Brother and sister arrested for sex in church parking lot after watching The Notebook

I find that shit disturbing, but it's damn stupid that they got arrested over this.
To prevent inbreeding and potentially bring in children with extreme amounts of deformities or disorders that otherwise wouldn't have occurred. Interesting fact about incest laws: The farther towards the South-East you go in the United States, the heavier the penalty is. Georgia and the states right around it - except Florida - can give you up to life in prison for committing incest.
Edit: Pretty sure the sodomy laws that are still in place are just left over from a lot of religious based laws. I could be wrong about that. It certainly isn't the healthiest or cleanest place to put your dick, but nowadays we can generally fix a lot of problems that come from it.
By that logic, people with severe mental or physical disabilities should not be allowed to procreate because it will likely result in children with the same problems.
Hell let's ban people with certain genetic traits from procreating because we care so much about the well-being of their children.
why
who fucking cares
incest is already taboo, making it a crime also is obviously not stopping some of these freaks
let them fuck, who gives a shit? They'll be pariahs from both sides of their family if anyone finds out, that's punishment enough. There are bigger criminals to catch than someone that wanted to plow their sibling.
Because then it's everyone else who has to deal with the inbred children that carry diseases and genetic disorders.

They won't necessarily have children though. Contraception exists.
4. If we're going by that logic, then we shouldn't let people have sex if they have known genetic problems too.
Sadly there are plenty of people I've debated who think this is totally okay.

Too bad. Eugenics is illegal.
Technically, outlawing incest is a form of eugenics.
Also, while I still think incest is fucked up, would you people quit with the whole "incest is a breeding ground for genetic disease and disorder" fearmongering shit?
Incest in and of itself does NOT breed genetic disorders. In two healthy human beings, a genetic disorder is not going to just fucking pop up out of nowhere because "lol incest".
Incest makes the genetic pool SMALLER, and if that genetic pool happens to already include genetic disorders then yes, those disorders may become more common. But, again, it's not guaranteed. If two people with recessive genes for a disorder have a baby, it's still going to be recessive in the baby. It requires a dominant gene to activate a disorder.
Please, fucking learn something about biology before you spout nonsense.
I had a dream about having incest last night. It was pretty awkward to be honest. I don't know how anyone could go through with it without things being permanently weird.
It's fucking disgusting, and isn't very intelligent, but fuck they have every right to have sex if they are of age and consenting.

This is funny, since you are clearly ignorant of basic genetic biology.
For a recessive genetic disorder to become active a person must inherit 2 copies of the defective gene.
There is a 1:2 chance that any recessive genes carried by the parent will be inherited by their child. 2 children of that parent have a 1:4 chance of both inheriting that recessive gene. So if 2 people who share a parent have a child of their own there is a 1:8 chance that this child has 2 copies of the recessive gene, in which case they will suffer from this genetic condition.
Typically any given person will carry multiple recessive genetic disorders without ever knowing, and since there are so many different recessive genetic disorder the odds of an unrelated person having the same disorders are quite low (still happens occasionally).
What incest does is massively increase the risk of both parents of a child carrying the same disorder. Only takes one shared parent having 4 recessive disorders (a quite typical number) and there is a 1:2 chance that any incestuous offspring will suffer from a genetic disorder. If both original parents are shared that is a 1:1 chance.
Parent child incest is even worse because 50% of genetic code will be shared, not just 25%.

This is what I was taught as well when it comes go genetics.
i.e
Two brown-eyed parents can have a blue eyed child, if they both had a recessive blue eyed gene.
The pair have been charged with incest, aggravated sodomy and prowling and are being held in the Effingham County jail.
People who are severely handicapped and can't look after themselves shouldn't have kids but that's my opinion.
Yeah, I've had some conversations about this too. I really don't understand why 2 consenting adults who love each other can't legally have sex because it's taboo. I'm an only child so maybe I don't quite understand the stigma that some people with siblings experience. I just don't find it gross personally, and I don't think it should be illegal because it's taboo.
It's fucking weird, I don't see how you can think it's not. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but it's incest. You wouldn't fuck your mom (or dad) would you?
is there a video of this?
how romantic....

