makeshift bridge over the River Kwai in Thailand.
It was over the river kok
As specified before, the bridge had a slope. And even if his remarks were racist, it's Jeremy Clarkson. Why is this even news?
how the fuck is nigger NOT a "bad word" by itself?
the word was literally invented to be derogatory.
Or to refer to people who came from the geographical location of Nigeria where the slave trade was located.
Oh by the way if you're a US or Australian FP poster who's about to respond to this with "Uh I'm from Chicago/Sydney and I've never heard that???" please don't bother
but i never have
I've literally never heard anyone say slope, someone saying chink is far more common than 'slope'

Or, you know, a corruption of the word negro?
Oh it's just the Mail again.
Move along people, nothing to see here.
I'm sure Clarkson cares immensely.
He is obviously refering to the bridge people. Not the man walking on it!
Thanks DM, i didn't know more episodes were out
They make fun of the French, the Americans and the British (themselves) every episode and nobody cares.
This is seriously the first time I've heard the use of slope to mean an Asian
Daily Mail need to get off their high horse, he clearly wasn't referring to the guy on the bridge
"There's a slope on it"
I found that fucking hilarious
Intentional or otherwise
It's good to see a bunch of privileged white people on Twitter getting upset on behalf of the Thai.

I always thought Nigger was an evolution of Negro, made by the british, since I would imagine some of them would have trouble pronouncing negro.
It makes sense if we look at it from a historical standpoint, the portuguese and the spanish were the first to get involved in the slave trade, and both the languages are of romanic descent, it would make sense that the spanish and portuguese traders would have no problem pronouncing negro, and that they would have a monopoly on the slave trade, while the english, whose language is of a west germanic descent, would have trouble pronouncing the word, take this replica of an ad in the 1760's as an example, and, how it uses the word "Negroes", the correct plural for the word Negro would be Negros, but the sign would suggest that the british colonists, have made some changes to the word to make it easier to pronounce.
Much in the same way I belive the word Nigger became popular among the colonists because, it was much easier to pronounce.
NEWS JUST IN!
JEREMY CLARKSON SAYS SCANDALOUS THINGS!
Whats new?
i watched the episode, and, the way it was cut, it really did seem like a joke moment, with an implied pun.
but i could be trippin i guess
He better be careful, it's a slippery sl-
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has found himself at the centre of an alleged racism row following a comment he made during the final show of the series.
Wait, Top Gear is ending?
:(
Slope, slopehead, slopy, slopey, sloper
(US and Aus) a person of Asian (in Australia, especially Vietnamese; in America, especially Chinese) descent.

I never picked up on any joke like that. The only thing I thought it did was develop a sense of tension with the upcoming crossing.
