Xbox One + Kinect = $500
PS4 + Eye = $460
There likely will not be a price drop.

The Eye is completely optional and 75% of people won't want/need it. The Playstation 4 is much more powerful than the One, it has more exclusives, more games in development, better deals (Playstation Plus and weekly sales, handles media extremely well while focusing on the games and supports indie-developers.
Can't see why anyone would want the Xbox One other than the very few "worthwhile exclusives" which are pretty much the same old shit so far.
Honestly the only bullshit policy was the online 24 hour check thing and always enabled Kinect.
Get rid of that and I'd gladly sacrifice used games in favor of being able to share my gaming library with 10 "family members". Before anyone calls me a fan boy, I was buying both (the Xbox One reluctantly for Killer Instinct)
You get one character with Killer instinct and have to buy the rest. Don't know who decided that was a good idea but they're getting shitcanned for sure.

Yeah pretty shitty considering there will be a lot of people online that only have the default free character but they confirmed you'll be able to purchase it as a full game like normal so I'm definitely getting that.
all XO got is Halo 5 ( I have yet to watch the trailer how good/bad does it look.?)

Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Halo Something, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break, Ryse, technically Titanfall, technically Minecraft, and Project Spark. A bit more than just Halo 5.
Sorry Microsoft, but you can't take back a first impression. Maybe change the name and I'll start to forget how much I don't like your product.

There was something that had an absolutely terrible first impression in the eye of the public before it was released. It's called the PS3 and it was to be sold for 599 US dollars. A full 300 dollars more than the base 360 model. That was absolutely terrible and the PS3 became a laughing stock for a good while. For the first few years, it affected sales and games dearly. Not enough games were coming out and the wave of "PS3 has no games" jokes came. Blame it on the specs or PS2 support or whatever, it was still an absolutely terrible thing that ruined the first impression of the console.
Then around the time in InFamous, it started to get on the right track. Price drops and more games got the console back on it's feet. A new "Slim" model which took up 99% less space than the original model, at the expense of backwards compatibility, was introduced and then it was all great. Then the Vita came along and kind of fucked up but it is getting rather good.
The last "major" console that completely failed that I remember was the PSP GO for various reasons that couldn't be fixed on a software or price side. If the One doesn't sell well at launch, it can and most definitely will come back into the spotlight.
Why is everyone saying the damage has already been done when the consoles haven't even released yet. First off everyone complained and wanted change, but now that they have change they ignore it.
"Hey peeps, let's drop all the shit that they complained about and after they all go out and buy the console, let's implement them again!"

Somehow your name fits this comment.

the f2pness of killer instinct is basically a demo. wouldn't get as popular if they just said "demo"

gamers' feelings are very sensitive and they get offended when huge companies don't pander to them and their oddly specific requirements that change depending on how much they hate aforementioned company

If that Halo Something you're talking about is Halo: Spartan Assault, it's not coming on Xbox. Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 exclusive.
Good news. Only one of what you speak of now even exists.
24 hour policy? gone
Always enabled Kinect? When off only responds to "Xbox On," when on you can set it to not take in voice commands
Game Share Library? Gone due to no online DRM
Your fanboyism always makes me so sad because you get me thinking positively of the One and then I remember that the system probably won't even be available here for a year or two.
And that they treat consumers like shit.

It's whatever Halo they showed at E3. They just called it "Halo" so I have no clue what they are going to use a number or something akin to Reach or ODST.

Region Locks are gone... You could you know...

Isn't that Halo 5? The wiki is telling me it's an unnamed video game and I can find no mention of Halo 5, but it seems that's what it should be.

Yeah, it is what everyone is calling Halo 5. However, I don't think Halo 4 has lived a full lifespan for them to give it a number yet.

Oh cool.
I might even get one used in a year or two then.
To be fair, he does get COD dlcs earlier on the Xbox One...
The only reason i would get an Xbox would be for halo Thats why i got the first xbox and the 360, Now that Halo is basically dead and microsoft are shitting all over it. and milking it for $$$ i have no need for a Xbone, if i wanted a console i would get the PS4 as it is better and cheaper, the only game i really play anymore is battlefield, and seeing as i can get that on the even more superior PC,its looking like i have £400 going towards a PC upgrade that will be better than anything 8th gen consoles can bring.
Great i guess, still getting a PS4 but at least once i get a Xbone i won't have to deal with that shit.
Ha..still going with sony..
i'm getting an xbox one because it has games i'm more interested in
You mean the multiplatform games that you can get on PS4/Wii U/PC? Minus the benefits of the PC/WiiU and the PS4?

PS4 for exclusives
PC for everything else.
Seriously, go look at the lineup of Playstation 3 exclusives. You'd be missing out.
This is great news, even if you plan on buying a PS4. A runaway console race would be terrible for gamers, now there is going to be actual competition since the main differences are the price and the exclusives.
now remove the need for kinect and strip it's price off of the console
Great, they got rid of the shitty stuff with the console, and at the same time stripped it of all originality. Why couldn't they have gotten rid of the DRM and kept things like family sharing and discless play?
Give every disc a one time activation for installation, but allow the disc itself to be used for play at any time. It gives people an incentive to buy games new for the convenience of the install, but allows discs to function in the same way they always have for lending/used games.
Not perfect, but I think something like that would be great.
I also hope the whole cloud thing goes ahead. I mean, that's perfectly possible to do without the 24 hour connection check, games that make use of the cloud will just need to say they require a constant internet connection clearly on the box.
meh, it still expensive
Too late, the damage is already done.
PS4 is better
PC master race
i think you're taking things a bit too seriously because 'pc master race' sounds cheeseball as hell, like it's some kind of exclusive club
While this is welcome news, have they said anything about their policy regarding self-publishing and indie games in general?
