Can't the federal government do something about it if it's unconstitutional?
Texas will just go DON'T TREAD ON ME and secede. So yeah they should do that.
Don't mess with texas.
They're supporting a plan that forcibly indoctrinates their kids with religious right-wing views through public education funded by taxpayers. In the process eliminating knowledge of anyone that didn't agree with them. Yes, they are stupid and ignorant hillbillies. :colbert:
Not everyone agrees with this you know. I sure as hell don't. So go ahead and call me an ignorant hillbilly. Ass.
Really? Wow. Another reason to move out of this shitty state, especially when you have to pay school tax to support bullshit like this even if you aren't in school/have kids in school.
Yeah. And half the time the teachers don't have enough glue/scissors for everyone. :buddy:
Texas will just go DON'T TREAD ON ME and secede. So yeah they should do that.
Secession for Texas would be utterly stupid and interesting at the same time.
Solution, Remove the government from the selection of school curriculum.
yeah and then who will select school standards?
Not everyone agrees with this you know. I sure as hell don't. So go ahead and call me an ignorant hillbilly. Ass.
Funny, I don't see swarms of people protesting in Texas over it, but they seem to have no shortage of people turning out for the Tea Party idiocy.
Solution, Remove the government from the selection of school curriculum.
it's not government. It's history books.
Yes, they are stupid and ignorant hillbillies. :colbert:
Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US. :colbert: EVERY state/ city has an idiot somewhere, that makes people think everyone in the state/ city is an idiot. You're the idiot of your city. Gongrats.

thank god schools are too poor to buy these books until twenty years from now
What are the new standards...
1 minute later:
Umm, this is actually a very good law.
too bad everyone who went for this legislation spent about as much time as you did informing themselves.
Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US. :colbert: EVERY state/ city has an idiot somewhere, that makes people think everyone in the state/ city is an idiot. You're the idiot of your city. Gongrats.
Texas just has their village idiots running the school boards. Makes creating a new generation of idiots much easier.
it's not government. It's history books.
Which are being written by.... The government of Texas, at least its school board arm. Remove the government from the selection of educational material. Voila you have solved the problem, schools that want to teach the truth will, the ones that want to indoctrinate kids with religion will as well, that is if their parents send them there.
Not our fault Texas has the biggest concentration of idiots in the country.
More people more idiots, also I disagree California has the biggest idiots in the country. But me being a fellow texan myself disagrees with this.

And then what could we do, we'd have to drive two hours to find a good school likely.
Not every city or state puts those idiots in command of the brainwashing of their children. :colbert:
Our country is run by idiots. :I This isn't the only stupid thing to happen in the government, in the US you know.
Is there anything the federal government can do? I seriously feel sorry for you guys.
Our country is run by idiots. :I This isn't the only stupid thing to happen in the government, in the US you know.
uh, so that justifies this?
I think the federal government should have a bit more leeway in education. It doesn't seem very fair that states are allowed to do this sort of shit.
This isn't just Texas, half the fucking country will be forcibly indoctrinated with this right wing bullshit. Fuck Texas. Stupid, ignorant hillbillies.
Hey Used, long time. no see! :buddy:
That is just disgraceful to be perfectly honest.
What are the new standards...
Troll detected of the 10 o'clock Bow. Arm and load torpedoes, ready to fire...
That sucks. I wouldn't even care if it was just Texas. If they want to elect conservative school board officials, so be it. It's just absurd that the economics of the situation makes Texas the arbiter of American education. That one state should not have that much power over the entire country. As the Used Car Salesman said, it's tragic people will go on Tea Party tirades but turn their noses away from this disgrace. Or even applaud it. Glad I'm in college. [editline]01:50AM[/editline] @Zeke: I'm all for the federal government stamping down on "states' rights" once again, but I don't think it will happen. Nobody I know in my state seems to know or even care about this.
Good thing I'm graduating in a year. Oh wait, I'm going to one of the best public high schools in Texas, as well as in the nation... you guys shouldn't generalize so damn much, not all of Texas is stupid. You should see Austin.
you guys shouldn't generalize so damn much, not all of Texas is stupid. You should see Austin.
Some of the generalizations as to the actual citizens are overkill, but to call your state out for doing this is totally appropriate. As is, the general state of Texas looks like a damn joke. It's not very funny though because the joke's on all of us.
This isn't just Texas, half the fucking country will be forcibly indoctrinated with this right wing bullshit. Fuck Texas. Stupid, ignorant hillbillies.
Nobody is being forced, but Texas buys so many schoolbooks, most companies print to comply with their standards, so other states then buy those same books. Hopefully every other state realises the bullshit Texas is doing and buys their own books. [editline]02:07AM[/editline]
More people more idiots, also I disagree California has the biggest idiots in the country. But me being a fellow texan myself disagrees with this.
California mentioned banning Texas Schoolbooks. California has the right idea.
