They actually did a thing with that, McDonald's takes as long to break down as any homemade hamburger Right here, I am a source-finding MACHINE today
no kidding home-made hamburgers are also unhealthy the bread should decay much quicker than anything, cutting out that awful processed bread is better than cutting out the meat if you ask me
If you can get a bunch of friends together and keep the meat rolling in constantly and share it it's great, but going hunting solo never really yields much
again il say that it depends on where your at and how smart you are some areas are literally littered with edible wildlife and even getting one kill can feed you for a very long time(in fact your more likely to waste your meat from having too much) [editline]19th May 2011[/editline]
Not legally allowed to keep a deer you hit with a car, as far as I know
that wasnt a serious remark
not after bambi, bro, can never hunt after bambi won't even happen
It's hard to eat really healthy with meat though, the best option is poultry and fish and those just happen to be the most expensive meats. It isn't unheard of to spend $20 on a package of 3-5 chicken breasts here.
True, but strictly speaking the dark meat is just as good for you as the white meat once you dump the calorie restrictions. At the bulk stores in the US you can pick up massive amounts of chicken legs or thighs for prices that are so low that I actually feel bad for the chicken. We're talking like a dollar per lb sometimes. Which could significantly shift how much you spend per day. The calorie density in meat is just so much higher than in vegetables, that it would really shift the numbers there. But regardless, vegetables are still necessary and are insanely expensive for pretty much anyone who doesn't live in California. Lucky bastards get produce for virtually nothing and it lasts for weeks.
Lucky bastards get produce for virtually nothing and it lasts for weeks.
yeah i'm eating an orange right now... jealous?
Not legally allowed to keep a deer you hit with a car, as far as I know
Differs by state in the US. Some allow it. Others strictly forbid it. Alaska, and perhaps a few others, have an interesting system where you sign up to be on a list and in the event that the police encounter a dead animal on the road (deer, elk, moose, or whatever. Nothing small), then they call someone on the list to have them pick it up and that person gets to eat it.
yeah i'm eating an orange right now... jealous?
i am :frown: i havent had a fresh fruit since i dont know how long
yeah i'm eating an orange right now... jealous?
Okay oranges might be the exception. I do live near Florida, after all. :P I am however extremely jealous of the quality of your lettuce and tomatoes. :(
Not legally allowed to keep a deer you hit with a car, as far as I know
Not sure what the law is in Canada, but in the US you are as long as you contact a police officer. They are supposed to check it out to ensure that you didn't shoot it. But nevermind about that because I just read the post that said it differs from state to state.
But the modern diet throws a giant wrench into shit. Carbohydrates in small amounts are expected, but in the modern diet they comprise a huge portion of what we eat. They fuck everything to hell and your body can't compensate because from an evolutionary standpoint, it has no mechanism to do so. Your stomach can break them down and use them for energy, but your body doesn't really know how to handle the excess energy. As a result you gain fat and your blood sugar does this rollercoaster thing all day long.
I was gonna say after 30k years of eating breads and shit as a staple food there's gotta be some weeding out of people who couldn't process them as well as other people, but then I remembered that it was more of a traveling food that far back and only became a staple around 10k, and even then did take a massive observable shit on the lifespan of the people eating it. I wonder if proper barley bread would be any better than the modern supermarket wheat shit.
(EDIT: I wonder if being exposed to extreme cold or heat while on the diet would increase or decrease your ideal weight? Does the body actively recognize fat as a proper insulator and adjust accordingly?)
AFAIK no, because you'll tend to get fatter seasonally when you need to get fatter, the whole eat-while-you-can thing takes care of it. Exception being babies. Fucking babies.
No alligator
Gator is delicious as long as it's put in a soup or something with some spice to throw off the fact that it has the texture of chlorinated rubber.
Healthy food is certainly more expensive here in the UK, for £0.10 I can get a packet of crisps, and for about £0.40 I can get a chocolate bar. For a small pot of fruit for a snack it usually costs around £1 - £2.
Good.
64 cents for a chocolate bar? costs 1.50 around here
We have this store called 'Bargain Booze' which sells products which are almost at their sell by date to scummy chavs.

