The term alt right just ends up being a tool for motte and bailey style bullshit. You call someone alt right, go around saying alt right people are white supremacists and then when someone says they arent alt because they arent a white supremacist people just go "oh alt right is more than white supremacy".
you can say the exact thing for terms like 'sjw' yet i never see anyone saying this shit about people calling even slightly liberal or social leaning views 'sjw's
What does suspected alt right even mean?
Its when you tie a rock to their legs and throw em in the water, but they float.
Alt-Right literally lost all meaning at this point.
It was basically a term for moderate /pol/ kiddies who get all their political information from memes and don't give a shit otherwise unless memes are involved.

SJW is very often used that way too, heck i even see people on these forums call themselves SJWs just for being slightly liberal. I do think the term "alternative right" wins on vagueness though. SJW is vague term but it does have some words that mean things in there, wheras "different conservative" doesnt really mean fuck all.
Good riddance. Not even for any neo-nazi affiliations, it was just a terrible show. Use the time slot for something of actual quality.
What's that? You want more Seth McFarlane? Alrighty then!
Seriously though Adult Swim stop with the Family Guy shit and get some more original content.
I usually look past a person's beliefs when enjoying their content, Sammy's been making it real hard lately though.
I honestly liked the show, found some of the social issues they parodied in the show humorous and smart, but I can see how people might not like how vulgar and raw it can be. It's absurdist humor and a lot of people take it literally and don't see any symbolism. I'm not a fan of certain skits even though I understand the message or joke, but I fail to see how any of it could be considered alt-right unless you take it literally, and from the stuff I looked at online Sam Hyde's stuff is intentionally disruptive and vulgar but still has artistic value. It's basically like punk rock except for comedy.
First they came for the weird off the wall comedy shows, and then I said nothing, for I was not a comedy show.
Pretending ParkourDude91 and Gamergate is the reason MDE is portrayed as Alt-Right is just disingenuous though.
I have a feeling the majority of people talking about Sam Hyde and MDE watched the Ted Talk and World Peace only.
I've seen his standup, I could be wrong of course but considering how he purposefully gets himself thrown out I'm definitely inclined to believe that all his stand-up material is just a big joke.
Same with shit like officer maggot. Was arguably making more fun of violent cops than black stereotypes.

I'd argue the point of officer maggot was "This is what hug-boxers think about every single cop"
I checked for the "hidden messages" both during and after the show's run, besides the manifesto parts which were blatantly just to be provocative, there isn't a single piece of purposely harmful or 'call for violence' message in there.
The whole point of MDE is absurdist "everyone is a target and everything can be funny" humor. They shut it down because they don't want some very weak people's feelings to be hurt.
I also like how absolutely no one acknowledges Sam's direct response video which is about the only time besides a few livestreams where he has been 100% honest with his opinions(besides a few in-jokes spread out in the response vid). He outright says in the video he doesn't want the left or the DNC to completely crumble but wants them to get some integrity back because that's when democracy can function correctly.
MDE: WORLD PEACE. The tv show that was so ALT RIGHT that the soundtrack for one of the episodes almost exclusively used music by a Bi-racial Transwoman.
Me

Yeah like more one-off animated shows about talking animals, that's the ticket!
MDE was a powerful ALT right conversion platform. I almost became a neo nazi after episode 1

But but... my narrative of cis white scum????
Typical bullshit dogma bullying imo, sad to see the show go even though i haven’t gotten through half of it yet
why didnt they cancel it for being painfully unfunny
because loiter squad got 3 seasons
the editing and composition of this show is some of the best stuff i've seen on TV in a while. them MDE boys do know how to be creative

[as] canceling World Peace is exactly why World Peace needs to exist.
I really thought [as] had balls. We are talking about the network that aired a show about literally a talking ass. I guess they got neutered in the last couple of years when they went mainstream? Idk.
I used to define Adult Swim as the station where a kind of art could go to exist on television where it couldn't anywhere else. Now I'll just define it as the station that was too wimpy to do what... run something slightly out of the comfort zone?
I probably define myself as more left-leaning and I loved the show. Grow a fucking foreskin.
Seems like a lot of lies were told to make the MDE crew seem racist (IE the swastikas) and people around the William St office were upset about the election and took it out on the show.
It's really too bad, not all of the skits were amazing but there were a few really good ones and not a lot of bad ones.
I saw an article on the cancellation of the show on the A.V. Club and the comment section was just atrocious, I can't believe how so many people seemed to believe that Sam Hyde and MDE are all white supremacists and neo-nazis.
And that Buzzfeed article is a joke, claiming that Hyde was in black face in the scene with the girlfriend when he at most has a fake tan on and there's some strange lighting.
I hope that they all land on their feet and don't take this too hard.
What a shame. The show was fucking gold. Especially this bit:

ohm y god im sorry for the 2 page late reply but i was really confused about this video but the last 5 seconds literally had me screaming laughing this show is amazing
Definitely didn't expect this. World peace was really hit and miss with its humor but cancelling it as an act of censorship sets a really bad precedent. The thing about MDE's humor is that it made a point if upsetting people and forcing them to rethink popular ideas, and as our society becomes more liberal we have a dire need decent satire of the left, because just like the right, the left does get stupid (ie identity politics, identity politics identity politics) and satire is an important tool of spreading awareness of that . Whether or not MDE was great at filling that niche, it's obvious that they shut down the show because Sam is (i think, not sure if that was kayfabe) a trump supporter and the show made fun of 'the wrong side.' As a liberal that agrees with sam hyde on very little, I think that this is super fucked and will only feed extremism on both sides.

I'm not very politically engaged, but living in Norway and being contempt with most of our politics I'm probably very left-leaning.
Still, I find Sam funny and I watch a bunch of his stuff. Cancelling a show because it offends the easily offended really just proves a point about our current society.
MDE WP wasnt even """alt right""", im surprised Hyde was able to say nigger uncensored on tv but thats maybe the only discrepancy i saw out of the whole show
bit eh that a show comes along to challenge beliefs on either side of the political spectrum and ppl within [as] want it shut down like eric andre who i love but he should of let it slide
[editline]6th December 2016[/editline]
dont get me wrong hyde can be pretty stupid at times and very offensive but wp was tame compared to his other work
where is the eric andre vs MDE thing coming from? Ive never seen it

i don't think it's about the show itself as much as it's about sam's actions outside of the show

theres a rumour iirc that Eric Andre was staunchly against this show and wanted it cancelled more than likely bc after his show, world peace was on and he doesnt support Hyde's views
theres no definite source and Andre has never publicly commented on world peace from my memory

Yeah and 4chan had a big hate-boner for Eric Andre for similar reasons, so I wouldn't give it any credit. MDE was always really hit or miss, you get heavily subtle gems like ideas man and then there's just garbage like Sam going to a Democrat rally and putting text next to somebody just to say they're ugly. As of late, it's descended into just bullshit where they push buttons instead of making some clever critiques of the follies of neoliberalism and how it negatively affects liberals.
Can't say I'm shocked. They censored Charls Trump beanie in the Teacher skit
Can't say I'm shocked. They censored Charls Trump beanie in the Teacher skit
Ha, it's like that time HLN/CNN censored a Trump Supporter's shirt.
Can't have people see such nasty language that about half the population is fine with.
Sam Hyde has already been known as an alt-right kiddie, but MDE was pretty funny sometimes. Other times it was shit.
Wouldn't have mind the show being cancelled except for the fact it's because of this stupid reason. I thought Adult Swim was a place where art in television could flourish without stigma or corporate chumps pandering to the majority. Where are your balls, [as]?
