oh no wait here we go, now they're covering it
That's just terrible. I don't live very far from here. I heard an odd loud boom earlier, but I assumed it was just SpaceX testing again.. :/
60-70 dead estimated by EMS/Fire Officials. Two dead EMTS, and three dead firefighters suspected
Jesus fuck
We had something like this at a frozen meat works a couple of years back but nowhere near as massive an explosion or death toll
What a shit week for the US
SEVENTY people? Jesus christ, this is way, way worse than I thought it would be.
Why are some people complaining about media bandwagoning?
When would the media ever not cover a fertilizer plant blowing up

They assumed it was a minor event that the media was latching onto because of the word "explosion" being the new buzzword after Boston, even though this wasn't a bombing.
In other words, they're assholes who laughed off 70 dead people because explosions are just media buzzwords.

Little more extended video to the one shown earlier...Makes the scene even more grim.
Via Aftenposten.no:
60-70 dead, more feared.
75-100 buildings destroyed.
City West (pop. 2700) being evacuated.
Nursing home collapsed with people trapped inside.
I passed through this place anytime I went down to Austin or San Antonio because it's right on I-35. I'd always recognize it because they had the "Czech Bakery" or something similarly named as a tourist draw right on the highway, because apparently they have a history with Czech settlement in Texas.
Really unfortunate event for them.
what the fuck is goin on

Christ. Oh, god, this is awful.
Been texting a bunch of friends up around Waco all day, one lives a few miles past West and said he heard the explosion. He has a friend who lives in West and is freaked out.
This week sucks.
Oh my God
I'm actually shaking after watching that video. Fucking terrifying.
Waco? Fertilizer?
Oh, if this had happened on Friday I would swear it was the ghost of Timothy McVeigh that returned to haunt us.

The explosion came two days before the 20th anniversary of a fire in Waco that engulfed a compound inhabited by David Koresh and his followers in the Branch Davidian sect, ending a siege by federal agents. Some 82 members of the sect and four federal agents died at Waco.
seriously this is kind of unnerving
Umm well you realize that it wasnt IN waco, it was NEAR waco in a town called "west"

Need a source for the body count. Everyone is reporting only two deaths so far.
Same for buildings. They only report a dozen surrounding buildings damaged.
