this is not surprising

So you're arguing for a tyranny of the majority? You're a fucking idiot.

Democracy is founded upon choosing.
if the majority chooses a decision no matter how bad or good it is i don't really mind (unless it effects my freedoms).
Everyone in this thread defines retarded as disagreeing with them :(
[editline]11:51PM[/editline]
So? You can't prove that God DOESN'T answer prayer. I mean, I don't believe in God, but just because you believe that the person you BELIEVE to exist helps you, which is what he's supposed to do, doesn't make you retarded. You all think they're retarded because you think "GOD IS SUCH A RIDICULOUS IDEA AND ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN IT IS RETARDED" or something, probably less drastic.
Dear god, can I have an icecream?
No, I suck at my job, fuck off...
You're right!
Prayer sucks ass, meditation is where it's at.
Implying people leave their faith's and the like because it's cool.
