i don't understand "art"
art is expression of self, it doesn't even have to be a painting. it can be literally anything, that's the beauty of it being all cynical about a painting like this, acting above 'modern art' (no artists call it that, that phrase is just wanking material for the daily mail) just makes you look like an idiot trying to be edgy and cool.
Reminds me of
i don't understand "art"
Art is supposed to make the observer either A) receive a message B) feel emotion C) understand the creator's feelings Especially the B option can be achieved through paintings and sculptures that don't actually represent anything. People who don't feel emotion from these pieces of art, however, will view them as thrash.
I'm just saying there's a billion better and clearer ways to 'convey emotion' than this painting.
Abstraktes Bild, painted in 1994 , which was owned by rock star Eric Clapton, has been described as a "masterpiece of calculated chaos"
Meh, it looks to me like he forgot to carry the one.
I'm just saying there's a billion better and clearer ways to 'convey emotion' than this painting.
Sure, but creating art is easily the most fun way to convey emotion.
what is an "actual artist?" and have you even seen any of his work? look at the gallery in this page: http://www.gosee.de/news/art/gerhard-richter-uebermalte-fotografien-in-morsbroich-abstrakte-bilder-in-koeln-6147?gos_lang=en [editline]1[/editline] or search his name on gis

cod mw2 team deathmatch on Terminal
are you serious dude? it's obvious that it took more thought and skill than throwing buckets of paint at a canvas. it has a bunch of different layers and textures
thus it is now worth millions
My high school art teacher did some really awesome stuff. He used old pieces of scrap metal, welded them in to a canvas, then would paint on them, sometimes using selective rusting for parts. Many of his works looked like they could be photos. And all on sheets of metal.
If I saw a painting like that for even $5 I wouldn't buy it, but I guess someone really loves it enough to spend that much and that's fine by me.
Someone needs to re-adjust the printer heads
cod mw2 team deathmatch on Terminal
If anything, that actually means something (even if I don't really find it all that good). And why not post something like this: Trying to discredit something by pulling a joke is just a way not to present a proper argument.
Trying to discredit something by pulling a joke is just a way not to present a proper argument.
Who said I was trying to present a proper argument
I know you guys aren't art connoisseurs, but this is a pretty good piece with alot of art history behind it. It might look easy to do, but it isn't.
Who said I was trying to present a proper argument
It's not unusual for people to argue just by making the other guy's proposition sound ludicrous - I assumed this, and I'm sorry if it was not the case.

I like Eric Clapton's taste
As somebody who has an Art degree... I still don't understand this shit. £21m for what's essentially a used paint palette. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19937044
eh, can anybody see the green devil like face in the middle. Like half his face looking to the right.
IMO "art" is just who can get the most people to think it looks good and is worth paying for. There is not some kind of secret trick to understanding art.
IMO "art" is just who can get the most people to think it looks good and is worth paying for. Somewhere out there right now are people buying Kinkade paintings and dogs playing poker, and they can't wait to hang them up on their walls.
looks pretty cool to me
$34 Million cool? It's like buying an iPhone because it has the Apple on the back, only worse I think what was bought here was the fact that Eric Clapton owned it. I did this with just my Mouse in 30 minutes And unfinished it looks better, can I have $34 million
What program did you use?
pretentiousshop CS8 the only program for edgy cynics
Art Rage 3, actually. It's on Steam. All I used was my Mouse, and the Chalk and pallette knife tools It's actually a fun little program to muck around in, and very minimalist
that actually looks p. cool. to me at least.
fucking degenerative art
Why do I see the Green Goblin in the middle.
I honestly love to see the story behind this piece or collection if anyone can find it. Often times that, and the meaning behind the piece makes it so valuable, like the voice of fire.
