Wait, are they actually full on suing Mojang, or did they just send a letter notifying them that they think it infringes on their copyright and that legal action could follow?
They are filing a lawsuit, and will most likely sue, and 99% chance of failing.
Everyone named Beth now owes Bethesda money
We have an old folk's home and charity shop called Bethesda. Sorry old people, looks like we're going without heating tonight.
Enough horrible trademark jokes. Also, Bethesda won't be getting their hands on my money any time soon after this. Oh well, at least they can't possibly win this.
Except Bethesda's fiscal gross is more than 150x what Notch has made altogether.
Still doesn't mean they cannot get jealous/greedy at their progress. Keep in mind that Notch's games are still relatively new.
Well Skyrim is off my list now!
Go bethesda. Your games are better and not made in java.
Gamebyro.
I rest my case.
Good.
Notch doesn't deserve a cent of the money he has "earned".
He made a gimmick, a mediocre browser based autism simulator, which wasn't even original in the first place. Minecraft was fun for all of 30 minutes. After the initial period of you building a house, there is literally nothing else to do except grind away in darkness so you can build your splendid fortress of autism.
Nowadays Notch just sits around, leeching off the little effort he made a while ago.

What's really funny about this is Notch interviewed Todd Howards a while ago.
Gamebyro.
I rest my case.
And yet you don't realize that Civilization 4 was made on Gamebryo.
At least Betheseda gave a bit of effort and made their own engine instead of using java.

(i don't even like minecraft that much, by the way)
Wow Bethesda really are tryin hard for everyone to hate them aren't they?

iirc theres a hospital in washington called bethesda.

and also, i am pretty sure that bethesda game studios ( devs of skyrim ) have nohting to do with it. It's just bethesdas lawyers being stupid.

I don't get your point. Bethesda ruined their games by using Gamebyro and/or not making it look decent and/or making it stable.
Gamebyro may be awesome, but Bethesda sure did a shit job with it.

This is why I call it "Bethbryo"
Because Bethesda's version of Gamebryo sucks
At least Betheseda gave a bit of effort and made their own engine instead of using java.
Java is not an engine. Notch had to make his own engine out of Java as well.

What do you call Skyrim, then?
Oblivion was astounding when it came out.

By "ruined their games" you mean made literally 2 games on the Gamebryo engine, after which they created their own engine to make up for the bad parts of Gamebryo.
Notch refuses to fix anything in his game, and when a MODDER makes something better then Notch does, he simply incorporates it into the game like it was all his idea.

Oblivion was outstanding for people who had never played an RPG before and do not appreciate good writing or a good realised world in their games. If it was that good it would be outstanding now but it's not.

Creation engine.
They added a couple features and fixed a couple bugs, adding loads of other bugs and called it the creation engine.
I don't think Skyrim will live up to the hype.
Can't wait for it to be released.
I'll reconsider buying the next TES game if Bethesda follows through with this.
I love all the "Thought you were cool Bethesda" posts in this thread.
Bethesda may develop and publish some damn fine games, but suing a little indie developer just because an upcoming game had one common word in common with their game
They are serious assholes.
Wow, one of my favorite Devs suing another of my favorite Devs.
I'm at a loss here...
By "ruined their games" you mean made literally 2 games on the Gamebryo engine, after which they created their own engine to make up for the bad parts of Gamebryo..
You mean 3 games, Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.
and seriously Bethesda is suing everyone, they are suing Interplay for using Fallout trademarks in their Fallout MMO, I mean what the fuck Bethesda, piss off.

3 Games. And each one has been very large in it's significance in the gaming world. It's not like they were minigames. Each of them has it's own cultural jokes about how awful the engine is. it's part of the memory of the games for people.
And by ruined, I mean severely tarnished the overall experience for any player, it's always been the weakest point in those games. I love Oblivion and Fallout to death, they are some of my favourites, but all my criticism is due to the engines, the bugs, the visuals, the performance, etc.
I just lost respect for Bethesda.
I will still buy Skyrim, though.
Just so some people would know.

They made Oblivion, Fallout 3, Morrowind and working on Skyrim.

They mostly deal with legal stuff and are responsible for publishing Rage, Brink, Wet etc.
So yeah, stop the dumb comments on how your not going to get skyrim because of this etc etc.
I do agree that this is a stupid lawsuit though.
