9 reports with police source that two have been killed. So it's official now. Two dead, at least one a hostage which is upsetting.
The gunman believed to be one of the two.
If a hostage died I bet the cops are kicking themselves that they didn't order the police snipers to shoot the hostage taker through the window.
Imagine a sniper shooting at the suspect, a split second before pulling the trigger, a woman accidentally walks in the line of fire, critically injuring her and thus the terrorist being unharmed. Then the terrorist in a rush of adrenaline begins shooting around the place, executing every hostage he's able to. The police then rush into the chaos, terrorist opens fire on the policemen. Police men respond with deadly force while the remaining hostages are still trying to flee the site, but end up in the line of fire between the police and the terrorist and thus end up seriously injuring or killing a few. Might look like an unbelievable scenario, but it could very well be real. Imagine the police trying to explain why they took the highly unnecessary chance.
ABC hasn't said anything [editline]16th December 2014[/editline] 9 "nobody will be mourning Man Moris today.." "now let's take you to a story about the life of Man Moris" What the fuck
For people that are saying police should of used a sniper. Just letting you know, martni place is a very narrow street, its not possible or practical for a sniper.

They must have made it to be played in the morning as the raid was still going.
If a hostage died I bet the cops are kicking themselves that they didn't order the police snipers to shoot the hostage taker through the window.
"Why didn't they just shoot the hostage taker?" Holy shit, great idea, they probably never thought of that. Why aren't you working as a police tactician already?
The report about him is in the present tense though. ABC24 are still saying the army was involved. The newsroom lady says she saw an 'army uniform'. Seeing as early she was calling the bomb-suit a uniform and the bomb-suit guy 'army' I'm not so sure.

All the reports I'm seeing is "it is Reported" and "we believe". This is where fact and fiction get merged. Hopefully the ones injured will be ok.
Rightyo, all the news channels seems to be filling time until the police conference. Bed time for me. Today is going to be one hell of a shitstorm.
So is the gun man dead or what? there is so much information being thrown around here
Unless ABC confirms it, then it's not confirmed seeing as ABC is only listening to the police and 7 and 9 are listening to twitter
Been at school for 4 hours Can i get a update
So is the gun man dead or what? there is so much information being thrown around here
no report yet

Going to bed now, Australia will never be the same after this and reactions tomorrow and the rest of this week will be interesting. My thoughts go out to the families of the (rumored) dead and of all those who are injured.
I think I'm going to stop following this, there's no point, it only causes me distress, I'll wait for the official reports and hope that the guys handling the situation did the best they could. There's no words for the hostage(s) that died, if it's confirmed, unbelievable this happened, it's only going to make things worse.
Not rumoured, it's confirmed with a police source.
Not rumoured, it's confirmed with a police source.
Not until ABC says so.

everyone is bitching about how long the conference setup is taking, forgetting that police are working hard to get their heads around the aftermath
7 and 9 are just taking rumors from anywhere abc isn't corporate and is more reliable and less sensationalist.
7 are only saying this because 1. their vantage point 2. they were with a police sniper but all he said was "hostage down" which could mean anything
A couple of bombsuit guys are going in now
Bulldozers know how to do their job, for sure. I am sorry ;_; (User was banned for this post ("Shitpost" - SteveUK))
