Just going to quote my post in the Australia thread:
So it's not working properly.
-oh nevermind-
This game is cheesecake compared to Soldier of Fortune 2, or even 3.
You could see peoples intestines come out if you shot them in the stomach with a shotgun.
yuck
I knew I should've imported from the US.
Sweden has full on violence in the game both SP & MP.
Are you sure about that?
They advertised The Last Of Us as uncensored in Germany.
Uncut compared to the other EU versions, that is :downs:
They could've said the same thing in Sweden, so have you actually compared it with the animation above?
you people are SERIOUSLY complaining about a little less violence in a video game? you'd actually pirate it so you could get muh bloodshed? jesus fucking christ
i know you're saying it's illogical and stupid, and i agree, it's fucking retarded that you censor a video game in the nation that has its own 'r18' for video games, but you guys are just spewing mindless twaddle
Here we go again with the "muh"
everything you don't find that interesting can just be reduced to "muh (word)"
[editline]4th July 2013[/editline]
YES, I would actually pirate it just for the bloodshed. Idiot.
Uh... with EU they probably mean the German version since they usually censor the hell out that one.
Because mine is like the US version apparently.
Is the EU version the same as the UK version, or do we get the US equivalent over here?
I really don't understand the point of censoring a game like this. It is already so incredibly violent and destructive, is taking away a bit of blood or gore really going to influence anybody in one way or another?
In all of Europe?
[editline]4th July 2013[/editline]
Apparently not.
Only the multiplayer is censored.
That is probably the German version thenas mentioned, and not a EU-wide one. They've got a history of censoring games..

why is censorship of entertainment so popular in Europe and Australia again?
why is censorship of entertainment so popular in Europe and Australia again?
Censorship is even more popular in the US, it's just on different subjects. IMO censoring someone's head being exploded by a shotgun makes a bit more sense than censoring a stray nipple on television. Ideally neither should be censored at all.
I feel sorry for developers, this give pirates another reasons to pirate.
pirating because they won't see a mushed up face or two after shooting a guy
so pirates are pirating for fuck all reasons now, right?
why is censorship of entertainment so popular in Europe and Australia again?
I can only speak for Australia, but we really lag behind the rest of the western world for a lot of stuff like this, we're weirdly conservative on certain things.
When American ships docked here during WW2, our government refused to let black soldiers off the boats, for the longest time we had a literal "White Australia" policy, we didn't consider Aboriginal people to actually be people until 1967 (Before that they were considered to be animals), etc.
While games get a lot of attention, our government has banned movies and books before, it's like a strange "moral police" that people don't seem to want to notice.

Australian TV censorship is very low, a lot of shows won't get censored for swearing or nudity because of the relaxed system TV stations follow, a lot of R18+ movies are downgraded to MA15+ when TV stations edit the intense violence or sex scenes, FreeTV Australia is a supervisor watch dog for commercial channels to make sure they follow the codes of practise... Foxtel, SBS and ABC are exempt from these codes of practices and only have to listen to the AMCA or the Government
Movies, books and games are all managed through the OFLC, it really depends on what is happening, movies that are way too gruesome or are pretty much porn get rated X18+ limiting their markets to the NT and the ACT, people can apply for a downgrade of their rating and it really depends on if the OFLC see it fit, you got to put up a good argument before taking on these bastards
Oh no, how dare we let our kids view something that's in our own body?!

Channel 10 randomly censors shows, they're better for it now but if you watch older shows like Smallville (or Diagnosis Murder) they'll edit out fight scenes or character deaths. Imagine watching CSI, but they edit out the scene where the character dies.
Oh, and the OFLC doesn't exist any more, it's now called the Australian Classification Board. I only found that out a few days ago when reading about State of Decay.
Hey um
parents
instead of, like, stressing over stupid shit about "kids playing bloody games omg"
why don't learn about
what's the word

Also I read they sneakily cut out the sexual innuendo on the Simpsons, I only watch ten for the project tbh everything else I either watch on SBS or ABC
and really? OFLC was much better to say than ACB oh well

sorry but we cant let our children become serial killers
I've never understood the ratings, I though +18 meant adults only so you could pretty much put anything in a game.
Since when did +18 mean that it's suitable for children?

The 18+ rating for games only allows for expanded violence, stuff like sexual content or drug use is as limited as ever (State of Decay was banned for the same reason Fallout 3 was)

When children see something R18+ they think if they get it they'll be so cool, its like buying music with a parental advisory sticker on it and showing it to all your friends that you're the motherfucking boss

18+ is only earned with insane violence.. I have no idea how insane and sex. Sexual games always get 18+.
Parents don't seem to care about ratings since they buy the games despite all the warnings.
All of the games i would want to come out in Australia could come out with an R18+ rating. For some reason, the people rating things still have a stick up their ass when it comes to video games.
If you're going to ban SR4 for an alien anal probe, you have to ban those Destroy All Humans! for the same reason.
When children see something R18+ they think if they get it they'll be so cool, its like buying music with a parental advisory sticker on it and showing it to all your friends that you're the motherfucking boss
Ugh there're kids who do that?.. Seriously.
That's dumb. Even for kids.

So let me guess.. the same parents who whine about violence in games are the same parents who buy their kids +18 games?
That's illegal too, apparently.
Didn't stop just about fucking everyone from importing Mortal Kombat.
