more rune words, less baal bots, please
Starcraft is one of my favorite gaming series. I spent a ludicrous amount of my child hood playing SC1 and BW. When SC2 was announced (Finally) I nearly lost it. When it finally came out and I bought it and beat the Campaign I was left disappointed and thinking how the same people who wrote SC1 and BW came up with this game. There was nothing wrong with the gameplay it self, in fact the gameplay was/is miles ahead of SC and BW's. The writing though was atrocious and my faith in Metzen and Blizzard as a whole was broken. My displeasure with the game goes a lot deeper than just the bad writing. There is more retconning in SC2 than in any other series I have ever read. The Overmind never 'SUPRISE!' had freewill, but was merely a slave to a higher being. With this one retcon the entirety of the Zerg's storyline is changed forever. Sure the Overmind was just a talking eye but I felt like it's purpose had meaning, and the reasons why it pursued it's goals made sense. All of what you played for in that Zerg campaign became meaningless when the OM was retconned. And of course by extension Tassandar's sacrifice becomes moot and meaningless. Raynor and Kerrigan were lovers? I remember all of one line in SC where Raynor shows any romantic interest in Kerrigan, and that was a dirty thought Kerrigan picked up telepathically. Mengsk somehow went from a charismatic and intelligent Rebel leader willing to sell, cheat and manipulate his way to power to becoming Snidely Whiplash's Doppleganger. Mengsk was one of my favorite characters in SC and BW. He was a very well written character and it's sad to see him being reduced to such a low level stereotype. Example of the above: Mengsk has Titus as an operative (forcibly I might add) and Titus (And Mensgk by extension) finds Raynor in the first 5 minutes of the game. Yet Mensgk doesn't have his disposal agent put a bullet in Raynor's head, nor does he have an army or even a ghost converge on Raynor's position. No, he waits until the final moments of the game when Raynor is at his strongest to have Titus finally decide to pull the trigger, which of course fails spectacularly. This terrible writing doesn't just prove how poorly written Mengsk was, it also shows how terrible the story was as a whole.
blizzard can't restore warcraft 3 to its former glory unless they update graphics only making a story-driven sequel is absolute bullshit
blizzard can't restore warcraft 3 to its former glory unless they update graphics only making a story-driven sequel is absolute bullshit
What about the WC3 campaigns, though? Those were pretty fun and story-driven.
im not talking about expanding on/making new lore like they did in WC3's era im talking about the bullshit they're pulling now like "o lol gul dan lives in main timeline now xD" etc lore that doesnt fit in at all with the other lore like 'reviving' dead characters (illidan excluded because best character ever) or making bullshit timejumping fillers for an entire expac
Blizzard tends to have their head up their butt when it comes to how bad their storytelling is.
I hope they fix Diablo 2 because right now i can't even open it without an error message, and i really want to play on battlenet
I hope they fix Diablo 2 because right now i can't even open it without an error message, and i really want to play on battlenet
The only way I can get it to run on my PC is to set it to run in a window
I hope they bring the dialogue up to snuff in their re-masters. I don't know how I went all of those years in Diablo 2 without Mephisto calling me up on his hellphone throughout the game and letting me now in excruciating detail what Dibbilz and crew are up to while twirling his mustache, cackling and telling me how foolish I am for trying to stop them.
My only issue with D3 is how incredibly easy it is honestly. You get every skill unlocked, so the entire endgame just grinding for that extra 1% on your gear. It's one of the few ARPGs where I enjoy the leveling more than I do the endgame content.

I mean basically with new characters. I mean, blizzard has managed to make their players hate THRALL of all people by overexposure and turning him into a Mary sue. And tbh I hoped that they would just have retconned wod. But at the very least, they say they plan to get rid of gul'dan early on, so we can forget about it.
