No it's about the same. I'd say house arrest with monitored communications is probably the best option.
That's not an option. She willingly and knowingly committed several crimes, which the maximum penalty would be 136 years in prison. She is no different than any other criminal, and can serve the 35 years she has been sentenced to, which is a hell of a good deal. Her options are gen pop and solitary. Choose one.
Is this ironic? Because you know that Bradley deserves that 35 year sentence for fucking up how he whistleblow'd, unlike Snowden
You can shit on her actions for all I care but the moment you start calling her a him and using her old name is the moment it becomes intentional, spiteful discrimination against an entire group of people.
So we're in agreement that her situation is unfair?
No, her situation is perfectly fair. She knowingly committed several crimes and is serving her time as she should.
No, her situation is perfectly fair. She knowingly committed several crimes and is serving her time as she should.
But surely she shouldn't be exacted to torture, which are as you said her only options.
But surely she shouldn't be exacted to torture, which are as you said her only options.
You are making no sense right now.
But surely she shouldn't be exacted to torture, which are as you said her only options.
The solitary isn't done to cause Manning any pain or suffering. It's literally done to keep 24 hour watch on her, they aren't wanting her to try an another attempt and be successful. Least if she does it again they can render immediate medical care.
solitary confinement for 35 years is arguably torture, regardless of the room's accommodations. [editline]11th January 2017[/editline] For some people, particularly people that suffer from some form of severe depression or post-trauma (like trans people!), a few weeks in solitary confinement can have very apparent and serious detrimental effects to someone's mental health.
A few weeks is enough to start making you question your sanity, the human brain isn't meant to be deprived of social interaction and things that keep us engaged. It doesn't matter if a you got your self a toilet, sink and a nice bed. Hell even some of the studies of isolation NASA has done still has people breaking under lesser conditions when they're confined with others.
Again you're assuming Manning is locked in solitary for 35 years, despite it being a determined time before they actually let her back out in the general population.
thats not really the point i was making. spending 35 years in prison for this is unnecessary.
And leaving her in gen pop to attempt suicide until she succeeds is the better option?
How about things that actually help the mentally ill [editline]11th January 2017[/editline]
Report and move on????
I don't know that transphobia is always a bannable offense like racism or homophobia are, people only seem to get banned for it sometimes usually the transphobes end up getting banned for shitposting anyway though :v:

Despite the name the Chaplains are trained to death with much more than ones own religion. Yes that does include emotional and mental health and includes training on how to handle peoples who have become transgender. Also they talk about suicide prevention, a lot in the military and they urge you to talk to someone or go to the chaplain. Chaplains also have confidentiality agreement to which they do not have to report such thanks to anyone in the chain of command. Clearly there are attempts to help anyone imprisoned cope with their situation. But yeah lets deny it without actually knowing.
