Scientology is pain
The biggest mistake was making them tax exempt for being a "religion". If they didn't, Scientology would have been bankrupt to hell and back from all the fines slapped on them for owning a massive, empty building.
The only reason that happened though is because Scientology "declared war" on the IRS by throwing mountains of bullshit paperwork at them that they couldn't ignore and pretty much overflowed them with so much work that they couldn't operate normally. They were forced into declaring them a religion.
These cunts must be stopped, blackmailing people who don't agree or like their glorified scam is against the law, not only that, they trick people into telling them their deepest secrets then hold them hostage using their secrets against them.
yeah, I really don't get why people laugh off the damage Scientology can do to people "because lol they believe in alien volcanic butt-ghosts u can only kill with money lmao". we don't roll about laughing about how dumb virgin births, talking snakes and flying horses are when members of other religions deicide to start fucking things up.

Scientology has just as much claim to legitimacy as a southern baptist church does. No organization should get any special exemptions because they like to label themselves as a religion. That's the real problem, not that Scientology did it.

They went in with an armful of documents. Nobody knows what was said during that meeting, but when it was over, the litigation was over and the IRS was giving Scientology tax breaks and exemptions legitimate religions don't even get, in addition to standard religious exemptions. The speculation is that they had some major blackmail handy.
I kinda wish people would take scientology more seriously. A lot of people seem to think it's just some silly little cult but they actually have a frightening amount of influence and have an actual policy to attack anyone who criticizes them.
Even with all that influence and whatnot, it doesn't make them any less bullshit.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have moles in the IRS and DOJ again.
Ah shit. Everytime I read Scientology the images of that guy who was burnt to death with boiling water and that woman left to die by starvation come to mind. Why the fuck are these people still operating? Jesus.
I'd love to see the day when that big, pompous concentration camp hotel of theirs in the middle of Los Angeles gets an LAV full of federal officers rammed through its front doors.
Ah shit, they disembarked here in Argentina.... Great
I don't know how people like the "X is watching over me" thing. It's like trusting yourself to fate, some "Jesus take the wheel!" stuff. As if people just went "oh I'll be ok/I was ok because X is watching over me". I don't know, that sentiment seems extremely bad to me. I have no idea how people like to think that way, but thats just my opinion. My advice is always "dont think about it too much"
As someone who used to be totally and unabashedly anti-spiritual, I can tell you that when you're religious, it's much different than how you think it is when you're an atheist.
unless they're running as a confirmed non profit donation organization, how does not taxing them NOT break the separation of church and government/state?
It is a form of subsidy.

What bad things could you even say about Louis Theroux He's wonderful
What bad things could you even say about Louis Theroux He's wonderful
Well made up stuff, family history, just anything to drag him through the mud regardless of whether any of it is even true. They aren't above ruining people's lives for the smallest of things.
Who hasn't learned that all religions are?
Who hasn't learned they're not? There's no way to prove that there's no higher power and there's no way to prove their isn't. I subscribe to a paganistic belief but I accept I may be wrong, so I'm still more scientifically minded than you, because you're making baseless assumptions.
Money-grubbing scheme. "Kifflom, Zondar!"

And heck, at least Christian have the excuse of nearly two thousand years of culture and social pressure, whereas people who belive in wacky UFOs or dead religion have only themselves to blaim.
