Police are reported to be responding to a situation at the Opera House as well now. Unknown if it's related, though
Its reported that its being evacuated, but is unrelated. Possibly a fire drill or something
Loud shouting, whole street just went dead quiet.
ABC isn't doing shit, just talking about Tony's response
Police are reported to be responding to a situation at the Opera House as well now. Unknown if it's related, though
Links please.
Doubt it. They'd get attention regardless of wherever it is.
Not really. When something like this happens news stations are quite quickly pulled back and get shit shots. With 7 news literally being on the scene from the get go, they were able to get good shots of stuff like the flag.

They're just calling it an incident, so meh. Also I keep seeing places report that there's FIFTY people inside the cafe. Where are they getting those numbers? Even the CEO of Lindt says 50
An interesting dynamic:
Lindt chocolate refuses to become halal certified.
It's a possible connection.
I think international jihad has better targets to attack in Martin place than a swiss chocolate company over fucking halal certification.
The muslims I've had contact with have been way nicer than anyone else. The Quran is just as violent as the Bible and both of which have no causation of violence of everyone who has faith in said relations. Take your stupid claims and get out of here.
I'm not singling any religion out, read my last sentence.
And No, the violent passages in the Quran and the Bible have both been the causation of violence.
Abbott about to speak
Whole city is now in lockdown - noone crossing the harbour bridge now, trains not running through city, no buses, etc.
Because it sells. The Munich incident was a complete mess anyway, I could go on all day about West Germany fucking that up beyond belief but this isn't the time
There should probably be a way to put a time lag or something like that on TV broadcasts for things like these.

Dude. Nobody gives a shit about your religious views right now. Nobody wants to hear it. Save it for another time please.
There should probably be a way to put a time lag or something like that on TV broadcasts for things like these.
There is, a minimum of 5 seconds. But when shit is falling I doubt they're going to turn the broadcast off because again, it sells.
ABC Reporting one man has been arrested and people being evacuated.

Won't be surprised if Queensland and Melbourne raise security
Opposition Leader has made a statement, now waiting on PM - should be about 5 minutes.
Also apparently the police may have grabbed a handgun while the arrest occurred.

ABC stream is saying nothing
From Channel 9: there's word going around that the hostage taker in the Cafe who wants to speak to Abbott on the radio says there's devices spread around Sydney
Won't be surprised if Queensland and Melbourne raise security
I don't think Brisbane will need to bother - Melbourne maybe
snip nvm
ABC stream is saying nothing
The strap is reporting it though.
NSW Police say arrest not related.
What time is it in Sydney?
Also guys if possible, watch the Channel 7 stream - its being quite objective and their offices are literally opposite the cafe in Martin Place, so they're the best placed to inform us about what's going on - their newsroom got evacuated and they're all on the ground around the area.
The strap is reporting it though.
ABC stream just stated that the arrest was unrelated to the situation.
ABC say that the man being arrested has nothing to do with the siege.
Looks like I was ninja'd.