Chicken is pretty cheap in the Netherlands, and in most Supermarkets you have choice between like 20 brands (not much difference in them though). Eating healthy shouldn't really be a problem. Just lay off the soda, drink water. Also why is Charlievrw dumbing all of thisispain's posts
not to mention the grains and starches its cheap and delicious but will make you fat as fuck in no time
bread makes you fat?
Those aren't foods you can feed a family with genius
If you say so [editline]19th May 2011[/editline]
[release]Healthy eating really does cost more. That’s what University of Washington researchers found when they compared the prices of 370 foods sold at supermarkets in the Seattle area. Calorie for calorie, junk foods not only cost less than fruits and vegetables, but junk food prices also are less likely to rise as a result of inflation. The findings, reported in the current issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, may help explain why the highest rates of obesity are seen among people in lower-income groups. The scientists took an unusual approach, essentially comparing the price of a calorie in a junk food to one consumed in a healthier meal. Although fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients, they also contain relatively few calories. Foods with high energy density, meaning they pack the most calories per gram, included candy, pastries, baked goods and snacks. The survey found that higher-calorie, energy-dense foods are the better bargain for cash-strapped shoppers. Energy-dense munchies cost on average $1.76 per 1,000 calories, compared with $18.16 per 1,000 calories for low-energy but nutritious foods. The survey also showed that low-calorie foods were more likely to increase in price, surging 19.5 percent over the two-year study period. High-calorie foods remained a relative bargain, dropping in price by 1.8 percent. ... Although people don’t knowingly shop for calories per se, the data show that it’s easier for low-income people to sustain themselves on junk food rather than fruits and vegetables, says the study’s lead author Adam Drewnowski, director of the center for public health nutrition at the University of Washington. Based on his findings, a 2,000-calorie diet would cost just $3.52 a day if it consisted of junk food, compared with $36.32 a day for a diet of low-energy dense foods.[/release] Source It's easy to find dozens more studies that show the exact same result across North America. This is why poor people are fat. It has very little to do with willpower or "getting off the couch".
You know you can lower your portions with more calorie dense food and still lose weight yeah? [editline]19th May 2011[/editline] That could be used as a reason as why poor people are unhealthy but not a reason as to why they are obese as fuck because it doesn't cost more to eat less shit food. If you have to eat shit food because of your financial situation you can still always lower your portions and save even more money.
wait what? chicken is the cheapest meat that you can find around here my parents used to practically shove chicken down my familys throats because it was cheap enough fish is the expensive one, and you can substitute real fish for shrimp to get the omega 3 and crap
It depends on what part of the chicken you are buying, what quality, etc. You can get chicken drumsticks and thighs for super cheap. But breasts are much more expensive. Easily more than double the price. Basically when it comes to chickens anything that has a bone in it is cheap, and anything that ain't got a bone costs more. [editline]19th May 2011[/editline]
That could be used as a reason as why poor people are unhealthy but not a reason as to why they are obese as fuck because it doesn't cost more to eat less shit food. If you have to eat shit food because of your financial situation you can still always lower your portions and save even more money.
Many poor people engage in depression eating. Many poor people think they are supposed to eat until they feel "full." Many poor people are ignorant of basic caloric counting concepts. Many poor people are super terrible at math. Poor people are, generally speaking, pretty dumb. And dumb people are, generally speaking, pretty fat. Fat, dumb, and poor generally all go together and each problem feeds the others.
Alright did a quick tibit of research... In NY, if a deer is runned over out-of-season, and otherwise, the hitter is charged the fund for a deer tag, and the meat is donated to a soup kitchen or given to someone through something similar to the Alaskan Road Kill draw. BUT. If the deer is killed in season, and the hunter has a tag they can take the deer.
It's really a good thing, if you're obese enough that its a medical problem you need some kind of incentive to lose weight, which most people don't have. Except for medical problems which they don't really care about.
Well yeah but in the end of the day it's your decision what the fuck do you do with your life. And here the government tells you what to do with it.
Well yeah but in the end of the day it's your decision what the fuck do you do with your life. And here the government tells you what to do with it.
Your rights end where mine begin. As someone who has to pay for my own insurance, I have the right to not have to pay for someone else's shitty choices. Fatties are more expensive to care for than people of a normal weight, and they drive up the cost of health care for everyone.

Call me paranoid for this, but I would try to remove the oil by squeezing it or removing any visible source of fat from every meat I eat. It's usually time consuming and it doesn't really taste good, but I'm fine with it.

A lot of the juices are fat, but that doesn't at all bother me because I don't eat a lot of fatty foods. I really dislike greasy foods in which your hands get messy, but that's just because I hate dirty hands. Pizza is really unappealing when there is a ton of grease on it.
