• Parents outraged as Toys ‘R’ Us sells Breaking Bad dolls

Plot twist, the dolls are actually used to smuggle meth.
I'm surprised how good they look. I thought the first two were just character profile photos.
They're not dolls, they're ACTION FIGURES!
Out of all the parent outrage stories you see, I gotta say, this one is pretty legitimate. I wouldn't want my child to play with a character from a show like Breaking Bad.
Then don't buy it for them.
They have team fortress 2 and walking dead zombie and horror movie icon collectables with blood and gore on them.
But Breaking Bad is well known and thus makes the news.
I think it's more the issue of having to explain to a kid why they shouldn't have toys of a murderous meth cook.
I really doubt you'd be doing that. More likely, you'd be explaining why they can't have The Walking Dead or something cooler. Who wants an action figure of Walter White?
It's not hard to not buy shit for your kid. My kid's brought me several things that I've flat out told him "yea you're way too young to play with that". It's like parents that complain about the latest call of duty, if you're kid is too young to play with something, then they're probably too young to purchase said product, so the issue should be a null issue.
This is an honest question: Are there age restrictions on toys/figures/collectibles? I mean would someone ask the kid for ID if he/she was trying to buy this figure?
Yeah they do come with a bag of meth in each set, not really a positive thing for kids but then again neither are The Walking Dead and other like minded shows. Also the Heisenberg figures are neato, get one.
Even if ToysRUs says the "collectibles" are for 14 and up, I'm guessing that the section of the store is really meant for 20 or 30 year old adult nerds.
I can confirm this as I'm a 20 year old nerd who still takes the occasional Toys R Us trip with my 50 year old father so we can look at GI Joes. That's some hardcore bonding.
While I agree that selling Breaking Bad figurines is questionable on Toys R Us's front, the parents need to chill the hell out. Ok, you don't want your kid playing with the figurines? DON'T BUY THEM! Simple as that.
its called "toys r us" not "kids r us"
meh Parents upset about <random 'inappropriate' thing>. Kids bitching about what parents don't like. It would be odd if no-one found it offensive at all. Heres an anthem to fuel the flames of the musty teenage angst in here
Why shouldn't they sell them? It is "Toys Я Us" not "Kid's Toys Я Us". If you have a child and you don't want them to have it, then don't buy it. Merchandise like this usually has recommended age ratings on it anyway. [editline]21st October 2014[/editline]
meh Parents upset about <random 'inappropriate' thing>. Went down to the local Toys R Us today and bought one in protest, as soon as I got to the counter the cashier screamed WHERE'D YOU GET THAT and sent an employee to take them off of the shelves. I had a nice chat with that guy about how the Breaking Bad toys were in the same aisle as the Predator, Aliens, Godzilla, and loads of other shit that wasn't kid-friendly. They let me buy the Walt that I found, though. Went around to the Target across the street which was proudly and prominently displaying a bunch of Funko Pop bobbleheads of Walt, Jessie, and Saul. Thought that was funny.
but apparently a yellow hazmat suit and gasmask is toooo far
I think people are more concerned with uh, you know, the meth rocks.
its called "toys r us" not "kids r us"
uhhh basically this and if those parents don't like the dolls or whatever then who's forcing them to buy them? breaking bad is a good show either way so your parents are lame if they don't let you get this merch :/
But Breaking Bad is well known and thus makes the news.
Walking Dead is even more well known. A lot of parents nowadays are idiots. Violence, blood and gore? Oh, that's fine! Drugs, the word "fuck" and sex? GET THIS OUT OF THE MEDIA! THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!
Reminds me of the Alien action figure. Making an action figure for a young audience based on an R rated film wasn't exactly the brightest idea they ever had :v:
I had a nice chat with that guy about how the Breaking Bad toys were in the same aisle as the Predator, Aliens, Godzilla, and loads of other shit that wasn't kid-friendly.
I disagree, Godzilla is kid friendly. Call it anecdotal, but I was introduced to Alien and Predator at around 8. I loved the films and now I appreciate them for the special effects and the stories.
Yeah I worked at our toys yesterday and my boss told me to box them all up, count them and ship them back to our warehouse. Really sucked because later I had some 20 something year old ask me where we kept them 😧
Jesse Pinkham
my favorite character

Those toys aren't meant for kids and no kids are going to want them. As a kid, what would you rather have? Walking Dead or some guy in a yellow suit holding a bag of blue candy rocks?
-snip- Fuck, my bad

Uhm, doesn't Toys R Us also sell, for example, GTA games? Last time I remembered, those are pretty violent and depict more messed up shit than BB... (or the same quantity, I dunno)
Reminds me of the Alien action figure. Hell, when I was younger, the nearby Toys R Us sold shit like Soldier of Fortune and Unreal Tournament 2k3. On another note, I love how parents will become outraged at this just to excuse themselves from the 5 seconds it takes to tell your kid "It's not real."
They're not dolls, they're ACTION FIGURES!
Damn it Marie
