so is it over? who do you all think won?
Even if I were firmly neutral, Corbyn came out the better.
#BattleForNumber10 is certainly worth a peruse for giggles.

Should start blaring this if Theresa May fucks up
Beware the comments...

Corbyn handled it quite well while May played it very safe. I don't think tory voters will change their minds but I think undecideds will go with Labour.
I think that Tory lead just got even smaller now. I just don't see Theresa May holding her position for too long after that disastrous showing.

This is a good night. Even if it comes to nothing, this is a good night.

Until this election I never realised he had so much wit.
I felt like May didn't really say anything. I'm none the wiser as to what she actually wants for the country.
I get the feeling that's the idea.
It's likely that the Tories' plans are so obviously terrible that they are hoping they can wait until after the election to fill us in.
Until this election I never realised he had so much wit.
If he gets elected and keeps that level of banter up throughout his leadership he'll be awesome.

I fucking love this. just some bloke going about his day, wishing Jez luck, with the backdrop of a group of people just sat at what looks like a beer garden cheering. I'm trying not to get my hopes up until election day but damn that is a heartwarming video.
[sp]and an actually decent YouTube comments section for once[/sp]

It's the beer garden of The Clutha, just down the road from me. Wish I knew he was gonna be in the area.
Man I really hope this election goes to Labour, myself and a lot of people I know are really struggling under Tory austerity policies- and Labour's plans for increasing the minimum wage, abolishing exploitative contracts, making university accessible- it just removes so many of the roadblocks that make improving your lot in life so much harder for poorer people.
I ain't gonna say you're not right about all that, because i'm not well informed on the specific situation on the individual level in england. So i don't have a fully informed opinion.

However i'd really prefer if you folks would not elect a marxist who gives speeches under a hammer and sickle to be chancellor of the exchequer. Like seriously, electing a communist to be in charge of the economy is possibly the worst possible thing that could happen here. Please don't do this.

Outside the Clutha as well, the center of Glasgow, didn't know Corbyn was so well liked here

I know a lot of people who would vehemently disagree with you on that. Communist parties are fairly popular here in Glasgow.

Seeing Boris trying to so hard to dodge questions is hilarious, they all must be terrified of losing now

our other choice are the tories who enact economic policies which don't work and put on more debt and impoverish people further

I'm really unsure about how to vote in this election and I was really liking Corbyn's performance, but the mention of McDonnell during the Paxman interview pulled me right out of it

Though my seat's been Tory for 100 years so it doesn't matter anyway

Context is key, is that flag part of his set or is he merely speaking to people so aligned? Not really that fussed about it either way tbh, it's not like his individual views are going to have a massive impact on their policy on the whole. "Worse" case scenario I can see a few more socialist ideas on the table.

Every vote matters. I would plead with you to vote for Labour despite anything extreme you may hear about McDonnell or Jezza. At the end of the day the Labour manifesto is created through a democratic process in the Labour party, which ultimately means there are no extreme policies set fourth. It is a revolutionary manifesto that benefits all of us (except for the super rich and famous that is)

And even then, they don't necessarily get it worse, they just don't get the non-stop benefits of constant tax cuts at the expense of everyone else.
Oh no, you'll have to downsize to three yachts. I feel for you. I really do.
May can't debate for shit and folds like a pack of cards and reverts to attacking labour all the time, while Corbyn can hold his own weight in a debate and can get a few zingers, litterally nothing I did not already know.
Am I the only one who thought Paxman was awful for most of that though, calling May a Blowhard aside.

All his questions to Corbyn were cheap shots about out of context smears, which in fairness probably benefited him insofar as he could explain and promote himself as a leader which is the only place Labour are really struggling right now.
It's funny how before the last month or so, everyone was calling for Corbyn to step down, and now he actually has a chance to demonstrate leadership qualities he's back on the Christmas card list.
My objection to Corbyn wasn't to do with his policy or his character, it was to do with the uphill battle he would face to convince the country he could be prime minister. At the time I felt that we had a better chance of a labour government with someone else in charge. We're clearly seeing right now that whilst he's doing a very impressive job of overcoming the aggressive smear campaigns against him and has improved in both public speaking and his ability to lead through compromise and consensus, his own polling is the biggest weakness of Labour right now, however he's surprised me and proven me wrong in a lot of ways, and is doing a good job of changing this.

While Ive always liked the guy, I can understand where they are coming from.
For the longest time "Corbyn is an un-electable joke!!!!" was the popular narrative being pushed by everyone from the right wing press to defeatist left wing posters. While I definitely don't think he deserved it, people railed on the guy hard and he ended up with a shit reputation.
Is it any surprise that people are warming up to the dude now that he's actually being given a chance to dispel that reputation and show that he's a good choice for PM after all?
our other choice are the tories who enact economic policies which don't work and put on more debt and impoverish people further
And a marx based policy won't?
This is the guy who famously/infamously wrote that an increase in wages would be of no use to workers, and that therefore unions were ultimately a pernicious concept.
Even if the rest of labor were all messianic figures, this guy being given the reigns to the economy is already an absolute damnation for labor. I cannot overstate the consequences of someone like this in charge.

Basic public services that are properly funded leading to a more prosperous country which benefits the majority?
Whatever his more wild theroies for the economy might be, they will be reined in. Labour support unions and higher wages pretty strongly. He would be replaced otherwise.
