http://www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2012-nominees/voting/best-graphics Why is Halo 4 there?
Because is has amazing graphics for running on an Xbox 360, and such obsolete hardware.
Walking Dead deserves it. When it was announced that Telltale was developing the Walking Dead game, I remember being disappointed that all we were getting was a point and click adventure game. I couldn't of been more wrong. Telltale went above and beyond; Great story, great characters, and really made you feel something. That said, Max Payne 3 was pretty amazing as well, and I too think it's being overlooked. Also looking Forward to Persona 4 Golden, and it's shame it wasn't nominated for best handheld game.
Halo 4 had nice graphics and all but definitely doesn't deserve the GOTY for best graphics... Honestly I can't think of any outstanding games that came out this year, for me that is.
The Walking Dead deserves to be called the GOTY. It's one of the best games I've ever played. And it's different from the games that usually get GOTY awards.
It's not a game though.... It's an interactive story.
ME3 had very enjoyable game play and the plot was decent until the end.
Decent? I enjoy mass effect 3 but damn did most of its plot blow. Most of the plot focused on Cerberus, which while an interesting group, (until 3) should have been secondary to the long established reaper plot. Cerberus got plenty of attention in 2, they didn't need to be main focus for 3/4s of 3. Not to mention 3 transformed Cerberus from a split cell structure of independent agendas with one true leader into some sort of generic sci fi pmc run by the illusive man. How on earth does a such a divided conflicting group scrape together enough dosh to fund armies outfitted with top of the line Mary sue equipment? Only good sections of the plot were curing the genophage (a long foreshadowed event that not only expanded the krogans backstory but also a natural conclusion to two memorable squad mates) and the geth quarian confliction (once again, a long foreshadowed event that expanded two races back stories that had multiple unique outcomes).

Wow, best PC games. Two action RPG's, an MMO, and an RTS. I'm having trouble picking which is the least boring.
Wow, best PC games. Two action RPG's, an MMO, and an RTS. I'm having trouble picking which is the least boring.
xcom, noted RTS
I am predicting the awards will be a catastrophy on an international level
business as usual
http://www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2012-nominees/voting/best-graphics Why is Halo 4 there?
Halo 4's graphics are pretty good, especially for being on the 360.
It's not a game though.... It's an interactive story.
in the form of a game
xcom, noted RTS
wow I need sleep, meant to just type strategy game but typed RTS.
I'm surprised that no one has noted the grave injustice that is Starbound not being nominated. Granted it may not even be released this year, but if 11 day old games can be nominated, why not Starbound?
Were there literally so few games released that Dishonored, Halo 4, Call of Duty, Borderlands 2 and Assassins Creed 3 need to be on every list besides the niche ones? like why not best ps3 exclusive game rather than just having the same first 3 as best xbox game then a console specific one was there really this low an amount of games released in 2012?
The winner will be whoever pays spike the most money
Where the shitbag is XCOM. That is an example of a quality game.
I could be remembering the game wrong, but wasn't that 70% of ME3's story, right there?
I might have gotten the scale wrong but Cerberus still takes up more than their fair share of the game.
The PC choices are terrible... With the exception of Xcom.
that's really not the worst list I've seen, but XCOM: Enemy Unknown is definitely my GOTY 2012. also it's really dumb to not do these after the year's over
Where the shitbag is XCOM. That is an example of a quality game.
Best of PC category.
the pc game choices are absolute shit
XCOM and Max Payne 3 need to be up there, those games were amazing. [editline]16th November 2012[/editline]
xcom, noted RTS
Not an RTS, it's turn-based stratagy.
Where the fuck is Tribes? I genuinely mean this, not because "omg trib is awesum!!1!" Tribes is literally the only shooter that's come out this year that isn't all tacticool fps boring boring. "Best Multiplayer" >Borderlands 2 :I
It's not a game though.... It's an interactive story.
Isn't every game with a single player mode an "Interactive story" ?
I kind of liked Mass Effect 3; I'm a big fan of the series. Sure it could have been better, but I liked it.
Spec Ops needs to be in the list
I really don't understand why they put so few titles for the GOTY category. Luckily for me Dishonored is there but they should put a lot more games in it.
Pretty much all the games in the list sucks mayor cocks. XCOM and The walking dead should be the winners right away: XCOM is a good follow up from the original in many ways and The Walking dead got something most of the games right now lacks: a fucking soul and charm.
Spec Ops needs to be in the list
Unfortunately a game usually has to sell well in order to earn a place for GOTY. If I recall correctly, Spec Ops did not have the best sales, despite how good of a game it is.
The only new game I bought this year was Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. This year was packed with a lot of underwhelming games.
