The color isn't that big of a deal since it would be tweakable (if it's on PC please please please) and I'm more concerned about gameplay
I've been waiting for this for quite a long time.
I love the style of this game, everything from the concept to the music choice.
I want the boobs when I look down.
Please.

ME2 on the left ME1 on the right
Take these with a grain of salt tho, maybe ME2 will end up looking colourfull!
What do you expect when you take a heavily shadowed area and compare it to the outside/an area with blue lighting
I never understood why people even liked Mirror's Edge.
Because the game is fairly unique and the art style that the game was done in simplistic but incredible.
Game is fairly old and still looks great compared to other new released games.
It better come with a fucking incredible theme like "Still Alive" is.

I liked Faith's older (newer?) hairstyle more
oh well
As I said in the ITNN thread, I hate the new designs they made for the enemies (cops?).
Yeah I don't like the new designs they gave them. I loved Mirror's Edge's simplistic police officers, and then there were the 'warrant officers' who wore the white vests, and finally the SWAT guys who wore riot gear, and we can't forget the pursuit cops who's outfits looked functional and cool. The new enemy designs are quite frankly terrible, I'm not even sure if they're supposed to be cops.
This is a good design for a cop:

Those ones from the trailer were not.
Everything is made of white and glass
I don't think they care much about practical uniforms
Urgh, why did they have to redesign Faith and the enemies. Why.
Like I've said in the other thread. Old Faith looked like an euroasian parkourer. New Faith looks like an asian hooker that happens to do parkour. And the enemies seem to have fallen out of tron.

Wow, Asian hookers must look pretty fucking cool then.
Um I don't think what we saw in the trailer were cops
They look more along the lines of private security from 'Pirandello Kruger'
No, PK's also looked like cops, and like riot police / swat mixes. These guys look like they're from a sci-fi who's artists tried too hard.
what's the ITNN thread btw, just got on FP for the first time today and already feel left out of following E3
mayb it's a sequel and the person getting the tattoo is faith's sister

what the fuck are you smoking? This seems like a complete random jab at something that isn't even related. you are so misinformed it isn't even funny:

Are you blind?
I liked the original trailer for the first game better. It was just raw gameplay of running around and it made me so god damn hyped for the game.
Also I think I've reenacted the scene from the trailer a thousand times in the full game, complete with a well timed slowmo right after the jump to the pipe. Man that game was good.
Please don't fuck this up EA.
[editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
And holy shit all of the theorizing in this thread. It's an announce trailer, not a 15 minutes video of raw gameplay.
[editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
This is obviously a prettied up version of the engine, used to show a little footage of a game that's still heavily in progress. Chances are they are even using presets from BF3 which explains the slightly washed out feel to it, because they are working on the gameplay itself rather than the color palette and other stuff right now. There's even a vignette applied to it from what I can see, this is obviously not even close to a final build.
If you look at the original faultline series of trailers for BF3, it looked much more contrasted and less blue than the final build too.
damn i don't want to have to go next-gen for this
I don't know what to think about this. If the trailer says anything about the type of gameplay that is going to be involved, it looks like they are going to be leaning more towards the combat in the game which is not the reason that I liked Mirror's Edge. Hopefully it's still tightly focused on the parkour.

I would have been worried if Faith would just wipe out a gun, shoot a couple dudes with it, then reload and holster it.
Best news ever

someones waifu has been injured I repeat waifu down
My main concern is we haven't really seen a whole lot - just some basic cinematics, level design and snippets of gameplay. I do think the kind of desaturation of the colours is maybe bad but maybe it's used to convey the change in scenery or portray the bad shit thats happened or whatnot.
Yeah just like blue is used to convey how modern we are in the modern world.
I could understand if it was slightly more gritty if it truly was a prequel, as it would've been (I assume) before the city cleaned everything up after the riots.
Unfortunately I'm really afraid it will just be the filter from BF3, which will be a double fuck you because DICE said that the filter was in BF3 to give it identity.

yeah it looks great - still looks crisp without blowing out the colors like in ME1

My guess was that they made it like this purely so they could put in dynamic hair like Tomb Raider had.
My only problem with the colours in Mirror's Edge was that it wasn't possible to make all of them look good all of the time, you needed compromise. Either the light was normal and the shadows were night time, or the shadows looked like shade and the light was blinding.

Mirror's Edge already had that though.
Fucking love this. Best thing comming out of E3
I would have preferred a sequel
I'm fine with both. After all the shit that went down in the first game I wouldn't be surprised if Faith just decided to stop for a bit.

I really can't emphasis on the two fact that this is both a work in progress AND a very embellished version of the actual game engine. There's a vignette plastered all over it, color grading isn't the same, lighting is reworked, anti-aliasing is cranked up, etc.
If you want a good example of that watch the faultline trailer for BF3, and compare the sniper sequence from the trailer and the actual one from the full game. The desaturated filter was added afterward, and before the game was much more contrasted with heavy shadows.
Chances are they are working with the exact same version as the one BF3 uses and they haven't taken time to properly adjust the color grading yet.
So, really, unfinished grading + E3/trailer filtering that's not actually present in the final game + shadow-intensive environments + next gen so we gotta show all that shading we can do = stuff doesn't look super vibrant. It's actually kind of hard to make a game with a very recent engine and make it as vibrant as a game made with a simpler engine because of all the ambient occlusion, improved shadows, vignetting, color grading, etc.
The first game kind of let most of the post-processing stuff that would normally darken the image out of the picture to make sure the design would remain simple and vibrant. Chances are the same path will be taken here, and if they don't, well who cares ? The runner-vision red will be of a slightly darker shade, big deal. Still looks more colorful and vibrant than most first person shooters released in the last decade.
