Change... The youth of our generation needs to get their act together. [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] What do you think the current administration's agenda is?
I love how you believe all socialist nations are doing worse than you, and how they lack any freedom or are just generally far worse. Typical american exceptionalist
fuck the government for talking about something i don't understand
Considering the US government is showing an interesting in removing human rights one-by-one, it's probably not far off.
No. Just no. Patriot act violated some privacy laws(And by fuck, I'm ashamed to be "supporting" it in this context) and they aren't exactly the best nation for it, but they haven't shown that tendency at all.
fyi when your paypal account gets hijacked you'd wish you had one of these
The birth of 'national security' As Benjamin Franklin said, "Any society that will give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and will lose both". And by the way, all these 'level-headed' status quo sucking knobs can take a little bit of angst and radical opinions we're in a political debate here. You're going to see people saying 'fuck the governmet,' And I believe there's a reason why they're saying it.
The birth of the term "National Security" removes rights? By the way, that Ben Franklin quote would imply that people under Socialist governments deserve no liberty at all, which is ridiculous.
Have you been around since 1970's? We've figured out the government doesn't care.
They do, why do you think they put billions into social programs? No, trillions Fuck you guys and your "government doesn't care about us" because they do, sometimes there are the selfish fucking idiots who would indeed fuck people over for money, but the policies our government have are there to protect us.
Have you been around since 1970's? We've figured out the government doesn't care.
well then stop electing them you cock
I hope you're not being serious.
Oh yeah the government totally disregards everyone's rights and would at any moment murder us all
Stop picking apart his post and trying to turn it against him, you know exactly what the fuck he's talking about.
I wasn't being overly literal, I just responded to what he said. I asked what rights the US government removed, he responded with "The birth of national security", then quoted Ben Franklin. I had nothing to respond to other than those two things, as his last two sentences weren't relevant to my question. He didn't actually tell me about any rights that have been removed, so no, I am nowhere near convinced he "knows exactly what he's fucking talking about".
"We are not talking about a national ID card," Locke said at the Stanford event. "We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities."
Why does the government need to make this? Seems like a really random project.
I hope you're not being serious. Your loving and caring government is the reason why I have to have my testicles fondled every time I want to fly to see my family.
well president is a shit job so why do so many people wanna have it?
Why does the government need to make this? Seems like a really random project.
its so they can take all our rights away!
its so they can take all our rights away!
oh shit you're right!!!!!
I hope you're not being serious. Your loving and caring government is the reason why I have to have my testicles fondled every time I want to fly to see my family.
Thanks for proving my point, those regulations are there to save lives, better safe than sorry etc. You don't realize how much they do for you
I hope you're not being serious. Your loving and caring government is the reason why I have to have my testicles fondled every time I want to fly to see my family.
Holy hell, suck it up. It's standard measure. You get your balls fondled during a physical before you can be on a sports team, too. Its for your best interest and for the team around yous best interest. Deal with it and stop being a baby about it. Until they find a better way, this will suffice. Complain some more, that will help.
just to be sure, i don't necessarily support getting fondled but i fail to see how that proves anything about internet id
You know exactly what rights "National Security" is violating. Don't lie. He doesn't need to explain it.
Aside from the Patriot Act a while back, I really don't. Generally when you ask someone why they think the way they do, it isn't a good idea to retort with "You already know".
No I don't. Which is why we have security officers here in Canadian airports saying that the security measures being dictated by the US are actually useless and don't do anything. But I guess that's worth having a gloved hand up my ass. :downs:
If you get fisted during a patdown then you're doing something wrong [editline]9th January 2011[/editline] who cares what canada thinks come on
just to be sure, i don't necessarily support getting fondled but i fail to see how that proves anything about internet id
Someone somewhere along the line made a point that the US Gov't is trying to strip inalienable human rights from it's citizens and this is another step in that direction. Might I add that the poster who brought this about is an idiot.

Take a train, a boat...drive.
You've just thrown away all creditability in this argument. Good job. Here I was thinking you were interested in a proper debate. Resorting to blunt-insults mean you have nothing to contribute. [editline]10th January 2011[/editline] Not everyone has the option of doing that, genius.
:( you took my joke too seriously, calm down
Someone somewhere along the line made a point that the US Gov't is trying to strip inalienable human rights from it's citizens and this is another step in that direction. Might I add that the poster who brought this about is an idiot.
While I would agree that sometimes TSA officers are a bit overzealous in their patdowns of people, this is not a step in the direction of "stripping citizens of inalienable rights".
And well, then DEAL WITH IT You just get PATTED down, who cares? Are you that insecure or something? I mean yeah, it's kinda weird, but it's just a little thing they have you do if you want to fly, which is a privilege, not a right.
those of you flipping out: "These digital IDs would be offered to consumers by online vendors for financial transactions." while it may include some anti-piracy shit or whatever later on, right now it does not, and right now it's just for online transactions by the look of it.
ok i think we're done with the red herring now how is internet id bad i still haven't seen anything against it as far as i understand it it's like an internet password where one can prove their identity should they need to for instance if i do commerce via an email account and i lose access to it, i can easily prove my identification instead of going through the gigantic and costly headache of calling up people and verifying information this has nothing to do with 99% of facepunchers
The republicans have one thing right: Less government control; Better government. (At the most basic level of the saying.)
Wow. Are you telling me that you honestly don't mind having your penis and testicles fondled and having a hand up your ass? How about you actually have it done to you before you speak.
Were you actually fisted or something
Wow. Are you telling me that you honestly don't mind having your penis and testicles fondled and having a hand up your ass? How about you actually have it done to you before you speak. It's not something you "just deal with".
WHO CARES seriously that isn't even fucking relevant
WHO CARES seriously that isn't even fucking relevant
i care, he was obviously molested by someone posing as a TSA officer
Wow. Are you telling me that you honestly don't mind having your penis and testicles fondled and having a hand up your ass? How about you actually have it done to you before you speak. It's not something you "just deal with".
Honestly, if that is what TSA officers are actually doing to you, then that is a different problem all together, I'm quite certain that isn't standard practice.