Things shouldn't be illegal just because people think it's weird.
Things shouldn't be illegal just because people think it's weird.
It's not. It poses risks great risks for any offspring that may come from it, I believe that's why it's illegal. The odds are against any child born from an act of incest, it's just not fair for the kids.
I think it should remain illegal, it can cause some pretty fucked up diseases and for what, so you can bang your sister/mother/father/etc. which is immoral to pretty much everyone anyways. I'm not forcing views on anyone, do what you want I will not stop you, but that goes against the laws of nature and has no positive outcomes whatsoever.

And people with genetic diseases pose great risk for passing on said genetic disease. Should someone refrain from having kids because they have Huntingtons? I could claim its immoral for someone to knowingly do so. Incest doesn't instantly cause defects, they increase the chance for them. Also one generation of incest isn't going to be that dangerous. Repeated generations though will increase the chances though but is incredibly unlikely in todays society.

No I probably wouldn't, but I wouldn't fuck a lot of people.

I think someone with Huntington's probably does have a moral responsibility to not intentionally have children, knowing what it could do to their children.

Two recessives making the genetic disorder active is not how it works when it comes to disease. Having two recessive genes of a disorder simply makes you a carrier of it 100% guaranteed to pass it on to your offspring. It requires a dominant version of that same gene to 'activate' the disorder.
It's the exact same as the basic square of Bb / bB / BB / bb where Bb, bB, or BB all give brown eyes and bb gives blue. If both a child's genes for a genetic disorder are recessive, it doesn't manifest. Just like how a child with two recessive genes for blue eyes has blue eyes, and will not ever pass on the ability to have brown eyes since they only have two recessive blue eye genes to give.

You are misunderstanding genetics again.
Recessive genetic disorders work in exactly the the same way as the recessive genes for blue eyes. 2 copies of the recessive gene means you have the associated condition. Cystic Fibrosis, Canavan disease, Congenital Neutropenia, Fanconi anemia, Guacher disease, Mucopolysaccharidosis, and Phenylketonuria, just a few examples among hundreds of genetic conditions you can only get by having 2 copies of the same recessive gene. Most people will carry a few recessive genetic conditions without ever knowing if they only have 1 gene for it, but the odds of someone unrelated carrying the exact same condition are low. Which is why incest is so bad, it hugely increases the risk of both parents been carriers of the same recessive genetic disorder.
There are also dominant genetic disorders, these will manifest in people who carry only 1 gene for the disorder (Huntington's Disease for example), and co-dominant genetic disorders where carrying 1 gene gives you 1 version of a condition, and 2 genes gives you a different version of that condition (such as Sickle Cell Anemia, where 1 gene means your blood is poor at carrying oxygen but you are almost immune to malaria, and 2 genes mean you will die young). Before modern times the likelihood of someone with a serious genetic condition being able to have children would have been low, but with modern medical care it has become possible, so all we can really do is strongly advise them not to have a child who has a 50-100% chance of sharing their problems.

angry sex! its a crime so don't do it kids
angry sex! its a crime so don't do it kids
Brings a whole new meaning to the term "Never go to bed angry".
I wonder what causes the Westermarck effect not to manifest in these kinds of cases? I guess it would be possible if the two grew up separated from each other, but it's interesting to observe.
aggravated sodomy
brb googling a picture of one person butt-sexing another person with an aggravated look on their face, hopefully with the caption "GOD DAMMIT THERE'S POO ALL OVER MY DICK"
i don't know why i find that so funny :v:
dumb ratings here i come!
(yes, I know that aggravated sodomy could be a prisoner raping another prisoner, however this story does not involve rape and is just plain fucking hilarious as it is)
