haha bitches I don't even wash my dishes
so what are they gonna find out? I use a disproportionate amount of forks and that's about the only thing he'd learn
But now you're just making conjecture that George Orwell already made. This article is a sad sad joke.
To an extent you're right, but the government hasn't had the power or technology to make 1984 a reality up to this point and It's a bit worrying to see what will happen when it does.
thing is I doubt they have the processing to reliably identify terrorist threats through these sources, simply because of the deluge of data.
They can continue to refine the process that they already use. Namely where they take in a large amount of data and use filters to narrow it down to a small list of potential threats/suspects.
American Dad is becoming less satirical and more reality every day
The naked man with the tinfoil hat and ball cup was right!
CIA has been focusing on gadgets for a long time now. Somewhat due to some massive conventional espionage fuck ups they perform now and then.

ha look like i got the last laugh. I don't have a dishwasher
God forbid you might be building bombs or making radical Islamic hate speech while you're putting the clean dishes away.
Why is everyone fretting they're obviously only making sure that your plates meet patriotic cleanliness standards and will give them an extra cycle if they don't.

That would actually be pretty badass.
I'll walk around the kitchen naked until they don't want to look anymore
Walk around the kitchen naked while doing your terrorist plots.
And then terrorism rised by 200%
I wonder; if I walked around the house naked, would the person watching would get arrested for being a paedo?
WE ARE THE NAKED RESISTANCE
Alright just want to go ahead and put this out there. Unless your TV and or Dishwasher for some reason has a built in microphone and camera, which it shouldn't, then the most anyone "hacking" into your random appliances would be able to do is see what TV shows you're watching or how much laundry you did that day.
A few TVs have built in webcams for things like Skype, but most require you to buy a special "Skype Product Webcam" to use with the application. So if you're really worried about being spied on just unplug the camera or cover the built-in with a piece of paper while you masturbate furiously in your living room.

Okay for the millionth time.
The CIA can't spy on you inside US borders.
The FBI, which is intentionally a law enforcement agency, rather than military intelligence, is tasked with all domestic operations.
The article even mentions "The CIA has a lot of legal restrictions against spying on American citizens.". The legal restrictions basically boil down to only being possible to spy on you when you are overseas.
The CIA and FBI are counterparts. Spying on American citizens would be like the air force training a bunch of front line infantry. It isn't done because it is pointless as other agencies have it covered.
Jokes on you CIA, we don't have a dishwasher.
In Kapitalist America, T.V. watches you!

You're acting like this author did silly things like "research" or "knowing even basic information about how the government works" before writing this.

I thought it was a reference to Fahrenheit 451.

it doesn't matter who's doing the spying, people are still being spied on
god bless 'murica, home of the almost-free
If any of this stuff is in my house, they're going to see a lot of masturbating.
What kind of sick fuck masturbates on a dishwasher

Not really, no. The FBI is a law enforcement agency tasked with counterintelligence. They operate within the confines of US law and as such require warrants just like any other agency. They don't spy on people anymore than any other law enforcement agency.
The entire FBI/CIA power duo was designed to prevent domestic espionage by the government.

I got it, thing is I never really got why it was so hard to circumvent.
