where is "the pros and cons of hitch-hiking: the game" by roger waters inc??? i paid gamespot good money for that review.
It's a boring game with no objectives and tries to push itself as art.
Have you actually played it? Because I completely disagree, and so do many other people It doesn't try to push itself as art at all. It's a legitimately good platformer, with a similar narrative and gameplay style of Knytt except with its own little spin on it. Its boring if you crave action all the time sure, but so is Jorney and that game is not only critically acclaimed as well but pretty damn awesome to play if you have any capacity to appreciate something like it.
new super mario bros 2 (3??) game of the year this year all years
ME3 had very enjoyable game play and the plot was decent until the end.
They kinda butchered the Joker/EDI relationship though. [sp]The only reason I'm bringing that up is because the rest of the issues with ME3 have been discussed to death already.[/sp]
"Pretty decent" isn't GOTY material either. This year has been pretty stagnant in regards to games IMO.
I say pretty decent, not in the context of the games being only "pretty decent" but the actual list itself being pretty decent. It's only been stagnant if you've not looked in the right places.
Haha dishonored, ME3 and walking dead? These games are terrible

Well I'll just put you back where you were.
Haha dishonored, ME3 and walking dead? These games are terrible
I'd like to hear what you think is better.
Dishonored should win something for its amazing level design/art. The world Viktor Antonov and Arkane created is amazing. Gameplay-wise it was kind of disappointing, because it feels like it tries to build an entire open world for you to explore when it's not - all the levels are explorable, but definitely closed. You read stories from characters in the game, but you'll never ever meet them. Not to mention you go from point A to B all the time, the very few optional objectives are gimmicks, the game lasts just a few hours, and the ending is a joke. The combat system was really fun though.
Wait, Walking Dead as in Telltale's Walking Dead? I mean, it's good, but it's certainly not the best they've done.
Wait, Walking Dead as in Telltale's Walking Dead? I mean, it's good, but it's certainly not the best they've done.
It's game of the year, not game of all time.
Wait, Walking Dead as in Telltale's Walking Dead? on the other hand, i fully expect Journey to get indie game of the year like Flower did, and perhaps best score. this pleases me. also i hope black "sold by literal war criminal oliver north" ops 2 doesn't get shit (it will)
frankly i'm fucking sick of the "oh crikey we've taken the art style of this one thing and made it all cartoony and exaggerated and bouncy! it's so unique!" when all it is is grabbing some vertices in 3dsmax and ramming your cock into the "scale" button. they should try making an original artstyle for once.
It's supposed to imitate the style of a comic book.
$5 mass effect will win GOTY and cod/halo will win fucktons of awards in the rest of the categories.
It's supposed to imitate the style of a comic book.
comic books generally have realistic but stylized art styles. as a long fan of The Punisher and Batman i can safely assure you that Walking Dead is not how a fucking comic book looks. it looks almost identical to their BTTF games, just darker.
They can nominate whatever they want, but when they have a category for Best Graphics but not for Best Story, and Spec Ops: The Line is nowhere to be seen, I lose what little faith I had left in video game journalism.
Not surprising. Terrible, overhyped games always win those awards.
It will most likely be Mass Effect 3 just simply because of its scale and production levels. Which is sad, considering the original fanbase know it's a schlock of a sequel. In-coming inevitable re-release with all the DLC and new ending.
I'm hoping the new Mass Effect gets rid of the generic Bioware "chosen one save us with your band of misfits" main plot that they use in all of their games and is a bit more open-ended/sandbox. And also lets you choose something besides a human in a sci-fi universe... Bioware can do contained side stories and worldbuilding well but they really need a new formula for the main story.
so is the walking dead actually a spectacular game or was it just like pretty much like every other telltale game but it just so happened to be about a popular tv series?
I've never played another Telltale game (I should probably get around to fixing that), but I can tell you that TWD has well-written, loveable and realistic characters, tense and difficult decisions that matter about as much as they can matter in a game, interesting plots that leave you wanting more, and fairly good puzzle-solving elements. I honestly can't think of anything else that I've played this year more deserving of a GOTY award.

Please don't use the "Well, if you're a TRUE fan" fallacy to demonstrate your opinion. I don't want it to win Game of the Year, but I don't think it's "schlock" either. My personal nominees this year: Journey, Borderlands 2, X-Com (maybe), and Dishonored. I haven't played Halo 4, so I can't really judge whether or not that one is deserving.
NSMBU and ZombiU are nominated in the category for best WiiU game. Do you see the fucking problem with the VGAs, folks?
The Walking Dead deserves to be called the GOTY. It's one of the best games I've ever played. And it's different from the games that usually get GOTY awards.
How many game parts does it have so far anyways? and whats the cost of all parts together so far? I should watch the show and afterwards consider it. However there are many currently 60$ games I'm also considering and I don't exactly have a "boatload of cash". to see a show turned into a game and still retain quality it a wonderfully powerful thing.
Borderlands 2 deserves to be up there, that game's amazing.
where's cortex command 1.0 easily GOTY for me.

Worth it I'd say. However it's a point and click game, so it may not suit everyone, I wasn't really interested in it when it came out just because of that. Edit: Oh, a lot of people are saying that TWD game is more true to the comic than the show is. Read the comics instead.
There are several games I am really hoping win this.
