[UK] Labour slashes Tory lead to just 5 points according to new poll
Labour has slashed the Conservatives' lead in the polls to just five points, the latest YouGov/Times results show.
The party has made consistent gains in recent weeks as leader Jeremy Corbyn claimed his message was finally getting through to voters.
The results show a four point change since last week when the Tories were leading by nine percentage points - the first time Labour had narrowed the gap to single figures since Theresa May called the snap election on 18 April.
The latest poll comes after the Prime Minister made an unprecedented U-turn over her "dementia tax" plans, just four days after making them the centrepiece of her election manifesto.
A separate poll, conducted after the Tory manifesto launch, found 28 per cent of voters said they were less likely to vote Conservative because of the social care package.

Imagine if Theresa May's political career ends like this:
1. Be massively ahead in the polls
2. Realise you could easily win an election right now
3. Decide to hold the election 3 years early
4. Lose the election
I am sustained by schadenfreude, and it would keep me going long time.
Save Britian Jeremy
Even if the Tories just lose their majority I'll be happy.

The Conservatives have a terrible knack for calling votes which are basically in the bag, and then getting it completely wrong in the run up to people actually voting.
June 8th is going to be a really interesting night.
It only needs its voters in general election who voted Liberal Dems need a switch to vote Labour if they want Conservatives out of the majority.
I predict Labour will regain as Tory voters who switched from UKIP switch back in light of Manchester.
Conservative victory still likely, but what does it mean for the future of Labour if they get more seats than in 2015?
If Corbyn actually wins... is it possible to die from laughter? I'm sure I'll find out.

Note on this: If you live in an area where lib dems get more votes then obviously continue to vote lib dem (and if you're voting labour in such an area consider voting tactically), the above applies to most areas where labour > lib dem.
I like to think that Labor's change in direction with their new manifesto is what's helping them claw back votes from the Tories. Something that's bold and different to anything that we've been seeing before, a proper socialist left wing as fuck manifesto with a focus on the working class and the vulnerable of the country. Not to mention a non-retarded stance on the Brexit issue, which is actually focused around doing an amicable split with the EU and not some retarded "clean break" which amounts to shooting yourself in the fucking foot and claiming you've gained the upper hand. I've been hoping for a surge in left wing populism to counteract the disturbing rise of right wing politics in the EU's political landscape, so i hope this election goes well. Even if they don't win, a significant gain will make it fucking hard for the tories to dick around Britain. However, a win would be a fucking miracle, but that's what we said about Trump.

This shit is unbelievable. How can you fuck up this hard? Not that I'm complaining.

They got complacent, they pissed off their traditional base with their "working class" push and stupid elderly care policies, May has the charisma of a wet paper bag, and they can't just rely on Brexit any more to score votes because Labour is going to go through with it too.
Even if Labour don't win, it's massively embarrassing. They called this election because they thought they could increase their majority, not slash it back to being competitive again.

You introduce three policies that fuck up your core voter base: pensioners.
1) Winter fuel allowance reductions/elimination.
2) "Dementia tax"
3) Get rid of the triple lock on pensions
You then get an opposition party who is able to latch onto this to pull support from that voter base. Said opposition party also gets the youth vote energized more than it usually is.

Overall Labour party and Jeremy got massively prove from last weeks.
This is all well and good, but this can still go either way so I will not count my chickens.
Man I really hope this election goes to Labour, myself and a lot of people I know are really struggling under Tory austerity policies- and Labour's plans for increasing the minimum wage, abolishing exploitative contracts, making university accessible- it just removes so many of the roadblocks that make improving your lot in life so much harder for poorer people.
You Brits just keep your eyes peeled for Putin Diplomacy. If the 2016 ekection taught me anything it's that nothings done til it's done.
I'm still scared of what Manchester might do to the election result. Embattled leaders always gain temporary popularity before people count the real costs.
I can't imagine the Machester attack doing any favors to Labour. I'd wait and see what the next opinion polls say.

Didn't people say this about the terrorist attacks in France and they didn't even put a dent in Macron's popularity?
I know a general election, especially in Britain, is very different. But still.

While I find it really distasteful to think along these kind of lines, I understand that these events will have an effect on political opinion, so I get why this keeps coming up.
Labour has promised to end arms deals with the Saudi's, assuming enough people understand the Saudi connection with terrorism, they might even vote for the party pledging to oppose them over the one shaking their hands.
I really hope labour can pull this off, or at least we get a hung parliament. It's going to need everyone to get out and vote though, and tactical voting is probably needed as well.
Nice release by the IFS today saying that the Tories are going to fuck over schools if they win and keep to their spending pledges.
Lets keep this party going.
It should be noted that Labour’s increased support in this poll predominantly comes from individuals who did not vote in the 2015 General Election but are expected to vote this time around. At the beginning of May these 2015 non-voters were fairly evenly split between the Conservatives and Labour. However, at the time the most recent poll was conducted this group had switched to strongly favouring the Labour party.
This was done on the 24th and 25th. This poll IS post-Manchester. Theresa May is being blamed partially for it because of her policing cuts, which I guess is what's helping.

This election was so much easier when I knew we were going to lose
Now its looking slightly hopeful im actually getting emotionally invested and I still think im going to get hurt bad

Dude what do you mean? I don't understand. I understand English isn't your first language but I would like to clarify what you meant.

I'm so glad this shit is being dredged up, because I've said it a few times that Theresa May is the last person to be harping on about "Strong and Stable" when, under David Cameron, she was personally responsible for absolutely gutting our Police Force.
They warned her it was a terrible idea too, as the above shows.
