Father of dead driver blames Tesla’s acceleration for his daughter’s death
Then what is launch control for?
Helps you with hitting the green light as fast as possible on drag strips I suppose. But from what I have read there is very little difference in doing launch control vs just slamming the pedal.
Is it acceptable to blame the acceleration, probably, with given investigation. Any fault with it should be investigated and rectified to insure the integrity of Tesla.
Is it acceptable to say whether they would be alive if they had driven another car? Absolutely not. Being three times the legal limit is very serious. Even if they had been driving another car, they would have either wound up in court or in a coffin.
Their chances of survival were higher when riding a Tesla
If you are going to buy something that borders on being a supercar, you should take some professional driving courses first.
You also shouldn't drink and drive period, but chucklefucks are going to be chucklefucks.
I am interested in what speed they was going.. the front drive unit is completely detached from the car:

It's quite conceivable that something got wedged in between the axle and the frame. The cars have shields underneath, but if you are airborne or have already hit something, the angles could lineup with the body work on the front. Right where the scratch is on this picture. A bar or something impaling the car there could rip out the wheels.
There's grieving and there's being this goddamn irrational.
losing your daughter in such a horrible way causes people to act irrationally, 3 months isn't that long of a time to still be dealing with such a massive loss....

I find it way more likely he's just acting irrationally over grief and not that he's trying to scam the company for an easy buck
I know a lot of people are gonna be really harsh on the Dad but he's grieving, he's probably just trying to find someone to blame for it, there's no need to go so hard on the poor guy.
Nope. If his daughter died while drunk driving and colliding with a vehicle in the wrong lane, there's two people distinctly at fault here, and 1 sorta-at fault:
1.The person driving in the wrong lane.
2. The daughter for being a fucking moron and driving drunk
3. The dad for raising her poorly.
If he can't stomach reality maybe he should keep grieving in silence until he can face the facts. He's more responsible for his daughter's death than the car is if anything. This is the same thing if you bought your kid a lambo and they died going 200mph down the highway while drunk. Do you sue Lamborghini for making a fast car? No. Do I think he's in it to make a quick buck? Probably not, he's probably just a sue happy moron who has no sense of personal accountability, but that still doesn't excuse his actions.
take an analogy that isn't a car. Do we blame the maker of a band saw because someone got drunk and cut their finger off with it because they couldn't react properly to not do so?

I'm not telling anybody to shift the blame. I'm saying this his actions are understandable because he's acting irrationally due to grief and to not dogpile on the guy, the court case isn't actually going to go anywhere and I think it's ridiculous that you're even going as far as to blame him for being a shitty parent

agreed completely, it's not like some powerful lobby is trying to use this to actually hurt tesla, it's just a pretty typical response from a grieving parent
frankly it just doesn't need to be reported on unless any real legal action happens (it wont), why demonise the guy

Parents are responsible for the upbringing of their children. If your kid is dumb enough to drive at 3 fucking times the legal limit, you're in part a shitty parent for raising them to think doing so is okay. It's not 100% his fault no, but he's more to blame than the car for her poor behaviour.

i agree with hakkar in that i think it's pretty absurd for you to blame the father for his daughter driving under the influence. it doesn't matter how many times you pound it into your kids' heads that drunk driving and drugs and all that are bad. at the end of the day they are their own person and make their own decisions. it's as unfair to blame the father for his daughter driving under the influence as it is for him to blame tesla for her death.
I'm laughing at how people think "this car is too _____" like they don't have a choice against driving a 100,000 car. Idiots. The case will be thrown out real fast.
