Glenn beck was actually right though. the ad is creating a divide between the republican nuts and the democratic nuts over whether or not a coke ad is american
commercials should be about the product. that had nothing to do with coke [editline]3rd February 2014[/editline] fucking automerge
To be fairly honest at this point coca cola is such a huge thing that they don't really need advertisement on TV to be recognized, so my guess is they are just using the marketing budget for unrelated skits and just slap their name on it to legitimize it as an ad and not have it booted off. There's a lot of Coke ads that have pretty much nothing to do with the actual product and are just there to look good and have a cute message.
People forget that this country was built by immigrants, go look up your family's history and sure enough you will find someone of another nationality.
Yeah but they fucking assimilated, started speaking English, and became Americans historically. These days they're not. I don't care what race you are, if you come here to America, you better not start adhering to Radical Islam, or fucking Nazism or radical conservatism/liberalism/whatever. You're living here because the people who already live here let you live here. You have no fucking right to come here and expect us to start believing your fucked up creed/speak your language/believe in your religion. If you don't like it, gtfo.
Call bullshit on what? The fact that we have a Nazi party in the united states? I'm sorry but they even have a website...
We don't need a Nazi party in the US. They need to be eliminated.
A large population of American Republicans want Inter-racial marriage illegal. Its not really surprising that little stuff like this enrages them.
Source on this?
Oh how wrong you are. People just impulse buy cheap shit and do not look for it. The only things in my house that was not made in USA is the silverware (Taiwan) Drinking glasses (France) Television (Japan) Bookshelf (Canada) Replica Colt .45 Peacemaker (Spain) Replica Volcanic 10 (Spain) Replica Colt Pocket Pistol (Spain) Replica 'Potato Masher' Grenade (Spain) Authentic Chemical Gas Mask (Russia) Authentic German WWII Paratrooper boot knife (Germany) Everything else in my house was made in USA. If I can not find a certian item made in USA I do all research I can to find the best next in line for quality and price. If it's $65 for France glasses but $15 for China glasses, I'm paying for the ones in France. Edit: Looks like I'm dumb for purchasing quality items instead of cheap quantity items.
That's a good one. How about the computer you're using right now? Or your shoes, and clothing. Or about a million other things you forget to mention.
Coke has polar bears as mascots...UGH how un american..They should have Eagles shooting guns to represent all the freedom we have
Even when by principle their beliefs are against the very tolerance we give to them? I call bullshit.
The first amendment permits the existence of such party. Political parties are heavily protected under it as a form of political speech.
That's a good one. How about the computer you're using right now? Or your shoes, and clothing.
Pretty much proves that America is xenophobic to the extreme.
Um no. No, it really doesn't. Many other countries are worse by far, even a few industrialized ones like South Korea.
Yeah but they fucking assimilated, started speaking English, and became Americans historically. These days they're not. This is the kind of mindset I expect these people to have. Not that there is anything wrong with the commercial, or Bob Dylan, I just want to point out the fact that the people who are getting up in arms over the Coke commercial are the kinds of people that prescribe to the idea that America is awesome, and we're the only ones with pride. And we also speak ingrish. Not whatever that whobertyjaberty shit y'all'r speekin' over thur.
That sounds like something a Nazi might say...
"We don't need a Nazi Party in the United States. They need to be eliminated." -A Nazi No, no it doesn't actually. [editline]4 February 2013[/editline] Your excessive tolerance of unjustified beliefs like those which are held by neo-Nazis peddling their intolerance and blind hatred is not admirable, it's fucking stupid because it's precisely what enables them in the first place (and, therefore, besides being fucking stupid, is also quite hilarious at the same time because of how counterproductive it is). I'm definitely giving Facepunch too much credit here though in assuming that most people here will be able to understand how a proper society should work on this kind of a fundamental level. So let me make it simple for you all, as I have before:
Awful people are awful people. Awful beliefs are awful beliefs. If you actively encourage the kinds of awful beliefs we've discussed, then as far as I'm concerned, you're an awful person who has equally awful beliefs, and both you and your beliefs deserve to be treated with unrestricted bigotry and intolerance, because tolerance is not the way to go about combating such savage behavior and ideas. Don't defend awful people, don't defend their awful beliefs.
You don't fight intolerance with tolerance, you fight it with your own unrestricted intolerance of intolerance.
Isn't our Star Spangled Banner a parody of some French Drinking song? Like during The War of 1812 a sailor forced into the British Navy witnessed a ship battle and wrote down the Anthem and just slapped it onto a Drinking Song. Don't quote me on that but am I some where in the lines?
A large population of American Republicans want Inter-racial marriage illegal. Nice commercial. Leave it to the idiots of the country to make an issue out of something well meaning. Then again these are the same people that use the Bible to justify hate crimes, so that would be right down their ally.
That sounds like something a Nazi might say...
My point is that those people don't deserve to have a say if they infringe on the rights of others. [editline]3rd February 2014[/editline]
The first amendment permits the existence of such party. I think this is a beautiful message. America is the melting pot of the world, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I think I speak for most rational Americans when I say this. The loudest voice is not necessarily the majority.
that suppressing diversity divides or that English isn't the US's official language
Saying that english is your de facto official language isn't even close to being a divisive thing that "supresses diversity", don't be ridiculous. Take Brazil for example, one of the most multicultural countries out there. I live in an Italian neighborhood, my best friend is of Polish and German descents and we often hang out at the Japanese-inspired park. We're just as proud of being Brazilian as we are of our ancestors. We celebrate our multiculturalism, but we don't need silly excuses to do so, quit pretending there's an issue where there isn't one.
English isn't our country's official language Pretending otherwise divides us more than celebrating our diversity
You're right, it was almost German.
Saying that english is your de facto official language isn't even close to being a divisive thing that "supresses diversity", don't be ridiculous.
I understand what you're trying to say, but 'de facto official' is a complete oxymoron because 'de facto' essentially requires it to be unofficial. 20% of the US population does not speak English at home, and part of the culture of multiculturalism is appreciating diversity even in the presence of a 'standard'.
That's a good one. How about the computer you're using right now? Or your shoes, and clothing. Or about a million other things you forget to mention.
Computer custom made in USA. All my clothing is made from Amish shops in my state.
Looks like I'm dumb for purchasing quality items instead of cheap quantity items.
No, it's just facepunch being a bunch of babies because owning a gas mask is "edgy" now and making fun of "edgy" people is the new thing people do to try to fit in since calling each other "nerds" doesn't really work here on a video game forum.
