Alzheimer's not genetic? Where did you get this ridiculous statement from. And mental disorders, memory-impairments and learning-disorders span a wide gamut so please, read up on these conditions.
It was sarcasm. Jesus.
Because the Hypocampus develops over age? I don't even understand the question, and by the way you ask it, neither do you.
No, I know what I'm talking about, but it's obvious to me you didn't read the article. Let me explain. The Hypocampus has a spatial map consisting of neurons which map out an area using a hexagonal grid. Each cell is represented by one neuron. When it fires, you're in or near the cell. Additionally, some areas are marked by what's called "place neurons", where real locations such as a hallway in your house, or a section of Times Square are represented, and fire where you get near them. I was asking you if that section of the brain is completely organized and exactly the same across all individuals, how would it be learned every single time to do the same thing? It's genetic. I even gave you the article... or more specifically, one of the many articles. If spacial interpretation, and among other things including that section of the brain where you learn language are highly organized and formed genetically, how would you say that maybe a mutation for that area of the brain a few hundred thousand years ago perhaps made eastern languages easier to understand if you're Asian? In fact, maybe it developed said languages? And who is to say that people don't interpret faces like that? Why can you scare a small child with simply an angry face? Or a newborn? Maybe it explains why Chinese... is incredibly hard to understand? People in the Andes, evolved for thousands of years to have larger lung capacities to deal with the reduced oxygen. People in hotter climates evolved darker skin to avoid skin damage... or more accurately, white people evolved from those people to have lighter skin to deal with the colder climate? Maybe that's why Inuits are so pale? Who's to say that these things such as interpretation might not be influenced? Or maybe I'm way above your level of understanding, beyond the simple "everyone is the same", despite there being genetic disorders, mental disorders, and shit. Better yet, considering we're mammals, why do animals have instincts in the first place, if it wasn't hard-coded? I'm not saying "oh yeah im better than asanz causz i can reed facez bettar", I'm saying that people can be different, see things differently, and act differently, based on their genetics. It's obvious to me that it shouldn't matter as much, seeing as our brains are well enough equipped to work around anything or believe anything no matter if your blue, black, white, red all over, but still.
Because there's no scientific proof of it? And I never said genes don't influence behavior. I said genes that involve race don't influence behavior, that's a big thing difference.
And why is it far fetched that people of a certain race may have dispositions? They found a gene that could cause empathy in mice... or more specifically, empathy is merely the ability of a brain to emulate another brain using "mirror neurons". Perhaps the gene triggers a growth of it? Perhaps removing the gene causes someone to be unable to understand other people, causing psychopathic tendencies?
I'm not being politically correct, I'm being logically and scientifically correct. You give me outstanding proof that understand expressions is genetic (aside from your obviously flawed "what I know about psychology and neurology") and then maybe I'll be inclined to believe anything you say.
I didn't give you proof that understanding expressions is genetic, but interpreting data is.
However, attacking my position on the subject won't get you anywhere.
Call it boredom.

Western languages place no importance on phonetics, so that's why it's very difficult to understand. There's a theory that Asians understand musical theory better because of how they are raised for phonetic understanding. Yeah right. More like someone is defensive about what they perceive to be a racist due to his minority status, and has his own head stuck up so far up his ass that he can't even understand how something that he hasn't a clue on, hasn't done the research on, despite there being evidence right in his face, touts the contrary. Yet instead he resorts to trying to discredit the person who brings up the slightly radical idea, without any knowledge of how said person came to learn or theorize this, not on any basis, but relying on his own ignorant, pathetic judgment. Seriously, the only fucking Wikipedia article I used was the damned one on the first post. I know more then enough from my psychology courses. Get a clue.
If they come out with research that says that Africans are genetically inclined to be violent, then yeah, even if it was true, it would be immensely politically incorrect, not to mention if the study had come out of somewhere like South Africa. That could be why African countries are so corrupt. [editline]03:22PM[/editline] Asians have the least on average.

You are trying to invalidate my argument on the basis that you are white and therefore unbiased and I am mexican and therefore wrong on every level. That IS racist, token racial girlfriend or not. If you are so worried about derailing a thread maybe you should have fucking thought of that before you attack me on a purely racial level, as though it has FUCK ALL to do with the discussion. You say "for being defensive and ignorant" but the only justification for that claim that you have given is by calling me a minority. That as well is really really fucking racist.
It says cultures not races, so I don't see how this can suggest anything to do with genetic differences. If they tested people bought up in purely Western culture but who were of another race, and found differences then it would; but as the study stands to say anything of it suggesting genetic differences is scientifically unsound. Basically correlation does not imply causation, it's like the FACT that in the US black people are more likely to commit murder than white people, but this does not mean that it is BECAUSE they are of a black race, instead it's probably a cultural thing, or because of where most of them happen to live etc.

No actually it's genetic that Black people are more athletic and can fight better and are more aggressive because on average they have more testosterone. I'm not saying all of them are like this, but a lot are. I know only one non athletic black person. Culture is influenced by genetics. There wouldn't be stereotypes in the first place if all races were equal.

But the brain does have hard-coded ways of interpreting things. Even so, it wouldn't change anything. We're all human, and it's obvious that everyone's brain is really similar, if not exactly the same. I was trying to say earlier that there might be a possibility of slight differences that may account for the cultural things.
I'm not saying Black people are dumber, I'm just saying they make dumber choices because of their increased testosterone. Think about it this way; Asian families are more structured and their children are more inclined to follow their parents directions because of their lower testosterone. Asian children on average reach puberty later. That could be why they develop attitudes much later on average. Keyword: On average. Teenagers are rebellious, but for some reason asian children do not rebel or engage in sex underaged. [editline]10:37PM[/editline] Race is not social. IT IS biological. Certain racial groups share different characteristics both mental and physical. [editline]10:37PM[/editline] Don't call me racist either. It's a fact. That's going way, way too far. It's only the interpretation of data, and hard-coded sections of the brain that are influenced by genetics. What you're talking about is complex behavior. That is taught, not hard-coded.
Well then why do different racial groups have different cultures? [editline]10:48PM[/editline] It's also due to nutritional factors. Blacks and hispanics tend to have more heavy metals and worse nutrition than whites and asians. What do a lot of Blacks eat? Fried food which interferes with proper brain development. They aren't getting enough Omega 3s. Asians eat a lot of soy which is very good for brain development. A lot of it starts in the womb.

It's very ignorant to say racial differences are purely attributed to culture. [editline]11:01PM[/editline] Basically what I'm trying to say is Racial differences are both caused by culture and genetics.
I agree with Intel Inside. Though He's talking about all kinds of things i will never understand, you shouldn't be so closed minded to other peoplles ideas and theories
