• Man pulled through gap the size of a CD case in factory accident

This sounds like something out of a horror movie
Good god, how the fuck is he not dead
Misleading fucking title. The gap is the size of a CD case, standing up. The wording is supposed to make you think he was completely flattened or something, with the gap being the size of a CD case laying down.
dragged through a five inch gap in a machine
It's the same thing as saying, "Man gets head stuck in machine the size of a piece of paper", when they mean an 8.5x11 inch opening. It's still insane though that he survived.
I'm putting a CD on my head and thinking how the fuck.
It says his head didn't go through.
his right arm and several ribs when he all bar his head was dragged through the five inch gap.
I'm assuming that's suppose to say "all but his head." When you think about it, this is technically survivable. You don't need your legs, pelvis, and hell, even some organs to live. Legs and pelvis would be unrecognizable, and his organs (like his bowels and stomach) may rupture like it said, but other than that, as long as the head and spine are mostly intact (and vital organs repairable) he should survive. What is amazing is that he didn't die from loss of blood or pure shock.

ugh thinking about the pain he must have went through makes me a little nauseous

HOW

Hot or not, it was probably something like this that pulls similar beams through it. Probably got his leg stuck in it somehow.
I want to see pictures of the guy and the slot he was pulled through... Well now that I have an Idea of the slot :v:

Nightmares a-coming
I'm unsure as to how they would respond to accidents like this.
Same way you'd treat any possible spine injury, keep the victim perfectly still
someone in my town fell in to one of those, he was burned to a crisp
Well, I was just using that as an example of the hole size. There was no mention of serious burns in the OP so I'm guessing it wasn't like that. Those factories are automated all over and have similar sized holes pulling the rods throughout the factory while they're cooling or being transported to wherever location in the factory.

The machinery would be different.
What was the "factory" anyway, a steel mill or some kind of fabrication shop? The machinery would be different.
A steel processing plant that makes machinery. Their website: http://www.kaltenbach.com/index.php?article_id=43&clang=0 Video giving you a good idea of what the factory is like: http://www.kaltenbach.com/index.php?article_id=570&clang=0 So it wasn't a hot rod like in the picture I posted most likely. I can't find any pictures of the Compass Engineering building but I'm assuming it was something similar to the Kaltenbach one.
I just tried lying on my back with a ruler next to me and my stomach was already 7 inches off the ground. I'm also 5'6" and pretty skinny. He's sure lucky to be alive, but with those injuries the poor guy's gonna feel like an old man long before he gets there.
saw 8
I don't get the article or I'm just not reading it right. How did his skull make it through in one piece?
Video giving you a good idea of what the factory is like: http://www.kaltenbach.com/index.php?article_id=570&clang=0
Hell, that's an entirely different level of automation than what I was thinking. Could have been pretty much anything he got pulled into.
I don't get the article or I'm just not reading it right. How did his skull make it through in one piece?
Skull didn't go through. Stopped short of his head.
Skull didn't go through. Stopped short of his head.
that sounds terrifying

This was even better to read and imagine if you're claustrophobic
Wow I can't think of a normal reply, just wow.
