I wouldn't be surprised if the massive inequality in America is partially to blame for the labor surplus. If the entire young generation is lacking in resources and saddled with massive debts, then hardly anyone can afford the startup costs of entrepreneurship. Instead of unleashing the scientific, productive, and artistic ambitions of young people, we're letting it all rot on the backburner and funneling them into the offices and workspaces owned by the old men who employed their parents. The companies aren't inside the young workers' heads, so they can't understand and don't care what the new blood can envision. Everyone is then devalued to a baseline where most distinctions beyond experience are irrelevant.
