pedantic =/= legitimate point
pedantic =/= legitimate point
... but you're being pedantic in obsessing over the fact that Castro technically stepped down from power 5 years ago
But he died?!

I thought the Nelson one was quite good actually..
Hey guys they live in a totalitarian state with no civil rights and can't choose their leaders but it's all okay because they can read :downs:
While I don't agree with the leadership style Castro had, since we was technically a dictator, he was much better then the alternative, Batista.

Everyone knows Castro is immortal.
Too bad there has never been the good kind of communism.
Too bad its never been given a proper chance
exactly. anarchy doesn't mean that there's no organization, just no rigid government. organizations of people can still exist in an anarchist society so long as they are fluid and not dogmatic
Saying anarchy would work if everyone within it embraced it's philosophy and ideals is just a long way of saying it doesn't work.
Stop hating on Castro when you know jack shit about what he did
That's because it won't. It would have no way of organizing a professional army, passing laws, or distributing everything equally. Different areas of the country also have different amounts of natural resources, meaning that one area of a country would end up richer than another area, leading to conflict and dispute. The whole thing would fall apart on itself because it was designed it to work in a vacuum.
Why the fuck would they organise an army? Workers Democracy passes laws and distributes things.
Again, you have absolutely NO fucking idea how communism works.
A lack of a state is not democracy, it is anarchy. For a democracy to exist there must be a governmental infrastructure to enforce decisions and organise votes. If there is no state, there is only anarchy.
In Anarchism, there is no state - In Communism, the people are the state.
There ARE different forms of government and lack thereof.
[editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
But Marx wrote that you'd need a revolution followed by a totalitarian state to implement Communism. If you didn't then you'd end up with most people rejecting your state and creating autonomous farms or small states based on the barter system and other proto-Capitalist systems. And then once you took the State away that'd probably happen anyway. Communism isn't workable.
uh, no he didn't. What Marx are you reading?

This is completley false. They hold elections of other elected leaders in the three other house of government.

It's nice that they can pick their leaders especially since they are all form the Communist Party and have the exact same views and will do the exact same thing but OK at least it's nice that they can vote.
Capitalism was an absolutely horrible, broken system when it was first implemented. We've spend the last hundred years or so trying to hammer out and fix its flaws.
We do not live in pure capitalistic societies. We never really have. Take the recent economic crisis, there was a huge amount of government intervention within the markets.
[editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
Also this news is 5 years old.
What are you talking about? Capitalism got humanity out of Dark Ages when we realized it was better to trade with one another, than fight pointless wars that destroyed lives. Also, the recent interpretation of capitalism only grew in the late 19th century when interstate transit was available with railroads. That allowed for businesses to grow nationally and internationally.

That was Merchantilism you twat.
That was Merchantilism you twat.
A little harsh there aren't we? I know it was mercantilism, I was just referring to the idea that in the earliest forms of capitalism it was implemented there just fine. Also, as a state's economic policy it was defined as mercantilism but to the traders themselves, they were practicing capitalism.
Wait how am i dumb? Ive been there before. That place is very messed up. Bless the souls that live there. That country lives off shit. You can only get certain foods each month. No walmarts. Just a small fly infested market. And your lucky to actually own a car there. Its crazy what Castro did to that place. Cuba needs to pick up quick. Its civilians are dieing from starvation cause of how it works.
"Communism" cannot work as long as it is applied to humanity.
I hit the agree button about five times.
Everyone buy as much beachfront property there as quickly as you can. Let's open the Facepunch Tropical Cabana and Casino the second this shit is all official.
We're bringin' back the 20's.
I wouldn't be all that surprised if the US stepped in to form a new government, they have been trying to for decades.

Minus that fact that no US citizens can technically legally go there.
Mission Accomplished
This is completley false. They hold elections of other elected leaders in the three other house of government.
Of course every candidate cannot belong to any party other than the Communist or must not belong to any party and in practice they're all chosen by a small group of elite party leaders. Like saying you can "choose" anything you want to eat but the only thing on the menu is pizza.
And they still have few civil rights.
Pretty soon the borders are going to open and capitalism will penetrate Cuba. Castro was the only thing keeping it from happening.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Because establishing a totalitarian dictatorship in place of a totalitarian dictatorship is totally okay if the other guy was worse?
And who says Batista was the only alternative?
Why do people on FP continue to justify dictatorships who abuse their people's civil rights daily and still claim to be liberal?

Because they masturbate over Castro's communist ideals, which are nothing but shitty lies. They refuse to acknowledge that Cuba is a piece of shit.
