Don't need to hit them all. Just the good ones, and enough to demotivate people from searching. How many times could you look at an error page saying "LOL WE FILTER U :australia:" until you just give up
A goddamn infinite amount. When I want something I either bring it to me or go get it, no comprimising, no giving up.
Switching to Internode once my contract ends
I'm with Internode on a fibre line. 100Mbps (in theory, but because a lot of people in my street decided to get connected to it too it's more like 10-20Mbps at any given time).
The list the ACMA uses (that was leaked a while back) had a shitload of non child-abuse websites listed. For example, redtube. This isn't gonna be surgical, they'll just block anything that a soccer mom could be offended by. Just watch
When this happens I'll be checking every porn site I know, just to be sure.
Well, I'm off to order a VPN from Sweden.
Shit, I'd be happy with 10-20Mbps
I'm in the top 97%.
I'd be happy if I got over 1.4.
Aussies if you all disappear, I'm sorry. This is the communism of the Internet. Pretty soon you're going to have to specify why you're visiting a site before you go there.

Would a proxy do anything to fix this? [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] God damn if Comcast does this I'm going to write a strongly worded letter.
This is what I'm worried about. I'm absolutely okay with censoring illegal websites, but when they take it this far, it's upsetting. Don't take my porn away from me. :saddowns:
I feel bad for people with this kind of idiotic ISP. Mine is pretty shit but at least they don't block out everything, and even if they do, they're completely impervious to proxies... Good thing i have almost 80 GB of porn saved on my computer for prolonged internet-less periods v:v:v
I was concerned that it was just any website that made them mad, but thankfully after reading it's just child abuse websites. Though I am worried as to how and when the censoring will spiral out of control.
I hope paheal doesn't get blocked now :(
What about gun laws?
Oh wow an Australian DEFENDING America Unless you're saying the gun laws are bad but surely not because that would be stupid
I hope paheal doesn't get blocked now :(
What would be the difference?
V
Would a proxy do anything to fix this? [editline]23rd June 2011[/editline] God damn if Comcast does this I'm going to write a strongly worded letter.
Buy a VPN. It would be better
Only in Australia...
I actually went down to telstra today and they said "No, we would'nt do anything like that!" :colbert:
proxies to get into facepunch, or tor, much better, but then Garry will ban Australian users for using them, thinking they are avoiding bans. :p
Aussies if you all disappear, I'm sorry. This is the communism of the Internet. I've said it a year ago, and I'll say it again (with some alterations): I don't know what you are all talking about, I for one look forward to our glorious leader's domination of Australia. What is it about having a government deciding that we're not allowed to make our own choices that you all hate so much?
id be happy if i got 600kb/s fucking perth
id be happy if i got 600kb/s fucking perth
Don't worry, an official will come over to take all electronic devices from your house soon anyway, and with the way this country is going, I'm glad about that.
Switching to Internode once my contract ends
I'm with Internode and I love it! Except the support
Don't you fucking dare fuck me over, Internode.
Internode and iiNet are never going to censor they said. Why I love Internode so much <3 [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
I'm with Internode and I love it! Except the support
What do you mean "except the support"? You obviously haven't delt with Telstra or TPG...
Australia. A first world country with third world internet.
Why are internet providers always run/forced to do things by assholes?
Damn that really sucks for you guys. I have no problem with ISPs blocking illegal websites (They're illegal), but blocking material that is seen as immoral as such is going too far. Way too far. That's how I understood it, anyway. All luck to you aussies.
The one time to be with this ISP :arghfist::saddowns: Edit: I wish they would give a list of the god damn sites being blocked.
Australia. A first world country with third world internet.
Actually down here, third world internet speeds are an optimist's pipe dream.
