Samsung Launches New Smartphone with Curved Display

wouldn't you lose the advantages of the curved screen if you went to view anything in landscape?
Take a flask, put it in your breast pocket of A suit jacket. Notice how the slight curve fits to your body real nice? Same concept with this phone.
I used to sneak a flask into homecoming or prom like that, by the way. Easy as hell.

Oh no teenagers drinking what ever will we do in this cruel, fucked up world.

No I mean the whole post would have been fine without the "oh and I snuck alcohol into my prom ", nobody's impressed
Okay this is cool. You can lay it on its face and the screen won't touch anything. It'll curve to your hip better when in your pocket. Theoretically all pixels on the screen will be facing directly towards you.
I would buy this. This might be my next phone if it's par for the course in other specs.
I'm not trying to impress anybody, I was trying to inspire future delinquents.
I have used a phone with a curved display once and personally couldn't really notice any advantages. Looks more like a gimmick to me.
I was expecting this

Honestly the photo looked like someone had gently beat their phone into a different shape.

I hope that is how the S5 will be.
The should have made screen curve all the way around the phone, so you can see info on the front, sides and back. That would have been cool.

that is so fucking cool
Just wait until they make a touchscreen that's like thin plastic. It'll be like an
interactive sheet of paper.

If you want to be semantic, the digitizer itself is a pretty thin sheet of capacitive sensors

him pronouncing "ohllids" hurts but that's insane
it's likely this screen tech being used for the display, like with the "wrap around the side" prototype in the vid. The flexibility allows for its shape, but the gimmick of having it flowing in the wind, free to flex and show off is too impractical (that big ol' box with the components in it was unwieldly and the device had no concievable way of control, like proto's talking about with digitizer stuff

people who leave autofocus on for up-close shooting like this are satan
They’ve got curved phones.
Curved. Phones.

Oh god, totally making my own Hitchhiker's Guide like the modern movie had.

It's cool, nothing I need as my S4 runs greatly, but still a neat idea.
When you put it in your pocket it wraps around your thigh a lot better.
Skinny jeans are saved

I have massive hands and fingers in addition to being half blind, having 5"+ screens for people like me is great.
iPhones are way too fucking small

You're saying this as if your opinion is a fact
