Oh my god. I didn't know that many people died. How awful.
Umm well you realize that it wasnt IN waco, it was NEAR waco in a town called "west"
I'm just saying it would be close enough for a mentally unstable copycat
Everything is going to hell in a hand basket
Regarding the death toll nothing has been confirmed yet. The previous figure was given by an EMT chief for the city as an estimate. The representative with the Texas DPS only comments that there have been over 60 injuries and "some fatalities" but would not give a figure. I just feel horrible after watching that extended video. This was a pretty crappy week... Really hoping that it was an accident.
Thank god. I'm just hoping that ends up being true. Maybe the 60-70 figure was injuries, not deaths.
Anything can change right now. They're focusing on containing the fire first before they begin trying to analyze the scope of the damage. They'll likely give a figure when the DPS or some other state representative gives a press conference. From the same newspaper as before, they say the DPS will have a figure by sometime in morning. Someone of authority in a cowboy hat gave some kind of conference at the scene, said they hope to know by 6AM.
well the bomb squad was called in
To be honest with you I would hope and expect a bomb squad would be called to every explosion. Even if its not a bomb, they are generally experts when it comes to dealing with explosives so they are probably useful to have around when shit is blowing up.
Someone of authority in a cowboy hat
This is probably the greatest thing you've ever posted
Need a source for the body count. Everyone is reporting only two deaths so far. Same for buildings. They only report a dozen surrounding buildings damaged.
My source is http://www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/uriks/Voldsom-eksplosjon-ved-gjodselfabrikk-i-Texas-7177775.html#.UW-F97WGGSo They are citing local authorities, where the figures and estimates are from. All papers citing these numbers are actually citing the local authorities, however those numbers may be wrong.
3 explosions in 3 days. I feel the media is paying attention to common accidents due to boston for more viewers.
Dozens so far dead so no you're wrong. The media would've grab this regardless of what recently has happened.
why in the living fuck is a fertilizer plant that can do that much damage out of an accident that fucking close to the public area!?
why in the living fuck is a fertilizer plant that can do that much damage out of an accident that fucking close to the public area!?
They probably had to build the homes around it. This is a small town, they don't have much space to work with. Also gives the people who work at the plant a short distance to walk.
I don't know if it's been posted cause I'm on my phone but here's the video to that gif that was posted earlier just listen to that motherfucker
is it bad that i thought that instead of a factory i thought it was one plant with fertilizer in it that did this?
the vid shot from the car that passthebong posted is even sadder cos of the kid going "i cant hear i cant hear" over and over again idk anything about deafness but couldn't that kid be deaf for like the rest of their life because of that explosion [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] or at least have serious ear damage

Permanent hearing damage is possible, but you can never know really.
It has just been a shitty week, good god.
Holy fucking shit.
That's a scrapyard [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] If that's not a scrapyard, why are all the cars ancient?
That's a scrapyard [editline]18th April 2013[/editline] If that's not a scrapyard, why are all the cars ancient?
1) because it's an old picture 2) they're covered in dust because an explosion just happened
Sorry guys, only just woke up and thought that pic was meant to be from the current incident.
why in the living fuck is a fertilizer plant that can do that much damage out of an accident that fucking close to the public area!?
Good question. Probably the local authorities turning a blind eye becuase they bring in a lot of jobs and money. Something similar happened in the Netherlands a decade ago, when a fireworks factory built smack in the middle of a residential zone caught fire and exploded. The neighborhood was pretty much flattened. Question of the Day tommorow: Who did it? / Who fucked up? Because if this was intentional then the shit will assuredly hit the ventilation device we call a fan.
here's a map of the tank that exploded. I'm living ~10 mi from this plant. I'm actually a little surprised I didn't feel or hear such a massive explosion. There is a cold front coming in that is supposed to be shifting the winds my direction. So I'm a little more concerned about possible contaminates in the air...

The plant was probably already there before the town expanded towards it.
Actually, if you look at the plant from google earth, you would see that it's situated next to a railroad line. I imagine this is going to fall back onto not only the overseer of the plant, but also the Texas OSHA head and other regulatory officials who were in charge of keeping these things from happening and spotting problems.
Waco? Fertilizer? The plant was probably already there before the town expanded towards it.
The rail line is the whole reason there's a town there in the first place.
The path of the railroad passed through land owned by Thomas West, who moved to the area in 1859. A train depot was built on the land he sold to the railroad company and the land running beside the tracks was divided into small sections and sold to people wanting to start businesses. The new depot included a post office, and from that time forward it was known as the West Post Office. Mr. West served as postmaster while opening the first general store. He became a successful businessman, later owning a hotel, a furniture store, and a bank.
