You don't know what their intentions are. You just don't.
Intentions no, but the motivation is religious. It's pretty obvious.
I wonder what his motives are, The Quran say's a lot about betraying and killing westerners. Perhaps it's part of something bigger and this is just a distraction.
Please keep your camera still, 7.
I wonder what his motives are, The Quran say's a lot about betraying and killing westerners. Something has really ticked this guy off. I really just hope it settles without any innocent people getting hurt. I've been staying up watching, and it sucks because I have to be up for work in 2 hours now. Was hoping to see it all settled, but I suppose I will have to hope it has ended when I wake up.
I think this is beyond NSW police, 30-40+ hostages is a lot. TAG East are going to be called in I think.
You've got to optimistic. Depending on situational factors and others in play determine whether such a response is necessary. NSW Police Special Operations could handle this tbh. TAG East + the Navy's CDT (clearance diving teams) and other counter-terrorism organisations probably would be called in should they find any explosive ordinance on the suspect or any significant automatic weapons
Please keep your camera still, 7.
They want to see whose paying attention
The radio statoin 2GB has now confirmed through its Twitter feed that its host ray Hadley did indeed talk to a hostage involved in the Lindt cafe siege. To clarify, Ray Hadley was contacted by the hostage, the call was taken off air and then confirmed by the Police Commissioner.
.
This is very odd, it's been 4+ hours and his motives/demands are still not clear
Props to Ray for not putting the call on air
100 years ago.
Yeah back in WW1.
I wonder what his motives are, The Quran say's a lot about betraying and killing westerners. Perhaps it's part of something bigger and this is just a distraction.
1) Shut up 2) Shut up and most importantly 3) Shut the fuck up
This is very odd, it's been 4+ hours and his motives/demands are still not clear
Probably are none. Terrorism is a weird thing my friend.
Probably are none. Terrorism is a weird thing my friend.
"I want people to be afraid, and I want them to kneel to my twisted ideology. I wish to rule through fear and violence" Those are the motives
Intentions no, but the motivation is religious. It's pretty obvious.
the religious imagery are part of a greater politically-rooted backlash. islamist terrorism occurs against western countries because of the belief that western intervention and globalization threaten their self-determination and values system. religion is just a rallying point. while they are wrong to use violence to achieve their goals, they aren't wrong to be upset. britain carved up the middle east post-wwi with practically arbitrary lines under subservient authorities, and at the same time enclosed groups that hated each other, much like what they did to their portions of africa. later down the line, both britain and the united states had a hand in overthrowing anti-US governments and supporting tyrants. then, separate from any direct judgments of right or wrong, there's the whole gigantic mess about israel (which was formed and supported by western powers), which is in of itself a very complex issue.
1) Shut up 2) Shut up and most importantly 3) Shut the fuck up
I'm just discussing motives, if you disagree, rate disagree and move on, no need for flaming mate.
Props to Ray for not putting the call on air
Reminds me of this episode of Frontline: http://youtu.be/ONA8UmFdEyM?t=11m7s Skip to 11 minutes
This is very odd, it's been 4+ hours and his motives/demands are still not clear
Probably because they're keeping a lid on it because theres a lot of lives at risk. Just because the media doesnt report on it does not mean that the police dont know [editline]14th December 2014[/editline]
I'm just discussing motives, if you disagree, rate disagree and move on, no need for flaming mate.
How are you not banned for the shitpost responses you keep putting in this
I'm just discussing motives, if you disagree, rate disagree and move on, no need for flaming mate.
No you're injecting ideology into a hostage situation which could do with everything EXCEPT that right now so bugger off
No I'm saying that his motives are part of something much bigger than taking hostages, trying to deduce what possible demands he could make that would help his cause. Short of him demanding that Australia leaves ISIS alone, which is what i'm thinking.
Motives are not clear yet. For all we know he's just a nutjob who lives in his mom's basement and pretends to be a jihadist.
"But but but he has a flag"
god you're a bogan
Let's not focus on me and my commodore, but the hostage situation. I'm really interested in hearing what the hostage taker said to the radio host, I wonder if it really was that he wanted to speak to Abbot on Air, that would certainly not end well, Abbot is no wordsmith.
I feel sorry for the Muslims around Australia that are gonna cop shit from the racist bogan Australians after this is over.
