No it's not. Russia wants Crimea because Russia wants all of Ukraine. This is just the first step
You're basically becoming Chechnya 2.0.
Between the source and this facepunch thread;
how did

the 80,000 figure is legit
ah right, that article gives two numbers.
Then they'd have an instant war on two fronts, with Americans on the East and the rest of NATO on the West
join us as our 53rd state*.
51st UK*, 52nd Puerto Rico*.
* statehood pending

Ukraine could make at least 10 states, so that you'll have an even number again

Holy fuck, Yuri. It's a rifle, not a guitar. Get your fingers out of the trigger guard.
This is like a reverse of the cold war. They want to get back to the USSR ?
Ukraine could make at least 10 states, so that you'll have an even number again
yeah but then russia will have to keep the peace in our new states to protect the ethnic ukrainians from the illegitimate revolutionary american government
This thing has caused quite a stir in Finland and the question about joining NATO has been thrown around alot.
There have been reports of anti finland propaganda on russian tv networks.

Haven't heard about any new Finnish punching bags in the Russian media, though.

RT is constantly pushing anti-Estonian and Baltic shit. I don't think they've done much Finland bashing recently.
Although there's nothing NATO can do this time, being in NATO does give the world an obligation to respond if you are invaded, which is too useful to pass up really.

Anti Finland propaganda?
Anyone got a source on that?
If Russia and China combined they'd put up a fair fight, through sheer number alone instead of a tech advantage.
I hate talking about stuff like this anyway, because it'll (thankfully) never happen.
Russia and China aren't allies any more.

finnish source.
Anti Finland propaganda?
Anyone got a source on that?
That nutty pastor Juha Molari is a regularish contributor to their opinion article section, ranting about our tolerance of gays, and claiming we support Chechen terrorists or such like. Almost every article of his attacks Finland in some way. All I can say is, thank God the Russians have him in their country, they can damn well keep him.
I'm currently trying to find some of the news articles they wrote about us, but it's a bit slow (72 pages of articles containing Finland)
doesn't RT shit on everyone who isn't russia?
doesn't RT shit on everyone who isn't russia?
Not unless the Kremlin wants them to, no.

Part of being in NATO means that member nations are protected militarily by the alliance. The world won't respond, NATO will.

Hardly a reason to join NATO for, so we probably wont.
Hardly a reason to join NATO for, so we probably wont.
Yeh, nothing in the Russian media regarding Finland so far even remotely tinges of preparing to get rough with us, so nothing to worry about really.
EDIT: All i've found so far on RT specifically that's remotely recent is the usual best-of lists for various statistics, which we inevitably crop up in, sports, and various neutral miscellanea. The more interesting stuff you can find yourself by searching for Finland on their site, but it's all fairly old. Can't say the same for the rest of the Russian media, namely because I can't speak Russian and Google Translate just translates it into gibberish.
Come on, these are not Russia. Obviously just 80 000 of unmarked mercenaries wearing russian uniforms. I heard it on TV

I can't even think of one reason why Russia would even consider invading Finland.
Like AFAIK we have like, trees. It'd be super un-economical to even poke Finland.
Misleading title based on single quote from colonel and misleading signature under first photo, come on. MAJORITY? of people? Read damn articles one more time. This is what i hate in information wars, all about headlines and signatures and ain't anybody double checking source material.

Only conceivable scenario I can think of where they'd invade us is if there were serious considerations about joining NATO, and even then they'd realise that invading us would almost guarantee we'd join NATO.
If I were Putin I'd do the same thing. Imagine having your name in history books for ever. It doesn't matter if it was a bad thing or not. And who knows. Maybe he'll do a really good job in Ukraine?
Remember all those shitty warlords throughout history that everyone remembers?
Wait...

I wonder if another Belaya Smert would ever pop up to give Russian soldiers nightmares in the event of them invading Finland.
I wonder if another Belaya Smert would ever pop up to give Russian soldiers nightmares in the event of them invading Finland.
Probably not. We don't have nearly as many people living rurally as we did in the 40s (so less people who'd be regularly using rifles for e.g. hunting and so on), and the Russian Army today is far better than the badly-equipped sloth that got gutted by the Great Purge in '39. If they came up against another Simo nowadays, they'd just annihilate the square kilometre he inhabits with Grads, Smerchs and whatever other artillery they can bring to bear. Then there's attack helicopters with infrared cameras and other technology like that.

Yeah, that much is true, artillery is becoming more common than it once was and can seriously ruin your day if brought to bear against you. That said, though, if somebody were lucky enough, they'd still survive for long. But then again, which war wasn't about luck anyway?
Nobody in NATO and MAINLY not America are going to do anything about it, period. Did you guys forget South Ossetia War? It was the almost exact same situation. Post Soviet nation having a strongly separatist area, Russia SWOOPING THE FUCK IN, and liberating them. Let me remind you that was an actual armed conflict where people died, and STILL nobody gave a shit past some lame barking. This time Russia won't have to shoot anybody. There's going to be a referendum, things are going to cool down, Ukraine will shrink a bit and Crimea will either become a puppet country or a part of Russia. Everyone outside of Crimea and Ukraine will forget it happened within a couple of years.
