Anybody who uses rationalwiki as a serious source for any information can be instantly ignored with no harm, because it's more biased than most pro-gg/anti-gg people

Isn't rationalwiki's gamergate pages edited by a guy named Ryulong, whom somehow managed to get himself permabanned from editing wikipedia articles about gamergate due to his edits being biased and inflammatory?
Sounds like a really good source, pally!
Read the post down that page I made. I was not familiar with the source. Even in the post I said I found it with a quick Google seach. Good lord. No one from the outside will know about this Ryulong guy if they aren't involved in this shit, and just wanted to do a quick search for info.
This has really started to become a pissing match between two arguably, equally despised factions: stop.
Despite whatever relevance any of those two groups may or may not have in this case both now and in the coming weeks, it still is not the time for that.
Whenever Someone anti-gamergate gets death threats: "Haha proffessional victims"
Whenever someone pro gamergate gets death threats: "Wow, antigamergate is awful, good thing we don't do that"
Double standards and confirmation bias is through the roofs
Someone has gone missing after being a target of a death threat and could be possibly dead now.
This isn't even comparable.
That's a little macabre considering that so far there's no direct evidence she was harmed (but I'm aware of the statistics on disappearances).
I suppose that also answers your question.
Grim yes, but there aren't a whole lot of other reasons on what might of happened, especially on a high-profile person who has already received repeated death threats.
She's been gone for a month. Nobody has seen her and nobody has been in contact with her. Either this is some shitty plan to change an identity or she's dead.
Maybe i'm a little late to the party but what's gamergate and should i care enough?
Yes or No.

You're a year and a couple months late, probably shouldn't bother looking into it at this point.

At least not unless you commit to looking into it thoroughly. The whole issue is a HUGE mess and I don't think there's a single place really captures more than half of it (and most of what's published about it has really doubtful veracity, at best).
Chances are you already care about some of the overlapping issues, but unless you want to get politically active about one of them (in which case you'll most likely run into it very quickly), I wouldn't bother with looking into GG as such.
This is fucking crazy. A disappearance potentially (and likely) tied to anti-GG, and now a possible conspiracy in the Dallas PD?
This is nuts.

it's not in certain definitions political but KIA has a thread to spread the work on her disappearance and the dallas pd not helping.

I wouldn't take an Internet conspiracy theory anywhere near this seriously lmao. It looked extraordinarily straw-grabby.

Looks more like incompetence or something in that line.
Update on the disappearance of Mercy Covington. It's been several days since we began a campaign to raise awareness about my sister's case and the lack of attention being given it by Dallas PD.
As of this morning, Mercy's mother reports a complete turn-around in effort from Dallas PD. New detectives have been assigned, phone records are being pulled, a forensics team has examined several relevant locations, and genuine concern for the case and family are being displayed from all involved. The supervisor in charge of the case has also apologized directly to family members for the way the case was handled initially.
I believe much of the credit for this change in effort is directly attributable to the attention generated by concerned people on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit (with a special nod to KiA), and other online locations where news of Mercy's disappearance was shared. Your actions prompted Dallas PD to take the case seriously and to give it the attention it deserves.
Again, I want to say, Thank You, to everyone who helped spread the word and inspire action.
Going forward... Investigators say it will be days-to-weeks for certain records to be made visible and evidence to be analyzed. With that in mind, and with the knowledge that concerned people are now involved, I believe we can step back and let these people do their jobs.
I'll be back with updates when new information becomes available.
As I will be traveling during the holidays, and often away from Internet access, feel free to share support or info on the Find Mercy page:

Really sucks that it takes social media campaign to get police to do their fucking job.
To be frank, im glad the police finally took up the investigation, otherwise reddit would have itself, which would lead to disaster

There is no conspiracy, lol.
Someone on 4chan found a frowning woman who used the word "progressive" and fired some people and used that to build this grand conspiracy involving SJWs and "diversity hires".
Basically, someone is mad that a woman is a DA. Cops routinely fuck up, but this time it just has to be a conspiracy, because of the frowning progressive woman.
Pretty sure this is what BDA meant when he called the whole thing tribalistic. The real world doesn't care enough about GG/aGG enough for this internet squabble to affect the inner workings of a district attorney's office.
Pretty sure this is what BDA meant when he called the whole thing tribalistic.
BDA tried to diffuse me calling aGG tribalistic by trying to claim that both sides were, he did not initially call them tribalistic and I don't think that GG groups are anywhere near as deserving of the title.
Investigating into a missing person's case, and finding out that the DA who would preside over it seems like the kind of person who might have a bias against the people involved in the case, as well as that they seem to be stirring up shit within their sphere of influence is not "tribalistic", it's investigative, which is how I WOULD describe the vast majority of GG activities, because that's what they do, they investigate shit because they're sick of being dismissed and called "sexist bigots" by "games media" who are massive hypocrites.
i dont see how anyone could seriously make a conspiracy out of this shit
dallas pd has a lot of shit to deal with, missing person cases over a few weeks old tend not to be prioritized because the person is likely either dead or not actually kidnapped/living on their own
The case was reported right away but the police stonewalled McGee. That is why he went public about it.

Imo its not about integrity in journalism anymore. If it was it would have fizzled out by now, for something to last as long and get as many people involved you need something to cause controversy and outrage, you need something people can take sides over and oppose, ethics in journalism by itself isn't contraversial enough, nobody in the right mind would say "We need less ethics!".
It's evolved into some psuedo-progressive vs reactionary shit heap. I'm 100% for ethics in journalism (note all journalism needs it) but all the anti-"SJW", anti-feminist, anti-whatever crap which has latched onto it makes it very very hard to associate with.
This is all fucked up. Shitty gg politics aside, I really hope they find her alive.
