I wonder how long it take for them to extract enough stem cells for this to work.
... it's already working?
Put some coloring in there and you can spray graffiti into your new skin!
It'd be fun until it starts growing, though. :gay:
This is fucking amazing.
Now all we need is spray on organs
You know what would be really cool? If science could remake senses, so if you are a pirate or a deaf guy or something, you can get your sight/hearing back. That would be so cool
We're getting there: http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/health/breakthroughs/next-gen-digital-sight-could-cure-blindness-2

I'm so fucking glad I live in this day and age. Born too late to explore Earth Born too early to explore Space firsthand Born at the exact right time to explore the human genome and it's capabilities. Hoo fucking ah for the 21st century

Hoo fucking ah for the 21st century
Doesn't mean a whole lot though, we hear about all these fantastic procedures and potential cures for deadly sickness and disease all the time. Some of them are actually ready for practical applications, but do we ever see them full scale and in most hospitals? No. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I honestly believe we're held back by certain corporations because they would rather profit off of the constant need for their product - IE Meds to prevent/cure disease, expensive procedures that require a lot of follow ups and more surgeries. What bothers me even more then that is we have these brilliant ideas but not a whole lot of people will jump on board and take the chance. They're afraid of failure because in their eyes failure is a loss of money/profit. But in the long term solution failure isn't bad, you can only learn from it. It allows you to branch out and follow other ideas that can possibly lead to new solutions and various applications. We have all this knowledge and new technology at our disposal but it feels as if we do nothing with them. As for the video, that is incredible. I actually know someone who is a burn victim - almost all of his body was burned. He functions normally, but obviously it isn't the same as before. Imagine if he had this technology used on him, he would be in way better shape then he is now.
This is one example of why the moral arguments against stem cell research really don't hold water.
I thought this wasn't an issue anymore, as they could get stem cells other ways other than from fetuses?
Then maybe I can get my dick back, bless science.
The thing is that you would have to get it from a different stem donor, which would probably end up with your dick abandoning ship and saying "fuck you"
I thought of medi-gel. This is pretty amazing. Imagine it as a regular daily consumer portable device
reality sure as fuck is more awesome than science fiction science.
This is a breakthrough in stem cell research, its just too awesome not to pass up. From regrowing skin in an hour to soon remaking actually working organs for transplants via printers (or something like that), the future is coming faster then we expect it to be. 2020-2060 is going to be the best time for science and technology that will forever change our thinking. And I can't wait.
First off, if you didn't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist then you failed miserably. Secondly, a company that creates the cure for diseases would probably delight in its ability to completely destroy its competition. Unless of course you think all companies are in collusion with one another, in which case you are in fact a conspiracy theorist.
Well actually there's been incredible strides with stem cell research with complete organ reconstruction. Some of the blind have been able to completely reclaim their sight just from their stored stem cells.
There have been advances in stem cell technology that have allowed a blind man to regrow parts of his retina. Also, camera implants have been developed which can interface directly with the patient's brain, when stem cell treatments would be unsuitable. The resolution is not as good, but it still allows them to navigate environments and recognise people. Hearing devices have been in use for years now. A woman had bladder cancer, so a new bladder was grown in the lab from scratch from her own stem cells, and transplanted into her body. And those are just the ones I can remember. We are truly living in a golden age of medical science. [editline]4th February 2011[/editline] not to mention that nanomachine cancer cure
Saw this a few days ago, asked my grandad what he thought when I rang him and he said it would get rid of the blacks. Oh grandad.
This is essentially a spray-on tan only with severe pain and burning involved before.
WOW. I thought that Fringe was pretty out there with the massive skin regrowing machine that only took a couple of weeks. Now reality has surpassed science fiction in a massive way. I LOVE STEM CELLS.
This is essentially a spray-on tan only with severe pain and burning involved before.
That, and the fact that it's nothing like a spray-on tan except for the spray part, which is even done differently.
This is amazing
Does this mean I'll get my foreskin back?
