In my opinion, Sonic Lost World seems good on the 3DS (judging by the demo), but strangely isn't too great for the Wii U.
I hear this a lot an quite frankly it boggles my mind. Care to elaborate as to why you feel this way? I played through both of them and while the 3DS one has a somewhat better parkour system, the Wii U version seems better in every way. Especially when you consider the later levels in the 3DS version where they're super long for no reason and just end up being more frustrating than anything else. Best thing the 3DS version has is online racing and up to 4-player racing. Otherwise, at least for me, the Wii U one trumps it by a mile.
3D Sonic games have never been good
Yeah I know. Colors and Generations were such travesties. /sarcasm
So, am I the only one who doesn't mind if they have multiple playable characters in this game? Seems like everyone's always going on about how Sonic should be the only playable character.
it's not the multiple playable characters, it's the radical shifts in gameplay
I think SA2 handled the whole 'multiple gameplay styles' thing rather well. '06 was a step back all around and it just seems like Unleashed was Sega trying to make a game that was the exact opposite of '06.
Yeah I know. Colors and Generations were such travesties. /sarcasm
Even then the 3D sections of Generations weren't exactly the best part in the game. Sonic works best as a side-scroller, regardless of whether it has 2D or 3D graphics.
are Sonic games still coin/ring/whatever collectables?
Both Sonic Adventure games, Colors and Generations were all great. Sonic Lost World was disappointing at best. I dunno, that one turning out bad doesn't necessarily mean the next one will be bad. I'm relatively optimistic about it. As for the show, I'm not too sure. I mean, Sonic SATAM showed me that a Sonic TV show can actually be really good, but they didn't do a great job with the other shows in my opinion. I'd personally rate them in this order: - Sonic SATAM (8.5/10) - Sonic Underground (7/10) - Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog (6/10) - Sonic X (4kids version 4/10, original version 6.5/10) I'm also not particularly fond of how knuckles looks. Redesigns like this tend to not turn out well. If this new show turns out anywhere near as good as SATAM, then I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Sonic Heroes is an underrated game. It's basically Sonic Adventure 3 but without a hub area. Except the fucking levels where you played as Big the cat and Cream the rabbit's team. That team sucked ass.
Shame that Jazwares' products are severely subpar. They can't into joints to save their fucking life. Just hope it's good. Colors was enjoyable, as was Generations; don't have anything to play Lost Worlds on. I just wish they'd go back to the Little Planet already rather than cocktease it in 4. :suicide:
It's like every year they forget they have other games in their franchise yet solely concentrate on Sonic.

I just found it easier to start up the demo, since I could just instantly get into a level and play with minimum tutorials. On the Wii U version, I started playing it when the Miiverse was down in December, so I kept on having to wait between each level for it to try to make a connection.
Calling it now, it will be the long awaited sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog.

You had the play through the same set of levels 4 times over with slight changes and in the case of one of the teams you had to go on pixel hunts across linear levels and another obtuse bullshit (DON'T LET THE FROGS SEE YOU) that was unfair for the player. Plus the levels were ridiculously long.
On the wii u? pfft Oh come on, I want a sonic heroes 2 on pc. Please. ^ Everyone has different tastes, but the adventures games and heroes were my fav, and I shamelessly hate the 2D genesis games. The tv show sounds promising I hope they don't fuck it up. It might not be as good as X but we'll see.
3D Sonic games have never been good
I'm like "oh god another sonic game?" right now but oh please, you don't even realize how wrong you are. [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] the 2d games are shit once you are spoiled by the joys of 3d [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] what I'd really want to see is a game based around soley building and Tails.
Would love a sonic adventure 3
I don't have much confidence after Lost World. Generations was awesome, shitty final boss and the obtuse level that was Planet Wisp aside, but Lost World is just.. Blargh. If they really do have two partially separate teams (Colors/Lost World and Generations), I hope its the Gens team working on this next one.
so how bout that sonic adventure 3
so how bout that sonic adventure 3
It's called Sonic 06
Sega really needs to spend more time on making Sonic games. I have a feeling these games would turn out better if they didn't rush to push them out every year.
I hope this new show is a mix of SATAM and Adventures. Not afraid to get serious, but won't automatically assume I have the patience.
dear Sega: just fucking make Sonic Generations 2. there, problem solved.
dear Sega: just fucking make Sonic Generations 2. there, problem solved.
No, they should make Sonic 4 Episode 3 and finish what they started. Why is it that people don't ever make episode 3 nowadays?
the 2d games are shit once you are spoiled by the joys of 3d
uuuhhhh care to explain
Sonic Heroes is an underrated game. It's basically Sonic Adventure 3 but without a hub area. Except the fucking levels where you played as Big the cat and Cream the rabbit's team. That team sucked ass.
I liked that team.
uuuhhhh care to explain
I don't think some things can be explained, short of mirror universes.
Imagine how many berserk buttons gets pressed if the new game is actually a crossover between Sonic and Final Fantasy.
Imagine how many berserk buttons gets pressed if the new game is actually a crossover between Sonic and Final Fantasy.
Why would that be?
Why would that be?
Because there are things that could go wrong. (A teaser that can spark a fandom war, an awkward combat system, etc.) (This and my earlier post are just my theory.)
Turns out this is bullshit http://mynintendonews.com/2014/02/04/sega-says-information-on-new-sonic-game-was-incorrect/
